Days of Our Lives Confirms Will Is Gay

By November 1, 2011

Follow me on:

Chandler MasseyAfter months of toying with the idea of making Days of Our Lives' Will Horton gay, the show has finally decided to move forward with the controversial storyline. EW.com has confirmed that the character will come out of the closet over the next few months.

Chandler Massey, who plays Will, is all for the upcoming plot twist. "I'm thrilled to be able to portray my character in an empowering way that will show his struggle to accept who he is. It is my hope that this storyline will inspire others to be true to themselves as well," said Massey via a statement.

Fans have been speculating about Will's sexual orientation ever since rumors began circulating that the character might be gay, a few months back. Ironically, those rumors picked up momentum after Will lost his virginity to his girlfriend, Gabi, last summer, and then lost all interest in sleeping with her again.

Days' stance on this storyline remains strong and steadfast. Co-Executive Producer Greg Meng told EW that the soap was excited to have support from both NBC and Sony "to tell the inspiring story of a young man learning who he is as he defines and creates his relationships with others."

The show, however, isn't saying whom Will will eventually find love with. Originally, word was he would hook up with Justin and Adrienne's gay son, Sonny. Now, it looks like he might find romance elsewhere.

Great… more scenes I can just FF through watching the “new” DOOL! Do you see a walk on op for Chaz?

Great Harriet! I guess you are prejudice. The world should be inclusive. Guess not in your world.

I am so happy they are continuing with this storyline. Harriet ignorant people like you make me sick. I hope someday all people can feel comfortable with themselves and not have to endure the senseless hate that exists today.

(4) mobo says:

I think this will be a good storyline not only from Will’s perspective but also Gabi’s. Will she internalize this and take his choice as a personal rejection? Will this have any impact on her self-image? It shouldn’t, of course, but the character is very young and will be responding emotionally as opposed to rationally. Big job for these actors…I hope the writers do it well!

(5) Chaz says:

Harriett, you are a homophobe. Shame of you. This is why soaps are dying…

(6) WTF says:

Are you kidding me, this sucks, we don’t need to see gay crap on tv and not even in public!!! This just disgusts me!! Days I hope you will change your mind!!!!!

November 1, 2011 at 9:54 pm
(7) Too bad says:

I have watched Days for over 20 years and have been so proud that there were no gay characters. Call me what you want but its wrong and sick. And after 20 years of being a devoted Days fan, after this it can fall by the wayside as the other cancelled soaps. Its just too bad! Shame on Days for giving in to the gay agenda.

(8) Lorrie says:

I’m curious (in a way) if those who hate seeing gays on soaps also hate seeing blacks or other ethnicities on soaps too….

Mobo, I’m am so there with you! I also can see a lot of script material here….Like with his family. Some could wholeheartedly accept Will, others could accept gays in general, as long as one is not a member of the family…While others can dislike gays altogether but was always quiet about it.

Phone ringing–gotta go!

(9) acdc says:

I am thrilled with this! I love the idea of Will being gay! To those of you with narrow minds and prejudicial hearts, why not walk in someone’s shoes other than yours for a change. Imagine if you had to keep your heterosexuality in the closet and found coming out that you were hetero would bring down hatred, bullying, hate crimes, prejudice and all sorts of negativity towards you. It would suck right. Love in both the hetero way, gay, lesbian, bi and transexual communities is beautiful. Instead of spending time hating and being ignorant, open your mind and learn something. Visit a local PFLAG(Parents And friends Of Lesbians and Gays) and get some brochures, meet people and voice your own side and then leave yourself open to hearing the sides of parents and friends and how they learned to open their minds and hearts to acceptance. God loves us all excluding no one from His love. We should be exemplifying that, too in our lives. I know it is just a daytime drama programme but, it can also be a portal of education on very pertinent issues which all face. You have to have a basis of realism in all drama and comedy for it to be believable. In our lives we encounter all sorts of fantastic people of all cultures, walks of life, ethnicities and sexual orientations. What a great world to be a part of! God made us all as we are. Sexuality is not a choice. He made us all different to teach us tolerance and acceptance, not to have us turn round and breed hate and ignorance. He does NOT hate and we should not either.

(10) Harriet says:

I don’t think it means a person must be a homophobe just because they find a gay storyline offensive. I also would be offended if they had yet another pimp/forced prostition storyline or some other victimization of women as they like to do on DOOL! Same thing for rape, promiscuity etc. Good story telling needn’t hinge on that . I like, watch and admire lots of gay entertainers, Ellen, Adam Lambert, Neil Patrick Harris to name a few. I love the Carver family, hope they don’t break them up. It just seems like the writers have run out of any original ideas and keep making some of the characters look like a bunch of clueless nitwits. So as long as I can push the FF I’ll just watch the little bits that ARE entertaining.

November 2, 2011 at 8:47 am
(11) M says:

Nothing against gays, but must we have if forced down our throats all the time? Just another reason not to watch Days. And no, I AM NOT homophobic either. I have relitives that are gay. Just tired of having it forced on me at every turn.

November 2, 2011 at 10:45 am
(12) happypants says:

Just because someone doesn’t like the idea of a “gay” storyline does not make them a homophobe. People who start calling names because someone else does not agree with them is what is offensive.

November 2, 2011 at 10:52 am
(13) happypants says:

Lorrie, since when are gays considered to be an ethnicity? There are gays present in every ethnic group so your comment makes no sense. Gay refers to sexual orientation, not ethnicity.

