According to Soap Opera Digest, Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans (Steve and Kayla) have both been let go from the show. As shocking as it sounds, this popular supercouple who are consistently ranked as favorite actor, favorite actress, and favorite couple in Soap Opera Digest week after week will no longer be on our screens. I have no words right now except pure disappointment to see one of my all-time favorite DAYS couples let go, especially so soon after the departure of Drake Hogestyn and Deidre Hall (John and Marlena).
Word is that Stephen and Mary Beth will not even be getting any type of exit story. The characters will continue to be mentioned occasionally even though they won't be seen. No final airdate as of yet but I'll keep you posted. Please share your thoughts on this latest firing.

I am more upset about this than John and Marlena!!!! I was SO excited when I found out they were coming back to the show, and DAYS was lucky to get them back, and DAYS has continually not shown their appreciation for them agreeing to even come back. What pitiful stories the writers gave them, and now not even a goodbye, no sendoff, no explanation!?!? WTH?!?! SO MAD!!! And how are they going to explain Stephanie not ever being seen with her mom and Dad, oh and her baby brother too!!!! This sucks! Sorry, but it does! Oh, and speaking of baby Joe…guess we will never know what Stefano and Rolfe did to him during the Hospital lockdown !!!

I agree, i am totally displeased with the writers. Icant beleive that Ken Corday wold let this happen. I’ve been watching the show since the beginning. Its always ben about family. Hortons christmas’s are always the best. When they killed Zach i was outraged, still hoping they would bring him back. Now splitting up all time favorites Bo and Hope will really drive us away, not to say the same of Steve and Kayla. Firing John,Marlena,Steve and Kay is the worst. They could of had such great story with John and Stefano,unresolved issues with both John and Steve as far as the Dimeras.And they can have story with Anna and Tony,all those years apart. Why not fire someone like Melanie(shes not only no one but a terrible actress. Let go the young ones who have less meaning to the show.Mel,Max, Steph and even Phil could take a hike. People want the super couples.That is what Days is all about. If you keep going with the way things are YOU MIGHT AS WELL CANCEL and if you do so i hope you go off with a happy ending of Bo and Hope. OMG!!! First John and Marlena, and now Steve and Kayla! I could scream! What the hell does Corday think he is doing? He just fired John and Marlena and I was PISSED. Now Steve and Kayla are let go…THIS SHOW IS GOING TO HELL. If Corday fires Bo and Hope next, I seriously will quit watching. Jarlena, Stayla and Bope are my favorite couples and now two out of the three are gone. Not to mention Corday also fired Tony. The veterans of Days have been treated poorly!! The DOOL fan base needs to start backing up its totally-justified complaints about the apparent deliberate and systematic destruction of this long-beloved show — backing up, that is, with intentional and effective action. I suggest that we hit NBC where it hurts — in the pocketbook! How about boycotting all sponsors of all of this network’s shows, but, most especially, those that still sponsor the pathetic train-wreck that DOOL has become. Why continue to give economic support to the companies that are paying this , sadly, once-great network to destroy its longest-running, classiest daytime program?!?! Why not curtail some of the tedious talk shows, overly-long political gab-fests and brain-dead reality shows, and leave this beloved show and its original stars alone!!! I think the dool writers are really making a huge mistake with all their firings! it is crazy!!! If they are not careful, they are going to get rid of all their fans!! I cant believe the writers do not see what mistakes they are making.. I can think of so many other actors on that show, that really dont have a storyline, rather than Kala and steve, and marlana and John. Actually the john and marlana story was really a good one. I am both shocked and disappointed! What are the executives thinking??? I find myself fast forwarding through most of the show and only watching the characters that have been on DOOL for years. Now that most of them are being fired I’ll be watching even less of the show. If Bo and Hope go, so will I!!!
Looks like the recession has hit Days of Our Lives as well. I am sad that Days is taking the Steve and Kayla characters away. I was hoping that the foursome (Steve, Kayla, Bo and Hope) would have some new adventures coming up.
Since John and Marlena just left the show, I wouldn’t think that they would take off another super couple so soon. However, I don’t understand a lot of the thinking that’s going on at Days right now. I do still have a glimmer of hope, since they are not killing the characters off, but letting their storylines remain open. This leaves room for them to come back when the money is right. However, even if they killed them off, they seem to come back.:-) I would let the Kate or Chloe characters leave for a little while or maybe Melanie or Stephanie. There has to be some method to the madness, and hopefully the storylines will start to pick up.
My only saving grace right now are the Sami and Rafe characters. Even though the witness protection storyline was getting old, I love the interaction between the characters. Alison Sweeney and Galen Gering do a wonderful job. They remind me of a young Bo and Hope. I hope the Rafe and Sami characters are around for a long time and bring lots of adventures (like the late 80s and early 90s). Maybe they will be the next super couple. Fingers crossed.

Long time viewers, the ones who are acquainted with the rich history of the show, the ones who have rooted for their favorite characters year after year, apparently those viewers are considered expendable – acceptable losses.
Dee and Drake’s send off was awful, Tony’s send off rips a couple in two and S&K aren’t even given a send off?
Though I enjoy watching Peter, Kristian and many of the other actors,S&K’last day will be my last day as well.
I was so sad to hear this! Marybeth and Stephen are the Best of the best and have always nailed their scenes!!! It is such a shame that Days is letting them go! Once they are gone.. I will no longer be watching!
This is truly a travesty. When Steve & Kayla go, so will I. I returned for them, I have consistently watched for them, and I will leave with them. It has become evident that the writers of DOOL don’t know how to write for genuine talent. Now I guess we find out if they know to write for a show with no viewers.
I’m very disappointed at this latest Days news. I came back in 2006 to watch after 16 years of not watching Days, just to see them. It’s a shame that this show continues to make bad behind the scenes decisions. Once they’re gone, I won’t watch Days anymore.
I am utterly appalled at the lack of consideration TPTB at DAYS has for their various fan bases. In a few short months they have alienated the fanbases of John & Marlena, Tony & Anna and Steve and Kayla.
What they fail to realize is the only reason I got involved with watching DAYS 35 years ago was because my mother was invested in the characters and it encouraged me to watch. I then became invested in those same characters and encouraged my children to watch, who in turn became invested in those same characters and encourage their children to watch.
The constant additions of new characters into the show, firing of old characters for no apparent reason and the inability of the writers and staff to produce a quality show with quality dialogue is disrespectful not only to the long standing actors but to the fans who love to watch them.
I am hereby giving my notice to DAYS, SONY, NBC and anyone else affiliated with the same, including, but not limited to sponsors, that I will no longer watch DAYS, any show on the network or purchase any products produced by sponsors of the network once Steve and Kayla are gone from the show.
It’s a sad day in Salem and I can only wonder how the Corday’s would feel if their were still alive to see what devastation has been wrought upon their brain child.

