On Thursday, March 25, Days of Our Lives stars from the past and present gave tribute to the legendary actress Frances Reid, who passed away on February 3. The tribute took place at the NBC Commissary in Burbank. Among those present included Deidre Hall (ex-Marlena), Suzanne Rogers (Maggie), Alison Sweeney (Sami), Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes (Doug and Julie), Maree Cheatham (ex-Marie), Susan Flannery (ex-Laura, Stephanie, B&B), Melissa Reeves (ex-Jennifer), Matthew Ashford (ex-Jack), Christie Clark (ex-Carrie), Bryan Dattilo (ex-Lucas), Jason Cook (ex-Shawn), Peter Reckell (Bo), and Kristian Alfonso (Hope).
According to Soap Opera Digest, the memorial tribute began with an address from executive producer Ken Corday and a slideshow of the beloved actress over the years. April Rocha, Reid's great-niece, put together the slideshow. Deidre Hall had the crowd roaring with laughter as she recalled how forthright Reid was. Suzanne Rogers recalled her first meeting with Reid when she first joined DAYS many years ago: be on time, be prepared, and don't keep the other actors waiting when you're called to the set. Additionally, there was a video clip of scenes featuring Reid's time on the show, including her touching last scene with Melissa Reeves before she left the show in September 2006.

Alison Sweeney also posted how wonderful the tribute was on Facebook, recalling some of the cast members who were there. Look for several cast members from the past to return to the show to pay tribute to Alice Horton, as previously reported.

I’ll always remember Frances Reid as my Granny Horton and the beautiful wonderous actress she played on Days and all the other movies she starred in. Shining Star is what she will always be in my heart. The best Shining Star ever put on God’s Green Earth as she always made an impression on me and was there for me on the show as I used her tactics raising my children as she did her daytime children. So Days did another wonderful thing by giving her the best part in her life and that was to be there trying to tell everyone including all of us out here watching the soap operas how to do and be good in life. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and it has an empty place that will never be filled again as it broke the day you were called home to a better place dear precious Frances Granny Horton Reid. Thanks for our memories that we will have till we meet again. We love and miss you so very much. Please tell all the others that have left us behind hello too when you reach Heaven to become our Sweet Angel. Rest in peace forever and a day sweet Granny. A fan for more than 40 years and still counting. Shirley Wildes in Okeechobee, Florida. Peace be with you.
Wounderful, of all those Frances Reid, {Alice Horton Mrs. H.} worked with all those years, to come together in memorial of Alice Horton, {Frances Reid”.
I awaite the tribute to Alice Horton on Days of our lives.
I’ve been watching Days all my life…Frances, (Alice) has become like a part of my own family. Days will never be the same without her! Rest in peace Francis Reid, you have enriched my life!
I also grew up with Alice and the Hortons as my mother watched it from the beginning. They were what is missing today from many families- love, loyalty and laughter. Thank you for being such a wonderful role model Frances, both on screen and off! You will be missed but not forgotten.
We must all remember Alice Horton, and never forget her. Who will be making Mrs. H’s doughnuts now? Simpley must be a member of the Horton family. Who will be giving out Alice Horton’s bits of wisdom, such as “let go and let God. Family and friends always.’ this must also be a family member. Isn’t there some way we can keepher “in the back ground”, at days?