November 2, 2011 at 11:01 am
(14) happypants says:

acdc, most people don’t watch soaps to be educated. They watch to be entertained and to escape, not to have the latest PC crap pushed on them. The did the same thing when they were pushing the “green” agenda and wiith Theo’s autism. Now it is the gay agenda being pushed.

November 2, 2011 at 12:00 pm
(15) Lorrie says:

Happypants, I did NOT say gays were an ethnicity. BUT MANY times people who are anti-gay are also anti-ethnic.

Sorry, I knew I should have explained myself better, as someone was bound to misunderstand me, but I was in a hurry when I posted that message.

November 2, 2011 at 12:03 pm
(16) Lorrie says:

Also, Happypants, if pushing real life storylines offends you, then don’t watch the show.

November 2, 2011 at 12:32 pm
(17) Lorrie says:

Harriet, soap operas are FULL of promiscuity–have been as long as I’ve been watching them, which is at least since the 70s. The soaps are not G-rated Hallmark TV programs.

That’s one of the main reasons many (but not all) devout religious people don’t watch them–too much screwing around! lol!

Like it or not, sex still sell, and soaps will always have (like many TV shows in general) plenty of bed-hopping.

Will Horton needs his DAD,his real DAD.

November 2, 2011 at 1:21 pm
(19) C says:

I agree with M. Quit cramming it down our throats! Just because some of the execs that run the show are queer, the majority of Days fans aren’t and don’t care to see that crap. Just another step down for the show. Wonder when they will have Bo and E.J in bed togeter. Goodbye DOOL!

November 2, 2011 at 1:58 pm
(20) days30+ says:

C. is correct in saying that what makes it to air is directly related to who’s running the show. It is likely that someone in charge is interested in pursuing gay storylines, for whatever reason. The viewing audience is varied and comes from all walks of life and we are allowed to have likes and dislikes as well. Because someone is not interested in a gay storyline, does not make them a homophobe or anti-gay. If this were a movie, then people who aren’t interested simply choose to not go to see it. But with a television show that has been part of many of our lives for 30+ years, it’s not that simple. I watch Days for entertainment, to laugh, to escape day-to-day pressures. I had hoped that they did not go forward with Will being gay. Will has a history with the long time viewers. Sonny is gay, Ross is gay, and IMHO Tony Dimera was gay and pretending not to be. Sonny’s been interesting, Ross was annoying and Tony well too bad that wasn’t really a storyline.
Either way, for those who aren’t interested, we are allowed to be.

November 2, 2011 at 2:47 pm
(21) Charlie says:

Some of these comments are hateful. C’mon folks, the idea is to open our minds to lifestyles other than our own.

Besides, Days needs new stories. This is new and fresh for a stale show. Oh wait, lets have another baby stealing story or maybe Marlene can be possessed again…

November 2, 2011 at 2:59 pm
(22) Charlie says:

Another thing, I remember watching this show back in the ’70′s with my Grandparents when David Banning was dating a black girl. I remember the negative press then. That is exactly what this thread reminds me of.

(23) Alicia says:

As a red blooded straight women, I would love to see Sonny & Will do a hot bed scene! Two hot looking guys going at it, YEAH! That would get me hot & horny!

November 2, 2011 at 4:30 pm
(24) Jimmy says:

As a 17 year old who watches Days with my Mom, I think all the women are attractive.

Now, before I get accused of being a homophobe, nothing against anyone who is gay, I have a gay Cousin who I love very much.

I just can’t understand why Will would not what to be with a great looking girl like Gabi. She is very attrative and beautiful. If Will doesn’t want Gabi, I’d be more than glad to have Gabi as my girlfriend. I would go to bed with her anytime she wanted to.

November 2, 2011 at 5:23 pm
(25) Charlie says:

Why do you need to understand it? For Days to survive, they need to tell reality based stories for the 21st century. The same old, same old will just cause Days to be cancelled.

November 2, 2011 at 6:00 pm
(26) happypants says:

Lorrie, I didn’t say real life stories are offensive. What is offensive is to have PC pushed at every opportunity and being labeled or called names for not agreeing.

November 2, 2011 at 6:12 pm
(27) Charlie says:

We all should expand our horizons before Days is a thing of the past. Good storytelling is key, not silly plots.

November 2, 2011 at 7:04 pm
(28) Lucy Van Pelt says:

I think Charlie needs to not to be so God damn sensitive!

November 2, 2011 at 9:15 pm
(29) ahl says:

I don’t like the story line at all….not because of the gay issue but because of the Will being gay issue. Why make him gay….. before sonny came to town the writers did not even give him any hints of being gay and now all of a sudden he is a totally different person with the opposite sex. why just totally change a character to make room for another cast member.

will sure didn’t seem gay when he was chasing chad’s ex….why now….to give sonny a love interest???? why not keep will straight and give sonny another love interest.

November 2, 2011 at 9:17 pm
(30) JB says:

I love the idea and they are exploring it very slowly. I find it hard to believe that people feel this is an agenda being “forced” upon them. Simply FF on the DVR if you don’t like it, that’s what I did for Quinn, Taylor, EJ, Safe, and practically the whole show for a few weeks. Frankly this storyline is probably more identifiable with a LOT of viewers than “Maggie’s stolen egg is 50-yr-old Dr Daniel” b.s.!

November 2, 2011 at 9:20 pm
(31) JB says:

@ahl – I think they’ve done a good job of Will slowly coming to terms with himself. And for the record, many, many gay teens date the opposite sex as they try to come to terms with themselves.