I think it is fairly obvious that the intention is to drive away the long-time fans and viewers. Once accomplished, Days can be cancelled without a large, organized protest.
I truly believe that NBC wants to take Days off the air. ANd I think Ken Corday has gotten all of his money out of the show and he’s done. Thats the ONLY reason I can think of to get rid of the shows major stars. Im not just talking about Steve and Kayla but also John and Marlena.. AND on top of that they screwed the long time fans of J&M of a decent send off.
I quit watching days a few years ago because the storylines SUCKED.. I love and support the actors, but if I have to FF through 40mins of a 48 min show, why bother??
Why did NBC even renew the show for 18 months, if they were going to do this??
Instead we are stuck with characters that really SUCK. No one likes Melanie, but she’s shoved down our throats all the time.

With the loss of Dee & Drake and now Stephen & Mary Beth I have no desire to keep watching. It’s a shame what had become of one of the best soaps. They are missing the boat here. The core of the show is the veteran actors and they are being treated with disrespect.

WOW ! STEVE & KAYLA is going now ? I am just getting over Marlena leaving. Days is getting to crazy for me now. I saw todays episode and wasn’t really planning on watching. Roman gave Sami a call and told her about Kayla being shot and I thought he was going to tell hear about Marlena and John and all of there news. I wonder if Sami knows about John and Marlena leaving. I think Roman also told Sami she could leave the house now. Those are two of my favorites Roman ans Sami !
I have read everyones comments.. and agree with them..I have watched Days for about 30 some years.. and this isn’t the days show that it use to be.. so many stories that could be told with long time favorites and could have even made some new super couples..instead you retell the same old stories ( baby switching).. the show is just down right boring heck i think the scabs during the writer strike did a much better job of writing for the show..Either get new writers and bring back the favorites or cancel the show.

They just don’t get it. This “baby switch” is the last straw after the firings of the two most beautiful actors of all time, “Marlena and John”. Yet they give a story line to “Nicole” that is unbearable for the listeners. Yikes!!! Fire everyone and get it over with. Cancel the show!

I just wish Days could get rid of head writer Dena again. Maybe regroup the whole show and maybe do a spinoff show or something like that. I guess that will probably never happen.
A couple of weeks ago I tried watching GH again. I thought I saw Jason Cook and Kirsten Storms back together again in a scene somewhere. I thought it was awesome seeing those two together again on another show.
On Days since idiot Chloe has come back, I don’t think they have mentioned Shawn and Belle at all since they left.
WOW, I just don’t know what to think anymore. I too stopped watching when the show was boring and not going anywhere. I understand story lines go bad, but get rid of the fill in characters. Melanie needs to go!!! Kate needs to take a LONG trip to be with Billie or Austin, Chloe can go with Nicole as soon as EJ finds out about the baby. GOTTA KEEP Stefano, he needs to be seen more and start some more drama….

It’s the Sami/Melanie show. They think the only reason anyone tunes in is for these two. While I do like Sami I loathe Melanie, with her huge teeth and whiney voice! It grates on my nerves. Oh, I can see a new storyline ahead for Sami. She sleeps with Rafe, EJ and Lucas and becomes pregnant with triplets! Each with a different father! Recycled storylines is all this show ever does with Dena Higley as the head writer. She sucks!

I guess DOOL really wants to END their time on TV. Maggie has become a swift pain in the you know what!!!. She used to be a likeable character. I remember the time when she screwed up. Melanie is a complete loser. So instead of keeping the people that made the show for so many years, they bring on new people that seem to just bore me and keep me tuned out.

Letting go of Kayla and Steve is the last nail in the coffin for the show. I am not watching the show as much since the departure of John and Marlena. I doubt that DOOL will reach the time when the renewal contract for the show comes up. The recent departures are turning away alot of die hard fans. What are the writers thinking or trying to prove? Well they will be sorry for such drastic changes in the up and coming ratings for the show. I just fell sorry for the remaining characters who deep in their hearts know that it is the beginning of the end for the show. Such idiotic firings and hirings. Think about it, give up John/Marlena, Steve/Kayla just to keep on actresses like Melanie on. Blows one mind doesn’t it.

I am a long time viewer and hate what they are doing to my favorite soap -in the past I have found if we are patient the stars show up on other soaps ie Brandon Beemer is on B&B so as upsetting as it is to see my favorite soap loose it’s stars hopefully they will show up on another soap and we will all stop watching days!!!!!!

I have been a faithful viewer of the daytime drama “Days of our Lives” for over 30 years. They join the other vets, Drake Hogestyn, Deidra Hall and Thaao Penghlis that have been fired all within the span of less then 3 months from each other.
Why is he (Corday) removing the older demographic age groups from the show? Why does he continue to hire younger actors that have no talent? I’m also getting tired of having to fast forward through the near porn of DanHo and CloHo time and time again?
At the rate he is going there will be nothing left of this show.
There is no reasoning in his actions!
I’ll no longer be a viewer of this show or any NBC program when the two Best of the Best are no longer on.

I switched to the CBS story As the World Turns when NBC took Another World off the air. And I ONLY watch NBC for Days of Our Lives. By eliminating Day’s entire cast one by one, I will be forced to switch channels for another story. So, I won’t be watching any of the advertisements/commercials at all anymore on NBC. I have enough “talk shows” all morning. In the afternoon, I want to watch a STORY. Wouldn’t it be wonderful,if CBS or ABC would make a brilliant move and have a new story WITH all our fired cast members. Wow, would this stories ratings be huge and their commercial advertisers would be very happy. Also all of us who have spent 30 years of our lives “living” with these people whom we won’t maybe ever see again, we’d be more than thrilled. What do you all think?

I waited so long for Steve and Kayla to come back as many of us have and then to watch their show time diminish bit by bit, waiting patiently for more story time and now this????!!! That’s it! I think I’m going to stop watching Days…!

I have watched DAYS OF OUR LIVES since the summer of 1989. My mother also watched DAYS when Julie had the facial scar so it has always been in the background of my childhood. I was devastated when Steve “died” in 1990 and I have been devastated time and again by Jack Deveraux’s many deaths. To know that Jack is physically OK with Jennifer in London [and who knew Kayla would come back with Steve 15 years later? We could only hope...but I don't think DAYS will be around in 15 years, as NBC wants out of the soap business evidently.] I have not watched DAYS consistently since Jack & Jennifer are not in Salem…I love Steve and Kayla and now they are gone again…it looks like Salem is closing up shop. I’m sure it is super-expensive to produce a daily 45-min show…but I will miss Steve,Kayla, Jack and Jennifer.
I found them rather boring anyways. I am much much more bummed out about John and Marlena. And they better not let Bo and Hope go too!! Steve and Kayla…I can live without.
Needless to say, this news is very upsetting. Steve and Kayla have always been my favorite characters…I have watched DOOL since I was five years old (over 30 years). I will have second thoughts now of continuing to watch a show that shows such a lack of respect for its’ most talented actors/characters. This is horrible…just horrible.

