Patrick Muldoon has been on information overload, since returning to Days of Our Lives as Austin Reed. Having left the show in 1995, he's had to catch up on everything that happened during the 8 years Austin Peck played the character.
"There's no manual," concedes Muldoon. "You have to go back and ask what the storylines were with Austin Peck. So I'm just grabbing it from cast members. I've asked Lauren Koslow (Kate) what's gone on. I've asked Alison Sweeney (Sami) what's happened."
And Muldoon has heard plenty.
"The thing is you can't really play all the history, but some of it is relevant," says Muldoon. "What I'm doing is taking in whatever is relevant to the scene I'm doing.
"If I need to know what happened with Stefano, since he and Kate got married, that's relevant," continues Muldoon. "If I need to know what's happened between Austin and Sami for a specific scene, that's relevant. You have to pick and choose, because you can't be overloaded.
So what's the most shocking thing Muldoon's heard about the Austin years since he exited the show?
"The other day at lunch Ali was telling me something about Austin and the Garden of Eden and fighting the devil," recounts Muldoon. "I was like, 'Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. I can't use this.' I thought she was kidding."
Too bad, she wasn't. That debacle of a story actually happened.

I sure can’t wait for the new writers to take over. The stories lately are snooze time. BORING. And what is that business with Sami and the cancer? Totally a filler story for the old writers. And geez, hasn’t she been in that hospital enough times to have them know what she is allergic to?? Lazy writers who are leaving.
The Chloe story line is disgusting. And Dr. Dan is disgusting the way he treated her. Poor writing. She was trapped and tricked.
I am so glad they bought back Patrick Muldoon because I really enjoyed his acting and I try to see every thing that he has been in. I would really love an autographed pic of him. I have one of Sean.

When they released ‘rumors’ of everyone returning: Carrie, Austin, Lucas (Bryan Dattilo), John, Marlena, and Nathan, which of those characters/actors do you think generated the most feedback from fans, all over the media, and the web… Cause I don’t know about you, but I sure didn’t see much interest from the majority of fans about Carrie or Austin either one… But you know who fans were, and still are, demanding to see back, and mad as heck because they were lied to–Bryan Dattilo as Lucas. No matter what you think of him, he was on the show for 17 years and is a fan favorite. Run a poll with his name in it of what actor/character fans would rather see back than any other, and I can guarantee you his name will be near the top of the list, if not at the top.
I can’t stand Carrie!! Goodie two shoes and the actress who plays it has such frozen expressions. The new/old Austin just isn’t a good fit! They have him wearing the cheesiest pimp suits, he looks greasy and always has a clueless look on his face like he doesn’t belong, I miss the old AustinAustin lol.
I would LOVE to have Lucas back! Everyone loves to hate him, yet sympathize when he gets screwed over by women. And his alcoholism can be brought out for tons of stuff!
I hate the new Abbi, first of all she has brown hair and eyes, and both of her parents are blonde with blue eyes! She just bothers me with her pouty faces. Jennifer always goes back to Jack, ugh I like him but c’monnnn! Daniel is way more reliable, but Jen sucks and doesn’t deserve him anyways.
They need to bring back Sean and Bell. I miss those two the most. Even Mimi was good. I just think that Sean and Bell have been gone far too long. I would like to see Kayla and Patch . However Patch is on Y and R now so I doubt it and bringing back someone else as him just does not cut it.For example the new Austin. …… sorry NOT working for me.
I agree that Days would have been better off bringing back Lucas and Anna rather than Austin and Carrie. Carrie is okay but I can’t take to this Austin…. something about him bothers me… can’t put my fingr on it.. big fan of Days since Hope was a litle girl… a long long time….

I have watched Days for over 25 years and I have to say that I cannot stand this Austin. If they were going to bring one back it should have been Austin Peck. This Austin looks older than kate who is supposed to be his mother! Why does he look sooooooo old? Its just to unrealistic for me. I am seriously debating on stopping watching – between this Austin and John and Marlena, they are driving me nuts!
No way! No one can play the role of Austin better than Patrick Muldoon!! Austin Peck NEVER mastered the art of showing much emotion when it came to Carrie. NO one could ever match the chemistry there was betwen Patrick Muldoon and Christie Clarke. Any carrie/austin fans from the beginning should agree!!