November 3, 2011 at 1:04 am
(32) concerened says:

Very dissapointed. I don’t enjoying watching it and won’t .
I have wonderful neighbors who are partners but I don’t have to watch what goes on in their homes and it is their choice. As it is ours not to watch this type of story line.

November 3, 2011 at 1:23 pm
(33) Charlie says:

To Lucy Van Pelt: I’m not sensitive, I want Days to survive as it has been in my family from the very beginning. My 70 year old Mother still watches it. Other “reality based” stories need to be developed and told in a new way. Nothing more is meant by my posts.

I think we all can agree that it would be nice if the show survives and thrives!

November 3, 2011 at 3:56 pm
(34) LW says:

i dont hate gays, but i don’t condone that lifestyle either. morally, i believe it’s wrong. somewhere betw2%-15% of ppl are gay. i think it’s unbelievable that DOOL’s would tap into such a liberal controversial lifestyle storyline.
personally, i wont watch gay affections. i’ve watched days for years and they show other immoral things, but they have known to spin those storylines as “wrong”. this one, they won’t, and that’s when i’ll be done watching. amazing that they will risk their show on pleasing such a small percentage of their viewers. save your comments of me being a “hater”–cuz i’m not of the ppl themselves–just of their lifestyle. i’ll say it–ITS WRONG.

Charlie, it is not homophobes who will kill Days. It is the writers who are doing that.

November 3, 2011 at 6:00 pm
(38) Susan says:

The only thing about DOOL story lines that I don’t like are how long they drag them out. John and Marlena have been back for several weeks now, and I’m already bored. I was so excited to have them back, now it’s hard for me to even tune in.

November 3, 2011 at 6:59 pm
(39) Kari says:

I applaud Days for tackling such a sensitive subject matter when Sonny annouced that he was gay it was no big deal because the others writers didn’t really explore what Justin and Adreinne went trough when they first found out so I am hoping that they will show Sami and Lucas trying to come to terms with Will’s coming out.

November 3, 2011 at 7:36 pm
(40) Charlie says:

To the Feudalist – your comment is homophobic. Shame on you.

For the record, I have a wife with 2 kids. My kids watch Days with their Grandma, just like I did. My Mom teaches tolerance to her grand kids and I am proud of her for it. I have been showing her this thread as I was taught the same lessons she is teaching my kids (she isn’t internet savvy!).

I saw this website as I broke my leg and am on disability. I watched Days a few weeks ago with my Mom and kids for the first time since 1993. It reminded me of the ’70s wth my Grandmother. Really that was the only reason I got involved in this discussion.

(41) acdc says:

Well, how about a turn of phrase here: I dislike the idea lof yet more heterosexual storylines shoved down my throat. All you mostly ever see is boy/girl. It is tired and been there done that. But, to explore all other areas of love from gay to bisexual and transgendered is fantastically fresh. Also, seeing people from mixed ethnicities falling in love is a beautiful thing. I love seeing people from all walks of life, all variances togehter and loving one another. There is something so poetically beautiful in two men kissing or two women kissing. There is an intimacy there that is so precious and special. All sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds have a place in the telling of a story and all sorts of current topics also have a place in the telling of a story. No writer could even begin to write a book without basis in what is actually going on in the real world be it past, present or future tense. That is the basics of excellent writing and what I was taught in high school in my creative writing course. My high school benefitted from being all college prepatory so we got college level in high school Even though my high school was a private catholic based school, we were taught tolerance and acceptance for all people regardless of their colour, orientation, etc. It is a principle I continue with in the total acceptance of all people. I love to see it in what I’m viewing, too. And yes, you watch the show to be entertained but, who says education cannot also be entertaining? If you have fun learning, it makes the lesson stick with you much longer. And it has to be admitted that watching a gay character come out and be counted and even fall in love is far preferable to watching innocent people die as a result of a war that should never have been. Make love, not war. Any love is good love.

November 5, 2011 at 12:01 am
(42) Days Fan says:

I can not let my 11 year old daughter watch a gay storyline.
She loves this show as do I. The show was based on love, family and god. Please dont let them show two men kissing. Please dont let it go that far. Dont the actors have any morals?

November 5, 2011 at 2:50 am
(43) Irritated says:

Seriously? You let an 11 year old watch DOOL? I think that the themes of the show are much too adult for a CHILD that young. You should be more concerned with the highly charged HETERO sex scenes than a simple gay kiss. Good grief!

November 7, 2011 at 12:12 am
(44) LW says:

charlie and acdc, i’m not a homophobe. gays dont make me nervous. i just believe IT’S WRONG morally and spiritually, not to mention physically. …actually i will appeal the argument to physically wrong. i’m 48 and over the yrs we’ve watched TV and movies change. do u remember when it was ok for ppl to smoke? it was on TV quite frequently, but Now it’s considered dangerous to our health and now a person is practically a social outcast if they want a smoke! so theyv taken it off the TV, no more cigarette commercials, and no more public smoking…yet, Now, it’s ok to subject and even TEACH our children ‘tolerance’ in a very dangerous lifestyle>>gay lifestyle. google the stats on gay men who contract and die of aids. also it’s detrimental to the health of our nation! if u want a strong nation, it starts with a strong family and strong morals. children need female and male parents as a balance. also, dont u have to wonder, if we deviate from heterosexual marriage, where will the deviating stop? some folks prefer children as sex partners and some ppl prefer sheep. is that ok and to be tolerated too? and as far as being ‘born’ gay…that’s just a bunch of bunk. no doubt, some males have some prominent female tendencies and vica-versa, but some ppl have other born-in tendencies that are NOT acceptable, too. like anger, murderous hearts, heck, u name it—we’re just all sinful. but that doesnt mean that we should tolerate it! in fact, i wont. i like gay ppl, but i’ll fight their lifestyle til the day i die becuz IT’S WRONG. and our moral compass is the bible and GOD SAYS IT’S WRONG, so i’ll always stand with God. not with a bunch of crazy, messed-up writers who want to spin sin as something we should all love and accept.