You know, there are lots of us retired people out here who finally get to watch “Days” during the day, and now the show is sending all of our favorite “older” stars away from our show. What gives?? We are people too!!! There are millions of us out here!! Whoever is in charge of all of this needs to realize that we don’t want to just watch the “youngsters” on tv. We want our veterans whom we have grown to love and enjoy stay on the show. Why should we continue to watch when almost everyone from the past is now gone?? We have supported this show for 30 plus years and miss all those “old friends” like Jack & Jennifer, Marlena and John (WHAT were they thinking when they dropped them?), and a host of other stars that are now gone. Where are Shawn & Belle by the way?? And what is wrong with Steve & Kayla that they have to leave?? Bring back our friends from the past and keep the ones you have now, if you must. That will give you more material to write about. Are the writers now so young that they can’t write for our beloved “DAYS” friends who are older and have been dropped??? WAKE UP!!!! You are going to lose your fan base! You better keep Bo & Hope or you might as well shut the show down!!!! There are many DAYS fans out here who are quite angry, I can tell you that!!
With John and Marlena gone and now Steve and Kayla, they may as well fire Bo and Hope and hire more ‘actors’ like Melanie!! Poor girl can’t act at all. Then they could save a lot of money! I guess Days is over for me. I’ve lost interest in it.
If the show keeps making these kind of decisions of letting fan fav’s go, then I can honestly say, after 20+ years of watching this show, I’m not really going to care if it winds up getting canceled. As it is, I fast forward & don’t watch half the show anyway.

Ken Corday you have totally losed your mind! All the GREAT years your folks gave, and you can’t seem to do squat! NBC said it was you call! We all knew there was going to be a baby switch, before it was announced! Sami and EJ need back together and let Sami give Stefano a headache! Next we know Bo and Hope will be gone! I believe they are just getting ready to take Days off and what better way then to get rid of all the super couples I’ve watched almost from the very beginning and some of the story lines lately have been pretty stupid so maybe its time. You can almost tell whats going to happen because they constantly repeat story lines just different people
Not only has Ken Corday turned his back on DOL fan base so has NBC. Just as “The Doctors” and “Another World” so shall “DOL” go.
NBC wants to be a all day news and talk show net work. That is why they wont give us characters that we can care about. If it wasn’t for “Caruso” & “Jay Leno” I would boycott NBC altogether. I still might!
I agree with all the comments posted before me. My favorite thing about Days has always been their ability to bring original actors back to play their original characters. It’s what gives Days its’ richness, depth and history and holds it above other soaps. I was thrilled with the return of Tony and Anna, Steve and Kayla, and (years ago) Bo and Hope. It is always a treat to have Doug and Julie in a scene and I’ve been so happy that recently Maggie has been playing a big part in the Lucas/Chloe/Daniel storyline. I understand the need for younger actors to keep storyline balance but the veteran actors have always, ALWAYS, been the backbone of the show. We need only look to Alice Horton to realize the truth in that. The Horton family, which was the original foundation of the show, is all but gone. I’m 53 and my children are grown now but when they were young they played in the family room while I watched Days and grew up knowing Tom and Alice, Doug and Julie, Maggie and Mickey, Bo and Hope, Stephano, Roman, Tony, John and Marlena. I never worried about what they might be exposed to by watching the show. I miss that Days…somehow, somewhere we have lost it. But I’ll continue to watch the show hoping that it can recover and that some changes will be made for the better. I have hope in the knowledge that nothing is really forever in soapland and that all wrongs may be made right.
I am VERY disappointed in the direction that Days has been going for awhile. I have been watching it since i was little. I have begun to lose interest. I was extremely upset when they let john and marlena go, but now steve and kayla. It also upset me when they let Grandpa Shawn go. Maybe the writers should take a look at how their fans feel and rewrite stories so that they dont spend so much money.
I think it is terrible that Mary Beth and Stephen were fired. Down with Days, I will not watch “Days” anymore with Steve and Kayla gone. What a shame. My soap is in the toilet.
I’ve been watching DAYS since 1990 when Crystal Chapel (her actual name) started; my mother (in her 50’s at the time) was her acting partner in college. I got hooked on Jack and Jenn. I’ve never really been a fan of John and Marlena or Patch and Kayla. I do, however, love Bo and Hope. If they go, that will really sadden me. I was actually looking forward to them canceling DAYS so I could have more time (I also watch Y&R and ATWT since 1983). Now, it seems that they are trying to destroy the show as it comes to a close. What a shame. I like Nicole and Phillip a lot (or should I say the actors as the characters aren’t very nice!) but most of the other characters I don’t really care much about (anymore or ever in some cases). Shawn Christian is great (at least he was on ATWT) but they’ve made him in to some kind of horny toad on DAYS. Chloe and Daniel are practically porno. I hope they cancel the show; they’re making leaving this addiction a lot easier.
I would rather they just cancel DAYS than hack away and dismantle it in the fashion that they have. How sad.
DOOL writers must be closing down the show. Why else would they fire their most important actors? I’m 55 and I have been watching this from the start. I think the story line is getting boring. Maybe these actors want to leave and find a better written soap. The story line from what I’ve heard does not even appeal to the younger set. Too bad. DOOL is now a thing of the past. I no longer like to watch it.

I never had too write before because years ago they had the writers and a younger look on the story lines. They really got desperate when they started killing off everyone and put them all on a island. And again and I mean AGAIN they had to bring Stefano back again. The only good thing that came out of that was Steve & Kayla and the others that came back. It’s really sad that we know what is going to happen before it happens on screen. We knew that Sami’s baby was going to be switch. Before it was even on film. As so as that story started. So writers what does that tell you? Heck, You can hire your viewers. We can do what your writers do and we already know what’s next you are so predictable. I could make a list of ones to get rid of Instead of taking the ones that we have loved for so many years. I think it is a very SAD time. They are letting go of 2 GREAT couples. They have beenn pillars for the show for many years. I have been watching the show since the beginning, when I was in school. My mother watched it and I got hooked. Why must you let go of people that are with the show for so long. Bringing in new people just won’t be the same. It’s not bad enough that several other good night time shows have been canceled now popular couples on daytime as well. Please re-consider keeping these couples.

