Bo and Hope fans have heard it before. A new head writing team comes in and promises gripping story for their favorite Days of Our Lives supercouple, but they end up disappointed by another lackluster plot. It makes you wonder if Marlene McPherson and Darrell Ray Thomas will succeed, where others have failed.
As someone who has watched Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso's onscreen magic since they joined the show in 1983, it's been frustrating watching so many writing teams drop the ball with the charismatic couple.
I wasn't a big fan of the Nighttime Hope story and loathed the horrific organ stealing prison plot that followed. And, although I was glad to see Bo and Hope reunite earlier this year, they've had nothing to do since.
Watching the husband and wife cop team investigate beatings and mob hits or grill EJ and Stefano at the DiMera manse does not a storyline make. Fans want to see real drama between Bo and Hope, conflict around them that tests their love and strengthens their commitment to each other.
McPherson recently tweeted, "We love your passions for your favs. We can't please everyone - but we hope compelling story will keep you happy."
And it will. But it has to be "compelling story," not more dull, boring scenes at the cop shop. Hopefully, McPherson and Thomas will be able to create something meaty for Reckell and Alfonso to really sink their teeth into. They deserve it, and so do their devoted fans.

I totally disagree Janet. I LOVE what Bo and Hope are doing–their work. Just doing stories about their personal life gets boring. I love seeing this supercouple in action at work! I love how Hope REALLY loves her job and see it as fun too (the reaction when Bo had made her deputy).

Usually when you don’t see a child for a long time, it’s because they’re planning on making them older, so next time we see Ciara, she might be played by a different, older child actress.

Please put EJ and Chloe as the power couples of Salem not Bob and Hope. I put EJ and Chloe pictures beside each other and I think they look great together and let Chloe kind of have the upper hand on Kate. Chloe and EJ be dump by all the intended so make them the most powerful couple in Salem along with Stefano. Do not ever take EJ and Stefano power away from them or the show is dead, just like Bo and Hope, Sami and Rafe, Gabbi and Will. Please make EJ and Chloe the most exciting couple in daytime history.
Has anyone checked out what’s in store on Days in the fall? Wow! I am SERIOUSLY LOVIN’ IT! I can not wait!

I agree with you Sylvia, EJ and Chloe would make a very vengeful couple. Send Chloe away for now to recover but have her come back as a Street Smart gal instead of a victim all the time. I bet she has got some devil in her and EJ would be the perfect person to bring it out of her.
Here’s hoping Bo and Hope fans do get good stories for them. Under Dena’s pen, they’ve been two of the three stooges. Smugness is not a good look for them,
Don’t mess up Bo and Hope’s personal life, as it has been done so many times before, and failed. Anyone who has known Bo and Hope since 1983 know that they only love eachother, and will never love anyone else. It was always so frustrating to watch either of them be attracted to anyone else, because that is so NOT who they are as a couple. I’ve stopped watching more than once because of those storylines. Keep them fighting those bad guys together like the Bo and Hope Supercouple we all know and love!
I’m so happy that they’re bring back alot of the past characters especially John & Marlena. How about bringing back Bo & Roman’s little brother Matt? Also bring back Max & Frankie would be nice also. We haven’t seen or heard from Matt since late 1988. I remember when he had flings with Melissa (before Pete) and Jennifer (before Jack) They were teenagers back then.
I have watched Days of Our Lives since I was born (in 1967 and my mom watched it from the beginning). I have been loyal throughout and love Bo and Hope. I have never felt any pairing outside or Tom and Alice can top their pairing. I got sick of John and Marlena but will be glad to see them return as well. It is time to have the older folks have all the major storylines and give them enough to do to keep them for a while. If they do, Days will be back on top for sure! I also love the Maggie/Victor romance although I admit I was a little surprised at the pairing at the beginning! The cancer scare for Sami was also a smart move, although hasn’t she been through enough drama for a bit?