November 7, 2011 at 7:53 am
(45) acdc says:

@LW–Your views on AIDS and gay men are so off the mark. It is mostly heterosexual women who contract AIDS. And when they show gay sex or love making on TV, they are not telling you to run out and have sex. It is assumed that they will wear condoms. So often, a fair amount of people choose to remain totally in the dark about AIDS. I ask that you contact your local gay friendly PFLAG or LGBT Centre for more accurate information on AIDS before you assume that Gay men are the main culprits and you will find yourself very suprised. If you ever watch TV in depth, you will see that men in Europe and women have always kissed one another as a sign of friendship. I am in the UK where the entire country allows gay marriage and recognises same sex partnerships. Funny for a country supposedly thought so austere and behind the times. Yet, most of America is still living in the dark ages. And in the bible, MEN say it is wrong. God is all about love and He made people both heterosexual and gay to teach tolerance just as He made people of all colours, too. Gay people have morals, too and teach their children right from wrong and give them excellent values. A parent is a parent no matter what sex and theire is plenty of balance. A parent is simply a guidepost, a loving caring person to raise up a child. The sex of the parent does not matter. It is ignorance like yours that is truly harmful and the kind that teaches children to eventually deal with those who are different than them with violence. Your ilk breeds hate and bullying. Why don’t you spend your time in learning love and not propagating hate. Also, if you are 100% sin free, then go ahead and throw stones. But, if not, then kindly shut up, live and let others live their lives. For the record, I am married to a man but I identify as Bisexual and was with a woman for 12 years. It’s who you love. It is little to do with sex and all to do with love.

November 7, 2011 at 2:49 pm
(46) Demetria says:

Why is this STILL a controversial story line? It is life. Those that can’t deal with it, don’t watch. It is about time people faced reality.

I am not liking the “new” writers. That dragged out Bo and Hope thing was ridiculous considering hwo much bed time Bo had with Carly. The Jen/Jack/Daniel is stupid. No man would put up with that. Daniel’s passion for Chloe left, he abandoned her when she was mentally ill. Who needs Dr. Pretty anyway. Jack seems to be the real hero, took a lot of heat in Afghanistan. NOW THAT is a story line.

I wish Nicole and EJ would hurry up and get it on.

November 7, 2011 at 2:56 pm
(47) Mary says:

Days fan #42: You let your little daughter watch all the wife swapping, the prostitute story lines, the cheating and you won’t let her watch a gay story line? Time for you to open your mind. Wow, the hate I see here. No wonder this country is so screwed up. Oh, and the person that said “I admire the gay actors…” and listed them. Gee. that is sort of like Donald Trump with his “The Blacks are some of my friends too.” Please. I guess you would have gone to see Sammy Davis, Jr, enjoyed his show, but wouldn’t want to live next to me. Me, I would LOVE to have lived next to him, it would mean I was as successful as he was! Hate, hate, and more hate. Wow.

November 7, 2011 at 3:05 pm
(48) LORI says:

I have no problem with the story line and when they talked about it months ago I was fine then I just wanted it to not be Will because I thought the story with him and Gabi was going to be good, a couple taking things slow for once, now they have them practically estranged from each other and Gabi is going to get her heart broken and I hate that.

I was hoping a new character would be brought in for this story line or that it would be Chad so Stefano had to deal with it too.

But if the writers are going through with this they need to bring Lucas back. Will is going to need his dad to support him as he deals with people in Salem like people in this forum who are going to have a hard time with this relevant issue. This is no time for Lucas to be handling things by phone from Japan.

Writers if you are taking on this issue, handle it correctly, not all people are going to be as accepting of this as you portrayed when Sonny came to town. You need to show how people cope with close minded people on a daily basis. It is a huge step even in 2011 to come out to their friends and family, it is not all roses and everyone involved does not accept it overnight so don’t just rush through the story without a lot of thoughtful dialogue for all the actors. Justin and Adrienne learned about Sonny off camera, if you are going to feature it, do it right and maybe even some of the people with stupid comments above will understand.

(49) Tee says:

I started watching Day’s back in summer of 68′ and I was in 7th grade going into 8th grade. Days back then was my favorite. But now I can’t stand the fact the EJ and Stefano never paid for one of their crimes. Most of Bo & Hope stories are boring. John & Marlena storyline is terrible. Maggie being Daniel’s mother is hard to believe. Now Will is going to be gay. I for one really don’t want watching it on TV. I fast forward most of Day’s now. Pretty soon there won’t be much to watch.
Day’s was my favorite soap at one time. Now it really have a hard time even watching half of it. Why do we have to watch same sex on tv. I don’t care what they do behind closed doors I just don’t want to watch it on tv.

November 7, 2011 at 3:18 pm
(50) Susan says:

Just another reason to stop watching Days.

November 7, 2011 at 3:48 pm
(51) Dennis says:

This is a great venue to tell this story. It is a main character coming to terms with himself. It will be good to see how the other characters react. I hope the writers treat this with the sensitivity and respect it deserves.