The one who needs to be fired is the people in charge of this soap.It seems as if they have lost all concept of this long running daytime soap opera.It seems on here if your not a young star your DAYS are numbered.There will be a lot of fans who have been with this show thru all its ups and dows that will leave for good. What are the writers thinking? First it was John & Marlana. We just got Steve back and now both he and Kayla are being written off. Anna disappeared from the show. Now Tony is gone. Half of Hortons/Bradys are in Europe or Ten-Buck-Two. Who is next? Bo and Hope? I only watch one soap … DAYS. As a fan from day one, I may have an extra hour in my DAY if the writers don’t get their act together.
This is the biggest daytime insult to fans ever. They are making a huge mistake that I think they are undersetimating the impact of. This weill effect all NBC daytime programming. Steve and Kayla are glue and Days needs them. Their fans are in all Demo groups! They are passionate fans because Steve and Kayla touch the heart, and that is what makes people turn the TV on. Now sadly NBC will no longer be on in my home, until Steve and Kayla are seen in Salem.
There was a time in the 80’s when Days was NBC’s and all the soap magazines golden goose. They had great writers who told great stories which were acted out by great actors. When Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans came back I and many others hoped these fantastic actors could once again get some great stories to showcase their talent. Sadly the writing at DOOL now is pathetic! They let go of the talented actors for cheaper actors who are cheaper because of the absense of acting ability and they expect the fans to stick around! Sorry NO WAY!! The day the last Steve and Kayla scene airs is the last day I watch Days. I knoow the budget is tight but sometimes if you spend money you make money if you have a great product you will attract viewers, if you have garbage they turn the channel and sadly many fans are doing just that and with the firings that have happened already in 2009 you can be sure lots will. People want love stories and romance but not a constant bed hop despite the soap stereotype. Fans want true love stories not a lustfest and somewhere along the way Days lost sight of that. I am finished with this show and am sure there will be another show that will appreciate the talents of Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans. Sad it came to this but they are much better than what Days has become. When Days is cancelled as it soon will be I will try and remember when it was actually good but that certainly isn’t anytime in recent memory!

You had the typical amnesiac brainwashing story which had been done so many times before. Then Steve was thrown in the looney bin at EJ’s hands. There was nothing romantic about it. Then last year was the worst story of all Ava Vitali.
They made the story all about Ava and not Steve and Kayla. Despite their efforts, I did not feel sorry for Ava. The only one I felt sorry for in that story was Steve.
Now we have Hope shooting Kayla and the story was not even about them. They always seemed to be props for others. Just no respect at all.

I watched the show for twenty years before finally throwing in the towel back when they killed everyone off. That was the last straw for me, and I’m glad I never turned back. Steve and Kayla were always my favorite couple, and now I’m happier than ever that I quit watching when I did. I’d hate to see them leave again.
It’s a shame what this show has done with it’s vets. Nothing. The firing of Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans was the last straw for me. Their last airdate is the last day DOOLs will be on my DVR record list. What is it about Dena Higley that she can’t write for two of the most talented people in daytime, not to mention one of the most popular couples on this show? I came back to Days after 16 years, in 2006, for my favorite couple and that is the ONLY reason I came back. This show has always had a rich history and now it doesn’t. In my opinion the sands through the hourglass stop once Steve and Kayla exit.

I’m stunned. I can’t believe Mary Beth and Stephen were fired. Their fans have spent months writing to the heads of this show asking for a story or for them to be included in the stories. Why has this happened? We the fans are the ones that support this awful show and pay the salaries of the heads of this show. Well, now with Stephen and Mary Beth gone, I will no longer watch “Days” and I will no longer support it’s sponsers or NBC for that matter. I have been loyal to “Days”, but obviously Days and NBC have NOT been loyal to me as a fan of the show. This is not the kind of writing I want to watch. The way the characters are written—They’re not even likable people.

I’ve watched Days from day one. I truly believe that the end is in sight. Although I like the paring of Nicole and EJ and Sami and Rafe I don’t see a long future for the show with the firing of John and Marlena and now Steve and Kayla. There’s only so many ways and times they can replay the DiMera reign over Salem.

I can’t stand what this Ken Corday is doing to our show. This is not the first time. I have been watching this show for a long time. We need to get rid of Ken Corday. He makes me sick . He ruined our show. I wish I knew how. I can’t stand Chelsea with her whinning all the time. Get rid of her. She has no purpose. Max’s sister is another one to get rid of. She tries to talk like Marilyn Monroe and this gets on my nerves.

I just don’t get this. How can Days think that they will last anywhere close to the 18 months that they were given if they get rid of their veteran characters? There are many talented younger actors on the show but for me they just don’t have the experience to keep the show going without the vets. The firing of SN and MB has really thrown me and makes me the most angry.
Like many I waited 16 years to see them again. I was so thrilled when they announced that they were bringing back these wonderful characters but for me it’s been really bittersweet because they’ve had to work with stupid writing and also they’ve been used as background characters and also as props to boost up other characters.
Days has lost it’s balance as far as I’m concerned. Back in the 80’s each character was involved in something even if they were only involved in story lines in a small way. Everyone contributed. Unfortunately the writers today have the option of simply not writing for characters and for me that’s not doing their job. If they refuse to write for all characters on an equal basis then they are the ones that need to go so that the show can get a writing team that will write for everyone. After all this is an ensemble cast type show, it’s not a show centered around a few specific characters and couples.
I have been a loyal DOOL viewer since 1985 when I tuned in one day to see a tight blue-jeaned, long blonde haired, patched bad boy walk across the pier in cowboy boots. I was hooked, finding out he could actually ACT was a bonus. When they paired him with good girl Kayla Brady, I was in love with both of them.
I was heartbroken when Steve “died” in 1990, and stopped watching when they destroyed Kayla in 1992.
I watched only sporadically through the years after that. I read one day in 2006 that Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans were returning. I was ECSTATIC and started watching again.
While it was great to see them after all that time, they have been making lemonade out of lemons ever since.
Someone mentioned above that the writers say they don’t know what to do with Steve & Kayla. Well how about the conflict between them and Victor, he kidnapped Kayla when she was pregnant with Stephanie (among much other rich history between he and Steve) and now Stephanie is involved with Phillip. Hello…storyline. That connection alone could be mined for weeks and would give S&K a link to he present.
Stefano had Baby Joe Johnson, if the writers are going to make Stefano be the one that had Steve Hello…storyline, but that was never explored.
I love Steve and Kayla, will miss John and Marlena and Tony as well. The day Steve and Kayla are gone I am too, for good this time.
Wake up Corday and get off the golf course, get in your office, hire a GOOD writer (I could suggest a few) and bring this show back to the rich character driven show it once was.

Dena Higley doesn’t care or doesn’t know how to bring history into the writing. She starts things that are never finished.
I can beleive it since it seems the entire
world is going bonkers. And the “powers that
be” are just looking for a way to slm the lid
on DAY’S coffin and by firing the most popular
actors (thereby losing many viewers with each
firing) they can say the ratings fell too much
and they had to cancel the show. I’m done with
it as of today and hearing this latest fiasco.

