When Marlena Evans Black was last seen on Days of Our Lives, she was exchanging "I Do's" with her beloved John. Then, the pair headed off to Europe where, John, who'd been stricken with paralysis, was to receive cutting edge medical treatment.
Deidre Hall, who portrays Marlena, is set to resurface on the daytime drama on September 26, along with Drake Hogestyn (John).

We know why characters are leaving, but what’s the story of all these previous characters retuning?
Were they all living out-of-town then suddenly everyone decided to move back?
Strange.
reading the new storylline…am not too impressed…will miss all the actors that have left or are leaving days of our lives
By the way, to avoid any misunderstanding. I mean why are the people characters in the storylines coming back I’m (not talking about the actors).
Days told why Dario, Carly, etc. are leaving Salem, but like all of a sudden Doug and Julie shows up (as are many others) with no explanation other than for the big party? Where have they been? Living away from Salem? I can see them returning just for the party, but I’m assuming they are here to stay (at least for a good while), so what’s all of their reasons to leave behind where all past characters were living and come back to Salem to stay?
Maybe all will be reveled as each one arrives….