November 7, 2011 at 4:13 pm
(52) Rcc says:

It is not ignorant to have ur own opinion about a subject or a lifestyle choice on or off a show. We have a right to be for or against anything. I jave been watching dool since jr high in the 70′ s and now it is time to take that break I jave been needing. Thanks for giving me a reason not to watch.

November 7, 2011 at 4:23 pm
(53) Eric says:

What is wrong with you people!!!! why shouldn’t there be gay storylines in soaps. There have been some great shows with gay characters. Why Can’t the writers use some of the real life issues in this world like Will coming out of the Closet. Let this be a help for real life parents dealing with their kids coming out how to deal with it. Hopefully Will will talk to Marlena about his feeling if not his own parents.

Shame on those who said there going to stop watching because of the gay storyline. Gays/Lesbians/Transgender may not be on every show but there everywhere and their here to stay.

November 7, 2011 at 4:47 pm
(54) peg says:

I have many friends that are gay and the gay story line is one thing, But the thought of seeing 2 guys or 2 gals making out or in bed together is really something I would NOT like to watch. I really hope dool doesn’t go that far. As long as it doesn’t get to envolved and I can ff I will keep watching But the minute it becomes to envolved thats when I will stop watching dool. I started watching this show when it was a 30 minute show. It would a shame to stop watching after all those years.

oh yes, and let’s not forget Adriana would give Marlena and Roman their first great-grandchild if Will had stayed straight, not to mention Caroline becoming a great-great “gran”! That would never do! lol

(58) Seth says:

Glad to see that hatred, ignorance and bigotry are alive and well. You can dress up your small-minded discrimination up any way you want but it still leaves you as a small, pathetic hatemonger. Good luck with that for your days are numbered. Cheers to Day on the decision to join the 21st century.

I CAN’T BELIEVE WHAT IS GOING ON WITH DAYS, THAT IS SO NOT RIGHT, SO WHO ELSE NEEDS TO FIND THEM SELFS? IF GOD WANTED IT TO BE TWO MEN, HE WOULD OF CREATED ADAM AND STEVE, THIS IS UNNATURAL EFFECTIONS, IT IS SICK!!!!!! I KNOW IT IS ONLY A SHOW, BUT DAYS IS SUCH AN OLD SOAP, I JUST LIKED THE WAY IT WAS!

(60) acdc says:

You know, Days is not the first daytime drama to introduce an openly gay character. All My Children has that honour and they did it quite some time back with a lesbian storyline. I was impressed as hell then and impressed with this now. How on God’s green earth can anyone fault this is beyond me. If any of you watch Ellen and like her, you can just as easily watch Days and like Will and Sonny. When it all comes down to it, we are all human beings. So many choose to live in ignorance and hate rather than walking in someone else’s shoes and seeing things from their perspective.

Question: Would those of you against this storyline be this hateful, cruel, bullying and prejudicial if it were your child coming out as gay?

(61) acdc says:

Another point I wanted to broach is the bible. Those of you who said the bible says it is wrong in particular. The bible was written by men. It was not written by Jesus Himself nor God. It is an historical account of what happened prior to Christ being born and up through His death and ultimate ascention into Heaven. It was written by men, mortals, sinners who chose to decide what morals everyone should have. The only exception are the words given to them by God and Jesus who merely said, “Love one another as I have loved you.” This excludes no one. They never said “one another except…….” They said “one another”. God and Jesus are only about love, love to all. God made each of us unique and special and with our DNA to include heterosexual, bisexual, lesbian and gay. He is also aware of DNA having its own free will and some were born(ie. Chaz Bono) in the wrong outer structure for their inner makeup. God also made the animal kingdom the same way. There are animals who mate with their opposite sex, same sex and some with both sexes. We can learn much in the way of tolerance from them. You don’t ever catch a dog saying they hate you because you are gay, bisexual or transgendered. No animal will ever hate , show ignorance or be prejudiced of anyone. All they are about is love, food and sleep. If only the human populous could be as simple, as eloquent.

And by the way, most gay people get here because of heterosexuals. They don’t make themselves honey! (Snaps fingers in a Z formation)!

P.S. Those of you who are gay haters, step aside and those of you awho are heterosexcual haters, how do you think your gay ass got here!

Can I get an Amen up in here?!
Eveyrbody say LOVE!

This has nothing to do with race. Portraying a young gay person on DOOL is just out and out wrong. I’m with the others that have been proud of our soap for not getting involved in a story line that is un-Christian. And yes, a lot of the other story lines are not Christ-like either, but this beats them all. No wonder a lot of the soaps are leaving the air…is DOOL next?

(65) Larry says:

I don’t like Hollywood championing any social or cultural issue because they give it an exploitative spin, and the gay issue is one that they are really bad at presenting realistically and respectfully. I’m fully tolerant of gays and have compassion for the persecution they endure, but I don’t like Hollywood horning in on this issue, at least not until Hollywood can gain more maturity in presenting the issue.

(66) acdc says:

@Larry–Two shows differ vastly from your point of view. Those are Queer As Folk and The L Word. Both shows explored every aspect of gay, lesbian, bi and transgendered life. Both were acted impecably. The writing was superb. I hope Days can come close to that level of excellent writing in the story of Will and Sonny. I also hope Days introduces us to lesbian characters, bisexual and transgendered ones. I’d love to see more ethnicity on the show as well. I’d love to see an African American get together with a different ethnicity. I love seeing all walks of life in my tv and film viewing.

