Molly Burnett has said her share of goodbyes during her three-year run as Days of Our Lives' Melanie. First, she lost TV "dad," Roscoe Born (ex-Trent). Then, Darin Brooks, who played her "brother," Max, left the show. But she bid the toughest goodbye of all to her TV mom, Crystal Chappell (Carly).
"It was heartbreaking," says Burnett, remembering her last scenes with Chappell, which air on September 22. "Saying goodbye is always a hard thing to do, and saying goodbye to Crystal was very hard. But I know she's going to go off and do amazing things."
Burnett admires Chappell and admits she learned a lot from her.
"Crystal brings her A game every time she films a scene," notes Burnett. "So you want to bring yours to stay with her. She always inspired me to work really hard."
Like a good mother, Chappell offered Burnett advice before leaving Days. Namely, "Just keep working hard and save your money," recounts Burnett, adding that she's "trying and doing a relatively good job."
To Burnett's delight that "working hard" has already led to a new project: she's joined the cast of Chappell's web series, Venice.
"I always knew Crystal and I would work together again," smiles Burnett.
She just didn't know it would be so soon.

The relationship between the characters that Molly and Crystal portrayed was one of the most realistic & heartwarming. Crystal is a terrific actress and you could see Molly grow from working with her. Looks like Molly agrees with that too.

She is a fine actress and it is a lose for the show… And you Molly are so lucky to work with her and you rock also… Mel is a great character and you have gotting so much better since day one.. It’s heartbreaking to see Crystal leave. Wow, what a great actor! Who could possibly fill her shoes? Also love the wonderful talents of Nadia. Wish they would keep her and reunite her with Brady!

I find it very hard to believe Melanie hooked up with Dario to begin with. She is much too smart to date a guy who robbed her no matter what his story was.
Love Melanie(Molly) on Days.She keeps me watching, the whole storyline with her at Maggie’s house really kept me watching.I identify with Melanie on so many levels. Carly is awesome they should keep the good ones.

Melonie is a great actress!! Beautifully stunning, almost in that greek goddess sort of a way. She has always been dealt a dirty hand on Days and I will be sooo glad when they put her with a man that she can stay with and be happy.. I think her and Dario were an adorably cute couple. But if she had to he with someone else, I say her and Brady might make a good couple. Would just have to see them together as a couple and see how they are together.. As for Carly, I wish she wasnt going, but at least Mel has Daniel to lean on, which is one hot daddy! Lol
I love Melanie but have never really gotten attached to Carly. She is good actress and will go places but didn’t like her for breaking up Hope and Bo, glad they’re back together…

I HATE that Carly is leaving! Let Hope leave, shes so boring. It would have been perfect for Carly and Daniel and Melanie and Nikolas to be a family again, but NO lets put Daniel with drippy Jennifer and send Carly off to God knows where. I hate that show anymore..
I think Mel is a welcome, cute, and adoring actress. She brings a lot to the show with her cute little ‘matter a fact’ ways. She’s a keeper!!

Glad Carly is leaving. Sick of seeing her cry all the time. However, I love Melanie and what are they going to do with Nick now that he came back? How are they going to get Carly off the show. I love Daniel and Jennifer and I love Chloe but I heard she was leaving. I would like to see her stick around and get her baby back.

I really like Molly. She is just as friendly in real life as on the show. My sister works at the Denver Airport and Molly came through and was really nice to talk to. She giggled a lot talking about the show ! I will miss Carly too.

Crystal may be a good actress, but her role was simply exhausting to watch…every scene she is sad, wimperingly weak and crying. I love Molly because she bring so much “Live” to her scenes and with so much stress going on she is a joy to watch. I am glad Dario is leaving too, because he was way too intense and melodromatic…just hope they don’t bring back Nathan (unless its a different actor).
So many mixed comments – pros and cons of Crystal and Molly that I had to put my two cents in! I love them both and will miss Crystal. She is so genuine in her acting and feelings for her character and what she’s going through that she is actually crying with tears and the plugged up nose. She has made me cry on more than on occasion during Carly’s drug addiction story; that’s how real she has become to me. I love Molly Burnett with her bubbly personality and big smile with that laugh that is so infectious. I know that they will miss each other very much as they have portrayed mother and daughter so well! Best of luck to Crystal on her future endeavors; she will be missed by many Days viewers!

Gee Sami where to I begin, The fact that your remote control doesn’t have working batteries so you can change the channel or the fact that you seem to be age discrimiating. Shame on you. What difference does it make the actor’s ages. The proof is that DOOL has been on the air for 46 years. That must mean there are fans out there who enjoy the program.

Abigail, Gaby, Kate,Sami 7 Hope are the sexist to me. Maggie is also attractive and looks great being in her 60’s. I only hope to look that great when I’m in my 60’s

I normally don’t scold people because everyone has a right to their opinions even if I don’t agree with it but in your case I’m making an exception.
How DARE you down those so called 65 plus year olds like Joe (Stefano), Deidra(Marlena),Drake(John), John A.(Victor), Suzanne(Maggie), Lauren(Kate) who by the way is only in her 50’s and calling Kristin(Hope) that name. I’m only 26 but I have watch Days since I was very little with my Mother and I remember them from back then plus seeing clips on Youtube of Days before I was born. Those fine Actors & Actresses made Days what is was and is. Also you need all ages to make a show like in life. If it was just all a certain age group it would be boring. As Ellen said if you don’t like it, change the batteries in the remote and change the channel and thanks to Ken Corday for keeping Days going.

Agreed Patricia about Gaby being one of the sexiest. I liked the way Hope looked when she wasn’t as skinny, although she does have that healthy-looking “runner’s-look” about her. Nice and lean.
I think Chloe would be a lot sexeir if she didn’t wear so much makeup. She looks gorgeous already; she doesn’t need to wear so much.
I have to agree with Patricia, they were and are the backbone of DOOL’s! The ones you call old, are the main characters that built the story to where it is today. The younger characters do bring more story lines, but without the main people it would just be another failed soap. Give them a chance you might come to realize how important they are to the main storyline.
Molly has class and she knows talent when she works with it. Loved the Melanie/Carly relationship. Will miss Crystal and her character Carly very much. CC is by far the best actress on that show. (The only ones that are happy she is leaving are the Bope fans.) Goodbye Days after 9/22. Days is not long for the road reboot or not!

I’m a Bope fan but I am sad to see Carly leaving. If fact I’m sad that all the ones lket go are leaving, even Gus & Kinsey. It would have been nice to have kept Carly and maybe have her get back with Daniel or maybe Roman since he’s the one with no one right now, but thats life. Things change.
Also Michele and to everyone who is saying that they’re not going to watch Days after this week, please give the new format a chance first before you abandon Days. You might just like it very much. Just my 2 cents.
Didn’t like Carly and I think Mel should have left with her. I’m sick of that character. They need to bring back Chelsea Brady back!!Loved the actress who portrayed her. Shame she left.
I for one am pleased to see all the original characters coming back to resurrect their characters. When they try to bring them back, and they aren’t the originals, it just doesn’t seem right. We all remember the real ones and anything else just doesn’t compare. I’m so excited to see them all again I can hardly wait. Please keep them on for a long, long time, as we have missed them and what they brought to the story line.

I think that they should cut Kate and all the new ad ons and bring Carly back. She added so much to the show; Crystal’s acting is phenomenal and her character is so real and believable. No matter who they pair her with, she was an awesome character. As for the problem she had overcome before leaving, I think the medical board should put her on a temporary no practice, and looking at all the medical wonders she has done, they should be merciful and bring her back eventually. I would be her patient.