You all could write better storylies than what’s currently being written. Kayla was away from Salem for 14 years. Surely there must’ve been at least one man who took an interest in her during that time. Her past has never really been addressed. Anyway, I’m as heartbroken and devastated as many of you are over this. I fell in love with them back in the 80s and was overjoyed when I heard they were returning in 2006. I wish I could look inside the minds of TPTB to see what they are thinking because they are doing a great job alienating many loyal fans. Need a few hugs…..
This doesn’t surprise me, and, I’m not that disappointed. I used to like Steve and Kayla alot during their first run at DOOL, but, now they have added nothing to the show since their return. There’s been no investment into their characters since they’ve been back mainly due to lack of storyline. The whole Ava Vitale storyline was really terrible and I was getting tired of watching a man almost 60 years of age calling other guys “dude” on the show. Bo is acting his age now. Why couldn’t Steve? Sorry Patch and Kayla fans, but I am one who is not sorry to see them go. John and Marlena devastated me, but not these 2.
I guess I’m like a lot of others: Distressed at this news. It’s taken me a couple of days to process it. I came back in 2006 because Stephen and Mary Beth were coming back. When I was a kid, I loved Steve and Kayla. Into adulthood, I loved Steve and Kayla..I got tapes, even!
I followed Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans to any shows they were involved with and when it was announced that they were coming back to Days, I came too. Only for THEM.
So now, after 2 and a half years of watching and trying to be patient while new headwriters came and went and needed time to acclimate to their new show and know the characters…After 2 and a half years of watching for any hint/spoiler of Steve and Kayla I could find, and watching them in their stories, I am now finished.
I’m finished with Days. I’m finished with NBC. I’m sorry, but I think once you let fans know that their feelings don’t matter, you’ve lost.
Days has lost. NBC has lost.
I was sad about J/M leaving, for the sake of their fans. But I still stuck around because you had Steve and Kayla and Bo and Hope. But now? No. Bo and Hope are not enough to hold me.

The Writers and Ken Corday doesnt care at ALL about fans i dont know who this show lasted this long all the good actors he keeps all the good ones he gets rid of the show has gone DOWN what a mess… I bee watching for at least 35 years .Never been such a bad show im not watching no more,,, Its sad!!

Well, it just plain out stinks! What is this show doing anyway? Getting rid of all the vets who ARE DOOL and have kept it afloat all years. I’ve watched since Patch came to town, fell in love with him and Kayla. After they left, I sporadically watched, then started up again and then when I heard they were returning I was ecstatic…they have not been ‘written’ for at all since their return. So much could have been explored and used to acquaint younger/newer viewers to their story and why they are the people they are today. What a waste of talent! I’m signing off on Days…bye bye
After reading all the comments above, it’s very hard to add much. Sounds like it has all been said. The major problem with this show in the past few years has been lack of quality storylines. It’s not the characters but what you give them to work with. Mary Beth and Stephen have been supporting characters where they could have and should have been up front. There has been so much potential to run with a story and the writing team has missed the boat every time. I was sad to see Marlena and John go. Tony was also starting to go places with Anna. Kayla and Steve are both excellent actors who can nail a scene every time. They could have been the next generation with Bo and Hope. Too bad that the writers missed this. Well good luck to DOOL because they are certainly going to need it. Remove your most beloved characters and watch what happens. They won’t make their next renewal date. They will be saving plenty of money then! Best wishes to Deidre, Drake, Mary Beth, Stephen and Thaao. They will be missed. My last day will be the same as Steve and Kayla’s last air date.
I have been a fan of Steve and Kayla’s since day one. (80’s) when they left then and so did I. I was beyond excited to hear that they were coming back in 2006. Now once again to be written into the shadows by a half-witted writing staff that has in short flushed the show down the toilet. Steve and Kayla’s last air date will be mine as well.
I`m totally disgusted that Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans have been fired. Yet they have kept certain vets. Vets that have actually had so many storylines over the years that they are probably going to be repeating storylines. Steve & Kayla have history with both the Kiriakis`s and the DiMera`s yet they decide to let them go and loads of potential for storylines — it makes no sense.
They bring back a character like Nicole and decide to write for her instead of what is right in front of your eyes. They decide to bring in new characters that people don`t know or care about. Tptb have not only insulted Stephen & Mary Beth but, all of their fanbase. They would rather throw the best in the business under a bus then try to think of a storyline for them. It wouldn`t involve too much thinking. It is right under the writers nose but choose not to use the opportunity because of the fact of the writer`s dislike for these 2 actors or her hatred for the Steve character is more important than what the fans like or want.
Gary Tomlin isn`t any better — they are 2 peas in a pod. SN & MBE totally went on the backburner as soon as Mr. Tomlin was hired. She, Dena Higley, is vindictive and her ego is much more important than anything else. Why listen to the worse writer in the business and take her side over Stephen`s & Mary Beth.
Too bad Mr Corday, I for one, and our fanbase will no longer watch the garbage you are spewing out daily on your show. That goes for the NBC network as well.
this in unbelievable…they are getting rid of the actors that made this show!! I have been watching this since 1967 but I don’t think I will be anymore. What purpose does Maggie have anymore? I guess they won’t be satisifed until they have no more people watching.
Stephen & Mary Beth are the only reason I came back to Days in 2006 and once they are gone I am also gone. This firing is a slap in the face to the many loyal fans and the actors themselves. Stephen & Mary Beth are two of the most talented actors on that show and their chemistry is undeniable. Without them the show isn’t worth watching. This couple continually win Hot off The Net polls week after week and I don’t understand how such a popular couple can be dismissed by the show without a second thought.
They are who I want to see along with the rest of the vets. This show could be on top of the game again if they could only understand the meaning of balance. I guess if NBC doesn’t care if I watch then I’ll just watch ABC or CBS instead.

I being watching Days since it started as a young girl… so I feel that you should fire all the new writers and hire ones that know what the show is about. Bring back John & Marlena, Steve & Kayla, Tony & Anna, Austin & Carrie, Bell & Shawn etc..etc…( great stories) It has being a disappointment to see over and over the same old store lines, (baby switch bull. Did your Writers forgot what Days of our Lives was all about. Love, Love & more Love…Day is not the show that is today. No wonder the show has low rating. Days writters have forgotten their most beloved couple of all time,Tom&Alice Horton. They r never mentioned and only Maggie, a daughter-in-law, not even true Horton is left to carry on family trations.
The old John&Marlena r still missed greatley. Now u say, Steve&Kayla r going away also. THIS IS A MAJOR MASTAKE. What next Bo&Hope gone also? Is there no end to axing the good couples? Why keep “the young dead weight “, and ax the good couples? Why bring back Steve&Kayla just to let them go? If they must go at leastlet them go in a way that they can return at some later date, if days is still on the air. Let them go to some calm restful place so Kayla&Steve can relax and help Kayla get over all the bad stuff that has happened and then BRING BACK THE OLD JOHN&MARLENA AS WELL AS PATCH/STEVE&KAYLA.

It is horribly disappointing to see what the powers at be have done to these amazing actors and actresses. These administrators, and that’s what they are acting like – not creative writers, producers, etc., – are NOT creating and giving what is wanted. It’s a sad day when top knotch actors are let go to keep mediocre ones on the payroll. It’s also a travesty when you have a head writer who refuses to write for the most popular couple on the show. Stephen and Mary Beth have won SOD’s Hot Off the Net poll consistently since they returned to the show in 2006. How do you get rid of them? They need to get rid of the tag team of Higley and Tomlin who are responsible for the mess you see on the show right now. Until they are gone more vets will go and the show will be comprised of characters and actors no one cares about. I came to DOOL with Stephen and Mary Beth and I will leave with them. I will take my money and spend it on products made by companies that don’t advertise on DOOL or NBC.