And to all you Gay bashers—Homosexuality is a part of life. It always has been and always will be. Also, the homosexual population is much more than 10% anymore and their demographic is amongst the highest earners and contributors to the economy. There is a huge buying power there which keeps people employed and keeps businesses thriving. There are also far more gay couples staying together for life, raising beautiful well mannered wonderful children with a rich set of morals and values(just because you are raised by two men or two women does not at all mean you will be gay, too). Most often both people work, too. Yes, there are some pretty flamboyant gay folks but, there are also some pretty flamboyant heterosexual folks, too.

Stop spending so much time hating and choosing ignorance over understanding.

And, if you don’t like what you are seeing, instead of spreading your disease of hatred do this:

CHANGE THE DAMN CHANNEL!

From now on I will tape the show and when Will is on, I will fast forward through his episodes. I have learned to do that with a lot of shows lately since all these writers think the world is made up of people who don’t realize God made man and woman to live as two separate sexes. It makes me sick, that people who are afraid of the opposite sex decides they are gay and that gives them the easy way out of saying they are gay.

I know there are gay people around but why push it on everyone? I’m a Christian and I don’t see Christian storylines on Days like you are pushing gay people.
I have enjoyed Days for 40 years but this is a little too much.
I tape Days so I guess I can just fast forward thru th parts with Will in it. Don’t you think we see this too much in everyday life?
Very, Very disappointed Fav

(70) Layla says:

I don’t think the gay story line is offensive. Just boring. Its been done elsewhere. For a soap opera trying to revamp itself with going back to its roots of romance and entertaining storylines, I find this strategy to be a mistake. The majority of DOOL viewers are straight. Homosexual storylines are geared toward a minority of the soap fans. The majority of us will be fast forwarding. Sad. And I’m already fast-forwarding through so much already.

(71) haygirl says:

Am so disappointed in Days. I watched Days because it seemed to have a higher standard than others. Seemed to have a real high regard for families and God. Now they are just playing “follow the leader” by making Will gay.

Those of you who think there is no accountability for your actions are just fooling yourselves. This world and you are not here by accident, and you didn’t evolve from a monkey. There is a God and there is responsibility for actions. Homosexuality is wrong in the eyes of God. Why do you think He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah? Making it popular does not make it right. Goodbye Days…

I have watched Days for 42 years, and I also have a lot of gay friends. With that said I do not like Will being gay, I wish they had chosen a different charter for this. I hope the powers that be will change their minds. They could make this new college charter the gay person.

(74) Farah says:

Well first my view has nothing to do with prejudice, I am not.. But I do not like how they have turned Wills character. He has been a character that has been with us for years, we have watched him grow, it is not his makeup..I like Will and Gabi.. I thought they were building the next generation of super “Shawn/ Belle” “Bo /Hope”
I do like Sonny’s character… I would like to see the storyline played out. It is a very relavent thing that youth are having to deal with. In my own town a teen dealing with all the stresses and turmoil and closed little minded people put him through, he hung himself. So wake up world our kids need to see a true portrayal…Maybe save a life.
I would like to have seen it be T… It would have added a huge dynamic, jock, family hating himself being such a hater because he himself is gay….

(77) DLBP says:

I find it all so frustrating to read so many comments from people that say they have been a fan of the show for how ever many years, BUT they FF through this and that.
If you are a true FAN of the show you might show some tolerance and understanding and not be so negative about what will and won’t be happening on the show. It hasn’t even aired yet and already so many of you are doing nothing but bashing the show and the impending storyline.
I have been watching DOOL for 40+ years and you learn to take the good with the bad. There have been many story lines over the years that I have found boring or annoying, but I know that others may find it interesting and realize that I am NOT the only person watching the show.

Why not wait until it happens before you go on a rant about how immoral things are or before you know what will actually happen. For all you know they may just show that there is a homosexual attraction, they may not actually display anything that you find offensive.

Stop putting the cart before the horse and act like adults rather than a bunch of children throwing a temper tantrum because you can’t get what you want.

November 9, 2011 at 3:45 pm
(78) acdc says:

Will being gay is just one storyline to many others where gay is not mentioned. A lot of gay people have had hetero relationships go awry. Gabi is not the first nor the last. At least Will is not married with children and then his homosexuality comes out. He is single, certainly never committed to going steady with Gabi and there are no rings on fingers or Churches booked for weddings there. Will is simply coming into his own true self. It is difficult enough growing up, going to school and all the other pressures from peers and parents and then Will is dealing with his sexuality, too. This has the potential for being a very emotionally turbulent storyline repleat with twists, turns and complexities that will make for possible Daytime Emmy winning drama.

Oh, and there are far more gay people watching Days than some of you think. When I was hanging out at gay clubs, a ton of the guys and gals were hooked on Days and other soaps. C’mon….hunky hot men and sexy desirable women! Plus all the fashion, campy drama and stage sets! I am proudly bisexual! I love gay clubs and the entire GLBT community, will support them and stand up for them all the time!

I am Bisexual and would just like to say that as much as I would like to say something about all the anti-gay comments here, I won’t, because I know it won’t change anything. You have chosen to believe that your hate is just or that it’s not hate at all, and I will not try to change your mind, however, please keep it to yourself. I only ask that you think I about how people like me feel when we read things like that. I became so depressed scrolling through the comments I briefly entertained the thought of suicide, I thought something along the lines of, “If these are the kind of view points that will follow me all my life, what is the point of living that life,” and many before me have thought the same thing and died as a result, just because you can not feel our pain does not mean you should cause it.

