Though unconfirmed by Days of Our Lives, it looks like two more stars from yesteryear will be returning to the show. Sources say that Christie Clark will reprise her role as Sami's sister, Carrie. And, of course, where Carrie goes Austin follows. Only this time around Patrick Muldoon will be playing the character and not Austin Peck.
Clark, who debuted on Days back in 1986, last appeared on the show in June 2010, when Carrie briefly returned as part of the show's farewell to matriarch Alice Horton.
Austin was last seen in 2006, when Peck portrayed the character. At the time, he and Carrie wed and then moved to Switzerland. Peck went on to play Brad Snyder on As the World Turns and is currently appearing as Rick Powers on One Life to Live.
Muldoon originated Austin in 1992, when the character arrived in Salem as a scrappy boxer, who immediately caught the eye of both Carrie and Sami. He left the show in 1995 to pursue other avenues.
Bringing Muldoon back now is a gutsy and intriguing move on Days' part. While longtime viewers will no doubt appreciate seeing the original Austin back, Peck had developed a strong following during his tenure on the show. In fact, he racked up more years as Austin - 8 as opposed to 3 - than his predecessor.
It will be interesting to see how the move pans out.

I have prayed for the removal of Tamara Braun from day one. I heard she was leaving 06/30/11 but alas, she is still on the show. I’m hoping that she will not forgive E.J. and leave town for good. I must admit her performance today, 07/11/11 was the best I have seen from her, but she really needs some more acting lessons if she continues to pursue an acting career. I always watch a second and then fast forward. She is probably a nice person but her acting ability, or lack of, has always been poor in my estimation and I have years of experience in show business and usually am a pretty good critic when it comes to talent. I do wish her success in the future.
i thought she was great as Ava Fatali (sp) the evil ex of Steven…i really loved her in that bad a$$ role. i have to admit i didnt like her as the good girl at all…i love her as the bad girl! but there is enough nicole to go around lol.
I really hopre they bring the good old and new soundtrack that made days special. The song theme were at the center of all the chemistry of the show. The end credits as well showiing DAYS OF OUR LIVES AT the end, the music that continues at the end as a movie that brought the suspense and the excitement. Come Days, I am an old time fan here who are really anxious to find its soap back! I did nopt watch it for ten years, since actually it lost its chemistry but with all the characters back, it can be possible to bring bakc the chemistry.

I’m glad Carrie is coming back! But I do NOT want to see anymore of John and Marlena. I was sick (I mean feel in your stomach kind of sick) for years before Days finally and wisely got them off. Speaking of staying away, I really hope they do not bring Jack back. What a dumb a** he always was! Jennifer was always WAY too good for him. But more than anything, Days, I beg of you – keep John and Marlena away! I have watched Days for 20 years – would have been 23 but I couldn’t handle the years of Marlena as the devil and the horrid non-Missy Reeves “Jennifer”.

Marlena is a great character to bring back – even John (who’s kinda hard to take seriously as an actor with his Elvis sneer) is better than these two.
Yes, let’s get some of the older actors back & revitalize the show.