I had been a fan of DOOL since 1987, but NO longer! The direction the “powers that be” are taking DOOL is terrible! Firing the two best characters/actors on the show, John and Marlena, made me stop watching the show. Now, with the firing of Patch and Kayla, if I were still watching, I wouldn’t be any longer. This show now totally sucks!
I can’t flippin’ believe this. First John & Marlena, now Steve, Kayla & Tony!!! What the heck?!?!?!?!? If anyone can find out what Nicole did, it would be Tony who would then tell Stefano. And Stefano fireworks are the best kind! I guess Ken Corday really wants NBC to cancel the show because they’re sure getting rid of all the fan faves and putting the show in the toilet. What a darn shame! I’m so tired of all the bed hopping, whiney butt young females who change their morals & ethics everytime the wind changes. Shame on all of the DOOL head honchos! Is NBC and Days Of Our Lives trying to lose viewers. Was bad enough John and Marlena are gone, now it will be Steve and Kayla. These are a big part in why people love the show. I guess NBC doesn’t care about the viewer.
I agree with pretty much every post above. The show is just boring now with these teeny boppers jumping from one bed to another. Steve and Kayla always brought a sense of romance to the show even though the writers are incapable of writing romance. I can’t watch the demise of this show any more.
I started watching days again when steve and kayla came back. Now I have no reason to. Thanks a bunch Ken Corday. If you’re trying to get the show cancelled your succeeding.
I have watched Days of our Lives since they did the “Cruise of Deception” story line. I’ve always loved this show! However, recently it’s gotten seriously ridiculous! I’m still reeling from the firing of Drake and Deidre! And, now they are going to get rid of Marybeth and Stephen! I love Steve and Kayla! What a waste not giving them a front burner story! I agree that they could have some awesome storylines, starting with what Stefano and Rolfe did to Joe in the hospital lockdown. They are super actors who deserve to be on this show. And, now I’m even more ticked off that they are having Hope move out on Bo! What the hell! We need to have some more love scenes, and I don’t mean Dirty Dr. Daniel and Chloe. Who by the way are nasty, dirty!! I hope these blogs will convince the writers and Ken Corday to rethink the strategy they are using because it’s completely backwards,and before this fan and others really stop watching because I’m on the edge of just doing that!!!

I have been watching days since 1982 and have stayed a fan through some bizzare story lines and cast changes. BUT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! HOW CAN NBC THINK THAT THEY CAN TREAT THE FANS AND ACTORS OF THE SHOW LIKE THIS WITHOUT CONSEQUENCES IS BEYOND ME. I would have rather they had cancelled the show, at least that way the characters that we have all grown to love so much, would have had a decent send off. What they did to John and Marlena was appalling. Now Steve and Kayla. I think all the fans should boycott Days for 1 week to send a message to TPTB that we are its the fans who make a show what it is not the lame ass writers they have. I mean, get rid of the dead weight like Melanie, Kate, Stefano, Nicole, CHLOE AND DANIEL. They are a waste of time. Why did they bother bringing Tony, Anna, Steve and Kayla back. They never give them any decent storylines, if you think the Steve/Ava storyline was good, think again. Now instead of showcasing these actors wonderful talent, they are being fired. Days I think you just lost another fan.
I wish I could say I am surprised but I’m not. The way Days is treating it’s vets and their fans has been horrible for a while. So many Steve and Kayla fans left when they did and waited 16 long years to return to the show they loved. Stephen and Mary Beth are so talented and Days doesn’t see it! I guess Days thinks it’s worth the risk to loose such a large fan base again, and at a time when the show is suffereng…You would think they would want to keep the fans they still have left. I came back to days to watch Stephen Nichols and Mary Beth Evans reprise their role of Steve and Kayla. For the last three years I have stuck it out watching the show, hoping that they would be given a storyline that was worthy of their talents. They have done a wonderful job with what they have been given. Now in a blink of a eye it is all gone – they have been fired. Their last airdate will be my last with this show. I will no longer watch the train wreck that this show has become. It is so sad because it is like losing them all over again. Goodbye Days and goodbye NBC as I will not watch anything the network puts on.
Please allow us to keep our beloved Patch/Steve&Kayla. They bring a lots of good to days. It is great that Phillip&Stephany have broken up now put Max&Chelsea back together, Lucas&Sami,Stephano&Kate, Victor&Caroline and let us keep Patch/Steve&Kayla.