I have just read alot of the previous comments and i laugh. I want to say this i respect everyone’s opinion aven though i dont agree. Everyone has a right to there opinion that is what America was founded on. There is one comment that stuck out. Someone said that being gay is unnatural and that if god wanted gays he would have made adam and steve. Well I will say this to you. It is a show. Almost every show is against the bible, so i dont know why you watch it anyway. Also someone said the gay agenda is being pushed down your throat. Well first of all what the hell is a gay agenda. Its a group of people that want the same rights as evryone else. How is that wrong? The blacks wanted it and got it should that have been stopped? Now to those of you who say i have gay friends or someone in my family is gay and then saying something totally bashing. Thats like saying no offense but and the saying something very offensive.

I will leave you all with this. For those of you that believe in jesus remember who he hung out with.
For the others who dont like the gay story line its called buy a dvr and fast forward, not really a big deal. Just like any other story lines that you dont like. I really dont see why people are making such a big deal about this but whatever. Like i said you have your opinion. But remember this everyone has an ass doesnt mean everyone needs to see it. I really hope some of you grow up

(90) Dannette says:

I’ve been a Days fan for at least 25 years, and I am looking forward to this new plot-line. Massey is an exceptionally good young actor who deserves the spotlight and challenging material to work on. I’ve always been really impressed with him, and I look forward to what he will bring to this storyline.

Also, the first gay storyline in 40 years does NOT constitute “cramming” down your throats. That characterization is paranoid and irrational. Likewise, this idea that there is suddenly a “gay agenda” because of someone pushing it at the show. Jeez, have you folks heard of Hollywood? You think, all of a sudden, there’s the first gay person in a powerful role behind the scenese? Come on. More irrational paranoia. That’s why people are calling you homophobes. I also don’t get this nonsense about some kind of “moral standard”. Sami just had an affair out of marriage in which she slept with a mafioso killer who just recently put a low-life criminal in her bed without her knowledge. We see some of the lowest of the low regularly, but, a gay theme crosses the line? If you’re all so offended by sin, then for christ’s sake, you shouldn’t be watching Days.

I’m a red-blooded, hetero-sexual woman with a son of my own. What Will’s character is going through is a real-life situation for many people. If Days can bring some good writing and authentic complexity to this story, then it will be interesting.

Finally, that so-called rehabilitated pimp character and this disgusting turn with Sami and EJ sleeping together is very offensive. I can’t believe folks would get up-in-arms about two measly gay characters but not bat an eye at that misogynist crap. Because, what? It’s unrealistic and problematic for there to be 2 gay people in all of Salem, but women embrace rehabilitated pimps all the time! And sleep with the men who tricked them into bringing predators into their homes and beds! Yeah, that ALWAYS happens.

(91) Naf says:

I’m both inspired and disturbed by the comments responding to this story. Whether or not you “agree” with homosexuality or want to see it on television, it’s very important that shows like DAYS include gay content. There are gay, lesbian, bi and transgendered kids growing up and it’s essential that they have a variety of characters and narratives so they can see their own story reflected –so they can know they’re not alone, that there are others like them, that there is hope for their lives and that what is happening to them is human. None of us has a right to deny that to anyone. Seeing a young, smart, vibrant, attractive character like Will –a character whose familiy we know, he’s a Horton after all!– might give hope to someone. That’s what stories are for.

I KNEW IT! I had my suspicions about Will being gay and I found my answer on this page….just things he has said in the past made me suspicious and especially since he’s been pulling away from Gaby…she’s, like, the perfect woman for him…….Wow! that’s gonna be some storyline….can’t wait to see how it all plays out.

(93) Crystal says:

I knew it! Just as I thought, Will is gay. I suspected it for a long time now. Today`s episode really made me sad seeing him break down like that when Gabby broke up with him. His confusion of his own sexuality is the reason why he acted like that, and it was sad. :( Anyway, I don`t care much for the gay story lines either, but its not going to make me stop watching Days since I`m such a huge fan!

(94) Disgusted says:

This storyline will end my years of watching Days. It’s not ignorance, it’s just not what I believe to be right. Anyone of you would stand up for what you believe is right, so therefore so will I. I’m sick and tired of people yelling prejudice in one breath and then turning around and condemning people for a belief that they have. Isn’t that the same thing? This storyline is the final straw for me on a long coming decision.

(95) Denise says:

Every scientific study including a recent study paid for by our government shows the population of gays in the U.S. is always a steady 1 to 2 percent. I don’t get why DOOL would put on a story line that 99% of their viewers can’t identify with!

December 4, 2011 at 9:33 pm
(96) Jenna says:

Wow! I am surprised that people would think having two gay actors on a soap would consider that as having homosexuality crammed down their throats. I am a heterosexual with some gay friends and family and I believe that these coming of age stories where young people have to come to terms with their identities can help individuals who are truly in that situation relate and perhaps move forward in their own lives. Offering moving and realistic material is what daytime drama is meant to be, at it’s core, and I applaud the show for attempting to incorporate it into their stories. I think it’s sad that the world is still uncomfortable with storylines that touch on topics that expose the human condition in a way other than what the majority of us have experienced. I would like to invite people to open their minds and forego passing judgement against others. Perhaps these storylines can actually enlighten some of us as to what it must feel like to be gay in a world where it still often isn’t considered acceptable….Bravo to Days…at least you’re opening up a dialogue about homosexuality and if this storyline is done well, perhaps it will shed some light on the emotional process related to how difficult it may be in this world to either be homosexual, or be someone who cares about someone who is homosexual and have to come to terms with it.

