Suzanne Rogers Celebrates 35 Years on DAYS
Suzanne Rogers made her debut on Days of Our Lives exactly thirty-five years ago, on August 20, 1973 as Maggie Simmons. She had her very first scene with the unforgettable John Clarke (ex-Mickey Horton), during which time his character was suffering from amnesia. Six years later in 1979, she won a Daytime Emmy Award for Oustanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama Series.
During the past thirty-five years, Maggie has been through paralysis, alcoholism, affairs, and a custody battle, among other things. She was even been brutally murdered by the Salem serial killer in 2003 and was brought back to life six months later along with the other victims in a stunning plot twist, proof that no-one really dies in Salem. Jason has written a wonderful tribute on his website in honor of the lovely lady who has graced our screens for the past three and a half decades. It includes a detailed biography and a brief character history of Maggie Simmons Horton, so be sure to check it out!
Congratulations go out to Suzanne and here's to many more years in Salem!Pictured: Suzanne Rogers (Maggie)

I remember when Maggie first appeared on the show. Mickey stumbled onto her farm and did not know who he was, Maggie was on crutches. She is great and I still miss seeing John Clarke as Mickey. He was the best
Yes I remember her as well. She is a joy to see on screen and its a shame she still don’t have her leading man around. John Clarke and her together was a GREAT pairing. I’m glad she still talks about him like he’s around. I hope she is around days for many more yrs to come. Maggie we love you.
I have watched Days since day one (I was 3 years old and my mom and I watched together). I have been blessed enough to meet Suzanne Rogers many times and she is ALWAYS the sweetest and most loving person you could imagine. She always takes time for her fans. It is amazing that she could stay so beautiful, inside and out, after all these years.
I have watched Suzanne for almost all her time on Days. I remember her in bedand paralyzed and wanting to dance and “Mickey” giving her red shoes. I think she is a great actress and really wish that the writers would give her something else to do. She should have a storyline of her own. When will Days realize that there are alot of viewers like myself who still watch and would like to see some real meat of a story. I have kids and can relate to the younger stories, but, boring can’t express what I see many times on Days. Give this lovely actress something else to do than show up at a dinner table to tell someone they are wanted on the phone( stupid now since everyone has a cell phone), or visit someone in the hosp. Granted, I would love the former “Mickey”, but, Kevin Dobson is a good actor. Why he joined Days is beyond me too, because he hasn’t done much of anything either.. So comeon writers!!!!!
Love the beautiful Maggie. So good to see her in more parts as I think all of the cast should get an extra ten or twelve lines on a daily basis.Days is one show that I watch as much as I possibly can. Ken Corday I hope realizes that he has a Jewel of the Nile with his show. If I’m correct I think he is carrying on the family tradition and for that we all can give him the well deserved praise. Maggie sweet Maggie and John Clark seem to click together. Wish he was there for her on the show. Hope he’s still living in real life as I haven’t heard? Those two helped make Days with their love story as has all the rest.Granny Horton started it all and how I so miss her beautiful smiling face. God bless all the cast and Mr. Corday and all his staff to continue on the great show that has been in my life for over forty years as well as many other fans. You all are family. Keep up the great acting and may you all work there for the rest of you all’s days. Love you all and carry on with the show.
I agree with what Teri wrote. Every time
we met Suzanne, whe wss so warm and
friendly. She is a special lady. I also
miss John Clark acting with her. I
look forward to seeing her again next
year, if possible.
Congrats Suzanne! I remember that first show. Maggie Simmons had been in an accident and needed aidwith walking. Maggie had inherated a farm and a stranger came toher door, he wore a ring with M.H. on the ring. maggie gave him the name hewent by for a while and then everyone learned he was Mickey Horton. Mickey and Maggie were marred soon there after. Maggie has rilly became a Horton. She is there for the whole Horton famley and the way she stands by Alice, a daughter couldnot do more than Maggie does. Great viewing! Keep on keeping on Maggie.
Thanks so much everyone for all the positive comments on Suzanne. I have enjoyed reading all the kind things you’ve said about the lovely actress and her character.