However if they must go, atleast give them a “go if u must but hurry back.} party. Have them go somewhere to sooth Kayla’s nurves and bring them back in a very short time with old John&Marlena.
I have watched Days of Our Lives since I was in High School. Marlena & John, Doug & Julie, Micky & Maggie, Tony & Anna, Bo & Hope, and even Stefano…They are the characters true fans tune in for. I have been recording the show so that I can fast forward through the commercials, but recently I have been fast forwarding through Phillip & Stephanie ( I prefer that she would be with Max)…I fast forward through Cloe & Dr. Jonas (they really make me ill), and I fast forward through anything with Melanie (she is really a terrible actress)…the only new couple I am hoping things will work out for is Sammy and Raffe. If the writers continue to dismiss our beloved characters, then they may as well close the doors. Why aren’t they listening to the fans???…if money is a problem, perhaps they should take a cut in pay because they certainly haven’t been earning it with the crappy story lines. Bring back John and Marlena! Don’t get rid of Steve, Kayla, and Tony! Let Bo and Hope finally stay happy and married!!! And stop making the story lines so unbelievable…we’re tired of people being possessed, buried alive, and in some other parallel universe on an island. Wake up NBC!!!…Save Days of Our Lives!!!
I am getting so angry at Days. I have been a fan of the show but I can’t get into these new or should we say less expensive characters. I think if they let Steve and Kayla go Bo and Hope will be next. What are we left with???????? Melanie, Philip, Stephanie, Max……..UGH!!! I am very disappointed in what used to be the most relative and romantic soap on TV.
I’m am really sad to see all the backbone charactors being removed from this fantastic show. I have watched for many years and have “grown up” with many of these actors. Its a sad sad time.
Oh my God! I just now heard about this. I also was thrilled when Steve and Kayla came back. This is unbelievable. They need to keep them and bring back Marlena and John, and they need to get rid of Max, Melanie, Stephanie, Kate, Daniel and EJ.
I am not surprised by this move at all. If anyone remembers what I stated when the news broke about Deidre & Drake being let go don’t be suprised if the other vet actors are let go. Well now its Thaao,Leann,Steve and Mary Beth. Could Peter & Kristin be not be far behind the exit door? Joseph(Stefano) and Suzanne(Maggie) and John A (Victor) are probably going to be next and James(Abe) could be going also. As I said before and I hate to be negative,Don’t be surprised if they all go.NBC wants out of the soap business and this is their way of doing it. Instead of doing like this, why just cancelled effective the end of 2009 and give all the charactors and nice sendoff? That would be a much classier way for the show and the great actors & actresses who made days for almost 44 years. Maybe Steve & Mary Beth will end up back at General Hospital. I guess I have to start watching All My Children alot more now so I can have something fall back when Days is cancelled. At least AMC takes place outside of my hometown of Philadelphia.
Looks like it’s time to make the switch to AMC. I already watch OLTL and GH, This will make it easy for me. The ones who need to leave Days Melanie, she looks like a 15yr old trying to wheel and deal with corporate America, Please!! Max, has no story and is boring when he does. Maggie, is an annoying busy body who would not be missed. Lucas, has no chemistry with any woman. He’s boring and annoying. Ali should have been EJ’s child. Bo and Hope could be great again with some story along with Steve and Kayla, these 4 should be the backbone of the show. John and Marlena were starting to bore me, I mean how many hits can one persons brain take, Please!! Stefano, has no story with all his tortured victims leaving the show. The only use he could be? Waiting to see what he will do to Nicole, O, but wait, we already know what he will do. Kill her, fry her brain, or lock her up some where in a foreign country for years, only to return years later and by that time days will be off the air. I love the Nicole EJ story, I love the two of them together and I hope when all is revealed, EJ will understand why Nicole did what she did, this is the best story on the show and the only reason I keep watching, I am waiting for a Brady Nicole romance to shake things up along with Sami and Rafe and EJ. Philip and Stephanie, this story is ok but they need to recast Melanie for her to be effective in any of this. Daniel, I cannot take this character seriously, He is nothing but a whore dog. What makes Clohe think she’s any different from the rest? And what is up with the bee hive effect in the crown of her and Steph’s heads, it gets on my nerves, I wish for once Clohe’s hair looked natural and not pasted on, the same with Stephanie. Where is Mrs. Horton? is this woman going to live to be 200? I guess Steve and Kayla are going to live with her, never to be seen again, along with Mickey, lol. We talk about them, they are just not here. Abe Theo and Lexi can go too, along with Kate, she is boring when she’s nice. They need to get Kate back with Victor, pit them against Steve and Kayla over the relationship with Phillip and Steph, there could be a lot of story there if they would keep them on. Philip, Stephanie, Brady triangle? Brady and Phil at each others throats in business and at home? Just a thought.I usually don’t comment on my shows like this, but when I heard Steve and Kayla were being written out, I could not stay silent because I have been waiting and waiting thinking the writers had something big planned for them and they were just waiting for the right time, This sucks Ass big time.
Sounds like there won’t be much to worry about in the future, I’m thinking Days will be cancelled if they are so unable to afford to pay their actors. It’s a shame about Tony being let go also. NBC could cut that 4th hour of the today show if they want to save some money.
After more than 30 yrs., I just can’t believe what’s happened to this show. It’s habit to record the show, but I just fast forward through it. If you want another show to watch that’s really good, watch One Life To Live on ABC. I started recording it also because I was afraid Days wasn’t going to make it this time and, after hearing about Steve and Kayla, I know I was right. The old Mimi from Days and the actor who played Tanner years ago are on OLTL. It’s so good! I don’t ever fast forward through the show and the hour goes so fast. It didn’t take long to learn the characters. They are always all involved in the show and connected some way or another. Just can’t believe how good a soap can be because Days is such a sorry show now. I wish the actors the best of luck and would love to see the ones we love who have been let go join OLTL. Seriously, give it a try. The writers are great and give you characters you can really care about like I used to about Days.
Well the show is really screwing it up. I don’t know what the problem is but the viewers are going to stop watching. I’ve watched forever and it’s really getting hard now with all my favorites being let go. Please re-think what you are doing.
Im kind of surprised that everyone making a comment is “SHOCKED”. The “Big Wigs” at Days have been treating us -the fans- like this for years. Days hasnt been the same for at least 15 years! Slowly they have sucked the life out of this show and now all of the sudden its like some great tidal wave has come in and just wiped it all away. I havent watched since Kayla and Steve came back and got such horrible story lines. But I do keep an ear out. Its discusting and completely unfair to fans. Bringing in all the little kids to “Act” like adults was definatley the undoing here. The only possible way this could be fixed, is for NBC to just cancel Days. Its sad but true and we all now this is what the “big wigs” wanted all along. They dont even respect us enough to give Days the send off it deserves. How sad.

I REALLY THINK THE CHARACTERS SUCH AS MOLLY,AND SEVERAL OTHERS SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE SHOW AND NOT STEVE & MARYBETH!!!!!!!!!! Days is really going downhill. All of the favorite characters are leaving or gettin fired. The writers need to stop and think. The older actors and actressess are the ones who make the show worth watching!!!!!!!!!!!

I have watched the show from day one. You could have axed Melanie,Max,Chelsea,Kate, Nicole, E.J, Dr. Baker, and several other bit actors and kept the stars who really made the show. Also get rid of Daniel. He is too old for either Chelsea or Chloe. All the program has become is a bed-hopping mess between the younger couples. It is disgusting to watch all those lust scenes. That is why a lot of us record the program and just watch when the good actors are on. No one I know cares about this digusting story of Nicole and the baby switch. Melanie cant act her way out of a paper bag. That fake toothy smile all the time. You not only fire the best actors and actresses but now you have Lucas a drunk again. If you get rid of the lousy actors with the lousy storylines you would have enough money to keep John and Marlena and Steve and Kayla. Why don’t you get it? NO ONE IS INTERESTED IN THE YOUNG BED HOPPERS AND THEIR LOUSY STORIES. Guess fans don’t count anymore. Sort of like the government toward the people!!!!!
I think someone needs to fire Corday. I don’t think he knows or cares what the fans that have watched this show for years want.

Such sad news that Tony/Anna/Patch and Kayla have all been let go after losing John and Marlena. I was so thrilled to see the old and trusted friends Days was known for for so many year. They were and still are super couples and should be allowed the dignity the deserve. Who is writing this?? Where do they think their viewers are going to come from to keep this show on the air? Are they trying to get the show canceled? Please if anyone can get information to the writers and Ken Corday..if you are trying to target only a younger market you are making a huge mistake. I have been watching since I was 13..that’s 42 years!! I have watched this characters play wonderful story lines. Family story lines. I’m sure it’s too late now. I doubt you could get these great actors back anyway. So so sad to go out this way.

