Joseph Mascolo Returns to DAYS!

Rejoice, Stefano fans! Soap Opera Digest confirms that Joseph Mascolo is headed back to Salem as DAYS's favorite villain, Stefano DiMera. According to the the July 8, 2008 issue of Soap Opera Digest, Executive Producer Ken Corday had a meeting with Joseph, in which Mr. Corday mentions, "It was always our plan to bring him back. We had a lovely, cordial meeting where he was happy to come back to the show."
As previously reported, a DAYS spokesperson quoted to SOD a little more than a month ago that "Stefano is still in a coma and that's where he will remain for now." Needless to say, the actor felt "double-crossed" and said the show "would have to come out on bended knee" to get him to return. Stefano is just the boost that DAYS needs, and we can't wait to see what Head Writer Dena Higley has in store for John's half-brother.
Mascolo is scheduled to return to the show in early August, right before the Summer Olympics begin airing on NBC. I will let you know an airdate as the information becomes available so you can mark your calendars!

Really , i’m so so happy to know that Joseph is going to return , i just couldn’t accept the show without knowing he’s going to return back , naw am so happy and i can’t wait to see wut is going to happen
Joseph is the best actor on daytime t.v. He plays his parts perfectly, lets hope Corday keeps him for ever!
Wow,what a wonderful surprise to find out that Joseph is coming back. I was truly shocked and angry with the way things for left with him and especially so at the time of the passing of his dear dad.There never is a good time to let him go,but at that particular time it was simply terrible.IMHO.

Yay! Good news at last. It was horrible the way the just left Stefano lying there for all these months. He is an integral part of the show and I’m so happy he’s coming back.

sorry guys, but i think it really stinks that they are bringing him back. i really like all the new story lines and i think they ought to leave the dead and the comatized where they are.

I am so happy that the charactor of Stefano is coming back. Joseph Mascola is a great actor, and he will without a doubt make the show come back to life again.
Nothing on the show has really been worth watching since Stefano went into his coma.
I am glad that the writers and Ted Corday, finally woke up, to what was missing on DOOL. Maybe now, the ratings will go up, and we will have the good old days back. Maybe even get an award next year, if the storyline is a great one. And of course well written.
It has every potential to go far once again!!

Bravo! Bravo!!! As he always says, “Ah, Salem, it is good to be back.” The best move the show could ever make. I am so very happy. He is so unpredictable, that it makes you want to turn in to watch the show each and every day. This grandmother loves watching an older sexy man as opposed to these young sexy men. At my age, I couldn’t keep up with the young ones, but I’d sure like to try to keep up with Stefano. Thanks for making my day. Linda
Oh Great!!!! The Phoenix Rises again for the umpteenth time. Yes, Joseph is a wonderful actor but please, let the man stay in the coma. Just when the story line is interesting… I just get so tired of the Phoenix rising from the ashes. Hell, this guy has more lives than a cat. Joseph, I love you, but stay in the coma!!!!!
How sad sad sad that the show has to revert back to the old TIRED Stefano storylines.
If this is the only way to keep the show on air then fine, but I still do NOT like to see this old cretin return.
I was sooo happy to see Marlena inject him then the glorious coma, but now it will all be ruined with hs return. Sad Sad Sad.
Bout time Days got it in gear. Ratings dropped again. Keep the lines flowing faster Ken. You are the man!!! Bring Granny Horton back PLEASE for the 4th of July Shabang. We miss and love her so. Need more rough housing on the show and PLEASE let John get out of his nerdy world.Love the show for 40 plus years. Never say die and don’t give up till the fat lady sings. I too am sorry Stefano is returning.
For the first time in years I have found myself laughing and enjoying this show. John is great, Nichole is funny, and EJ is light and happy. Rolf even has been lighter and funnier. Stefano’s role has done its thing. When he returns give him a more refreshing personality. I want John and Marlena to stay together. Don’t care for Ava. There is so much unhappiness and confusion in the world today, watching something that lift’s ones spirits will bring the ratings back. Days began with great relationships and fun story lines. I have been watching this show from the very beginning. It has definitely moved in the wrong direction. Bringing Stefano’s role back as he was, just continues the same o same o depressing story.
I am so excited to see Stephano coming back. I know Ava is leaving, but, woouldn’t it be great for a story between Ava’s family and Stephano. I miss the old John, but, Drake is playing his part very well. Good acting job, Drake. I have been watching since approx. 1967. I still Love Days!!!!!
Sorry, but I am very sorry he is coming back. Even though he is a great actor, he needs to do his acting on another show. I am so bored with the Stefano story line. It is always the same old thing. I too, am excited about the show and I haven’t been in a long time. The new story lines are sad, funny and exciting. To revisit the same old boring story line is just depressing.
This is absolutely wonderful news. I love Stefano! DOOL writers have treated the character in all the wrong ways recently. Stefano should be treated as a core character, not as a guest role. If I were Joseph, I would have demanded a guaranteed contract with a minimum number of monthly air dates that runs the remainder of the time Days is on air or until Joseph wants to leave.
I hope Stefano punishes Marlena with all of the DiMera wrath she deserves for what she did to him, and I hope he and John spar to Kane and Able proportions. Long live the Phoenix! And, Joseph, should you ever read these online comments, thank you for bringing the most exciting villain of all to daytime TV with your unmatched talent. Thank you for all of the years of entertainment you have brought this fan.
How bout Stefano and John partner together to get rid of Philip. I would like to see Rolf stand by John too.

I am so sick of Stefano coming and going. I think his days on days needs to have it’s final shade pulled. Enoungh is enough. John Black (Drake) is doing just fine. E.J is too, lets move on….
Sorry Penny; but if your rationale is useful at all, then John should still be dead! I for one am overjoyed that “my man” is returning and I hope he comes back with revenge in his heart for that “doc” AND his ungrateful offspring. Go get ‘em, Stefano!

Susan, I agree with you. What a great arrangement that would be! I do love the new John. The old one was tiresome, boring and too much of a “yes dear” to that “doc”! Am also NOT missing “that’s a fact”!
Cynthia, you must have missed the episode when John went to visit his big bro and told him he is his brother. This is gonna get REAL interesting when Stefano goes back to HIS mansion and finds all his uninvited, unwanted and unwelcomed guests. Not to mention what he will do when he finds out John has tried to turn poor Rolf into a lap dog. Yep, this is gonna get REAL good REAL fast. I am soooooooooooooo ready!

I absolutely hate when they bring Stefano back. Everytime the writers don’t know what to write, they bring him back.
I do not like the new John either. His facial expressions sometimes drive me crazy.

To bring Stefano back as anothing other than STEFANO would be ludicrous. The show needed a kick in the pants to jump start it and, if anyone can pull it off, it is “my man”, Stefano