to the 80s fan, i don’t remember a matt brady. max and frankie yes. max is in london with chelsea and frankie is in washington i believe. i’ve watched the show since the 70s and i don’t remember a matt brady.
You can rotate the writers all you want. You can’t fill the shoes of the writers back in the 80’s! You can’t create riveting drama, humor, suspense and good old fashioned romance for Bo & Hope or the other classic couples on the show? I challenge you to prove the die hard fans wrong! We know good soap opera stories when we see them. These past several years was just embarrassing for the execs.
The Bo Hope thing is getting tiresome. Too many other loves and going back to each other. Plus the cop thing is getting really old. Chloe should not leave, she makes the show. But, to have a glorious strong woman become a simpering fool is plain stupid. Write the story like this “with all the birth tampering, we find that Parker IS really Dr. Dan’s.” The chemistry between them was incredible and no real man would have dumped her because of HOW she was tricked. Writer error. The Jennifer/Dan thing is all wrong–no chemistry. It is Alice in Wonderland with Phantom of the Opera!
The story with Sami and the cancer is plain stupid. Why bother? And geez, she was allergic to something? She practically lives at that hospital, they should know the dirt under her fingernails!! Poor story.
Loving Maggie/Victor. Nicole is very strong and I hope she finds some kind of love.
I read that “what’s his name” is coming back to sweep Vivian off her feet, that he is very rich now. (can’t remember his characters name oh, yeah, Yvonne). Now, when Viv left the last time didn’t he win the lottery and they went off to get married? Hey writers, we long time fans do remember!!@
Anyone remember when young Bo and Hope went to Oak Alley and had a beautiful and sexy time? That was fabulous and so romantic. Wining and dining is always in style. Chloe and EJ together is interesting but I cannot help myself…I LOVE EJ and Sami together. Not since Luke and Laura of General Hospital fame,have I ever seen two actors make my tv smoke!

I have been watching since Day One 40+ years. Don’t appreciate ridiculous plots. Right now all plots are believable. Love Maggie/Victor and Bo/Hope and Nicole/Brady. Kate not so much. EJ/Stefano, Sammy/Rafe OK

Bo and Hope surely belong together!!! Please don’t break them up again. It is so nice to see them getting along so well as a family. We need more happiness in stories now because we have enough tragedy in this world NOW. I don’t know why people want “DOOM AND GLOOM” all the time. You don’t have to have it to make a GOOD story!!!!
Get more comedy and drama involved with the characters and not so much sucky face. Everyone does the same thing

I love Bo & Hope, but would also appreciate the return of Steve & Kayla. They are my all time fave couple.

Been watching since 1967 – I agree with another viewer, way too much kissee face. I used to DVR the show so I could fast forward thru the commercials, now I fast forward thru all the (stupid) mushie scenes as well. By the time I’m done, I’m lucky if there’s 20 minutes of actual good viewing. Many of your long time viewers are older (such as myself). We’re way beyond the mushee crap. If you’re trying to attract younger (more impressionalbe and/or delusional) viewers, keep up the mush and say adios to us mature viewers. Come on writers, put on your thinking caps before “Days” ends up going the way of ABC’s two cancelled soaps. I’m done.
i’m getting tired of the retreads. latest example; stephano/ej frames someone & ej’s kid’s get hurt by the action. hopefully new writers can try something different. how about a storyline involving kate. she is so attractive, why not give her a young love interest. understand me, she’s not attractive for an older lady, she’s attractive; period.
Days is becoming a real crime and deceit series. I would not want my teenagers watching this story and until some of it solved, I refuse to even turn it on. Imagine children watching guys getting a knife in the back. thugs suppose to be running all over town, lies and hate scenes, crooks. Nothing good happening, never a crime solved. What are those writers thinking about? I could go on and on. I am fully aware it’s only fiction, however……….
i know you have to keep days at a suspense. but i am big bo and hope fan. i watch everyday and even older clips of them… they make a wonderful couple… plse keep them together…. do something to stefano nothing bad ever happens to him,,,