The reason I began watching Days of Lives again was because of the return of Steve and Kayla. I am so disappointed I can hardly express it in words. Do the powers that be in charge of Days really believe we will keep watching if they continue to cut our favorite characters?
This is truly a shame. I have watched DOOL for 20 + years. First, growing up and watching with my Mother and now I watch with my Daughter. Sadly, my daughter will never know what a powerful show it really was. The most powerful and well respected characters have been removed from the show. I would rather have the show end completely that watch it slowly and painfully be destroyed. If some of these great characters are not brought back soon, we will quit watching. What a shame.
I am more and more convinced that the writers of this show have no clue of what the fans want. There was no reason bringing back the characters of John and Marlena, Patch and Kayla, Tony and Anna if it were to simply write them out a short time later. These actors are the backbone of this soap, the history of it if you will. The writers need to get a grip on what kills a thriving soap and what to do to keep it going. Thus far, they only know how to kill it. Very sad.
Gee, I wondered why I had not seen Steve and Kayla lately. I thought they might be smart enough to be thinking up a good storyline for them. This is why actors like Stephen and Mary Beth, Thaao and Deidre Hall and Drake Hogeston are let go, they do not have decent writers to keep the best characters in. The baby switch, I saw that coming, no surprise. Please do not get rid of these great characters! Tony and Anna are great together and the others were too. I think you should be listening to the fans1 Get rid of these writers and bring back the good characters. The best new character is Rafe, I hope hi and Sami get together, but please do not continue to cancel out the older charaters that have made the show go good.
I think all the people who have ever been fired or let go from this show should start another soap opera. It would probably be the highest rated soap out there. Shame to see all the favorites leaving or getting fired. I think I’ll move to Lucci land and start watching over there.

You might as well cancel the show completely. You have let go all the best characters that have been in the story line for years and years. I’ve watched this show from day one and am so disappointed in the show. I don’t even care if I miss a day or week anymore because you have ruined the show. If you think your decisions will help the show, you might want to start listening to the show’s fans. We are the ones who watch the show and without us, you have no show. Bring back the characters we love and have loved for a very long time!!!
I miss Steve and Kayla very much. I was so excited when I heard Stephen and Mary Beth were coming back but the writers never really had a plan for how to bring them back. They should have had Kayla come back first so we could get to know her. Show her working and with her family, being a mom, maybe dating. Then come to find out that Steve might be alive. A search begins. Steve is found and yes, maybe he has amnesia but a new romance is penned for them. That would have been really great!
Well, I can’t watch Days without Steve and Kayla. They didn’t even let me say bye to a couple I waited so long to see come back.
I guess I’ll just wait and see what Stephen and Mary Beth do next. I’ll just follow them.

People I don’t know what to tell you except that Ken Corday doesn’t seem to be listening or either he’s tired and leaving it up to the writers to try to go forward. I do however like Joseph Mascolo getting the opportunity to show his acting talent with the mob scene. I do think they need to have our other longtime cast of Days to remain on the show. The new ones popping in and out especially the high pitch Melanie which just doesn’t have it. I’m sorry I’ve listened to about all I can stand of her whining. They should have her and Phillip get on the plane and let it go down in the ocean with the both of them being lost till they grow up plus send old Mama Kate out after her sonny and let her get put back on the fishing boat. That was the best part she could play except the part of her being Stefano’s lady on the side. Maybe they’ll come to find out that Phillip is his instead of Victor’s cause you know the old girl got around.Too many main characters are being thrown to the wolves but hopefully Ken will come to his senses to bring them ALL back before it’s too late. Hope he doesn’t let the Family Jewel go down the drain as if its nothing. His parents would roll over in their graves as I hate to say this. I can’t even stand to watch Days anymore! I grew up watching it and now since I heard they let “PAtch” and Kayla go. I don’t even want to watch it ever!! Hope and Bo will be next just you all wait and see. All I know is that I gave up watching the show about 5 years ago and then I heard that Kayla and Steve were coming back, so I watched it again… but then they had the most RETARDED story line that I couldn’t bare to watch it, so I stopped and now I am glad because they are gone anyway. DAYS writers you are out of control and you need to get your heads out of your asses because you have ruined the best soap in history!! You suck and I am very sad!
Well I have finally had enough after 40 years plus of watching Days of Our Lives I turned off the T.V. It is so sad to see how Ken Corday and crew have destroyed Days in a short six month period. Just think I don’t have to worry about setting the DVR if I’m out at 1:00 anymore. I think I’ll spend an hour reading every afternoon now. Sorry Days sponsors you just lost another fan.
I’ve been watching Days for at least 28 years and it was than that it was getting better and better. Now, with John & Marlena and now Steve & Kayla and then Tony off of the show, There’s not much to watch. Its not as interesting. I really miss them guys, even though its been a short while. If you wanted to get rid of anyone, take the kids off. Say they all went off to College, like they usually do. But Geez, Keep the stars on. Its more worth while watching. I almost thought that Philip was going too, he just starting to get better, although , he was worth the watch too along with Billie. I’m not sure these producers know how to run a show.
My wife and I have watched days for over 30 years+ and its a disgrace that the writers can’t see that what they did is wrong. Removing the older ones. John, Marlena, Steve, Kayla, Tony and it would be nice to see Billie too again. They were the older ones and they made the show. I can’t figure out why Daniel is on here or Melanie or even Dr.Baker.While watching them it even sounds like your just having them on there for extra. There lines don’t make sence. When Philip got shot. Melanie shouldn’t have even been there to pamper Stephanie, it should have been Steve & Kayla.That even looked stupid to watch Melanie on that line,actually all her lines are terrible. I think you writers need to really think about what is happening here before its too late. Before long the teeny boppers will be running the show, its getting very close to that now and soon know one will be watching the show.Then you writers will be in big trouble along with the teenies. Think hard. I betcha ratings will go sky high when you get John, Marlena, Steve, Kayla and Tony back on. Try it and you’ll see.
I have been watching Days for 30 years. I even recorded it during my working years so I wouldn’t miss an episode. Marlena, John, Kayla, Steve, and all the Horton and Brady families became my family. I am so disappointed in Days that I hardly watch it any longer. I can understand why I haven’t seen the show get any Emmys like they used to. Whoever writes, directs and produces this show should be fired instead of our beloved old Brady and Horton families. I am for bringing back the old, truly good original actors and actresses who made this show so good to watch and the sponsors should urge NBC to fire the writers, directors and producers that are ruining the show’s reputation. Maybe if everyone raises a “stink” something good will come of it.

I can’t believe what is happening to my favorite soap! If anyone should go, it should be the writers. The older and favorite couples are what holds the story line together, if what they are writing now is considered a story line. People have had enough of Stefano, but the older couples, Bo and Hope, Steve and Kayla, John and Marlena, are the ones who keep the younger generation going. They need to bring them back plus the origianl Shawn and Belle. I have watched this show since day #1 but am seriously considering dropping it because of the poor decisions being made by the producers and writers.
I was a loyal fan for 30 years and stopped watching the show a year ago when Deidra and Drake were let go. I heard that Steven and Kayla were also released. What a waste. There is nothing but a bunch of kids with bad story lines and a few has beens left. I’m glad I gave up a year ago but it saddens me that you all don’t get it or care. He was killed in their kitchen, then I see him back in the body of Kevin Dobbs, then I don’t see him, except in pictures,(the old Mickey), but apparently he was alive until his second death recently.