(98) David says:

WOW! How many hateful comments can there even be!? I have enjoyed watching DoOL for years now (I’m an 18 yo gay man), and have seen so much worse things on this show! Like a murderer, adultery, kidnapping, raping, violence, etc etc… When will you people realize that love is love? The most beautiful thing in the world, and everyone deserves it, no matter sexual orientation? And it does deserve just as much air-time as anything else? If you don’t like it, you seriously should just lie down to die, because in ten years time it will be okay everywhere in the western world! Not to sound racist, but if you are that conservative, you should move to the east, where it is still illegal, and you could live your life and see others live their lives according to laws on right and wrong with practically no freedom, because love is love, no matter what the sexes are, and if you don’t like it, look away! (99) tona says:

I am baffled by all these comments about a gay story line being offensive. Does the fact that there are gay people in the world offend you as well, and if your answer is yes then YES YOU ARE A HOMOPHOBE. A person following their TRUE self is brave and inspiring not, offensive and disgusting. Give me a break. Can’t you imagine for one second what it would be like to feel you need to hide such a large portion of yourself….and people like the ones leaving these hateful comments just make it worse. And to compare being gay to being rapped and forced prostitution is ridiculous. You hear a new story all the time about some poor kid who is confused, scared, or bullied, and the end results are sometimes permanent. If you have that much of a problem with it stop watching the show, don’t write hateful things.

(100) Days Fan says:

It is stupid for Days writers to as some of you said “pick anybody but Will” Why should they in real life you can’t pick and choose who you know with a gay son! This is life and I think that Will is a great pick! I have watched this show since I was very young as it was always on and am now 38 with gay and lesbian friends and family. The fact that Days writers are trying to pick a story line that is more like real life is great and it is about time! You cannot pick and choose in your life who is or is not gay or a lesbian etc. You can choose to walk out of there life but I am sure if you are a real Christian you will live by not being judgmental! Is that not in the Bible? It is not up to you to judge! It is up to him and as far as I remember he is a loving and forgiving god so let’s hope he forgives you for all your judging of the people that do not live up to your standards gay or straight! Remember when everyone was upset about Sami and her teen pregnancy this is what life is so get over it! It is not being rammed down your throat! This is controversy it makes you uncomfortable and makes you think past your little bubble and they should tap into it! Real life does not have us living on an island when everyone thinks we are dead and we can come back and how many times have you met someone possessed! Good on the people who are writing this and I hope they can bring light to this subject to help the narrow-minded people of this world! Teens and adults die every day because of inner conflict and bulling about this topic and maybe just maybe this will help someone out there dealing with this subject in their lives! I know that nothing changed for me when I found out my cousin was gay but it was very sad to see many turn their back on him and he did not deserve it! Would you turn your back on your child, grandchild or niece or nephew etc ? I would hope not! Shame on the narrow-minded!

(102) Mouse says:

They should have brough in another gay character and left Will with GABI…!!! Basically the writers are saying, if you think you are a gay man it is ok to pretend to be straight and experiment with an innocent girl and take away her virginity and then decide to be gay…!!! GARBAGE…!!! GARBAGE…!!! THis is why are society is a mess..

Also, all these characters are rich and no “REAL” story line of working and not being able to pay bills and economic struggles….REALITY…Give us the truth..!!!

Marlena and John are now making me sick, that annoying squint of John…!!! I am completely annoyed, my sisters, sister in laws and mom are in agreement, we are moving on…Adios DOOL……!!!

Great story. The world is full of gay people. You are who you are…it isn’t a lifestyle choice. But for those of you who are appalled and won’t allow your children to watch the show, I have a question…. Was it okay for a child to watch DOOL when Chloe was a prostitute?

Please do not show any gay scenes on days of our lIVES WITH wILL. This is sin and should not be tolerated on a good show like Days. This will destroy the show. Will or stop watching the show altogether.
This world is getting horrible and we don’t have to watch this mess on TV.

(106) Greg says:

I can’t believe people are upset about a gay storyline in a soap. Too bad if you feel like it’s being shoved down your throats, I have to deal with heterosexuals shoving their agenda down my throat every day. I hear stuff, like they should just be quiet and not flaunt their lifestyle. Number one, it’s not a lifestyle, but an orientation. We don’t choose to be gay, it’s just a part of us like having blue eyes. Straight people flaunt their orientation all the time. Every time you talk about your husband or wife, boyfriend or girlfriend, you’re flaunting your orientation. I don’t belief homosexuality is a sin and I’m not going to debate that with anyone here. If you actually read the old testament in hebrew and the new text in greek (the languages they are written in) you might think differently. Also you have to put things in proper context. Now everyone who is up in arms and believes it’s a sin, daytime shows, have adultery, liars, murderers, etc., I guess those sins are ok. Apparently you have an agenda, you are fine with adultery and murders, but not with two people of the same sex having a loving committed relationship. I’ve been with my husband over 11 years and our marriage is so much stronger than some of our straight friends. Don’t even get me started on marriage, how we could mess it up any worse than heterosexuals is beyond me. 50% of marriages end up in divorce, and straight people like Kim Kardashian just reinforces how much the heterosexuals take marriage for granted. It’s almost 2012, the U.S., needs pull their heads out of their butts and accept people. I applaud DOOL for putting this storyline on. If Will helps one gay teenager see that there is nothing wrong with them, then the show is a success. The reason there is such a large number of gay teens committing suicide is from the attitudes that we see right here.

(107) Greg says:

To Mouse: Lots of gays and lesbians experiment with the opposite sex. I know a lot of people that got married. They got married because people said, “All you need to straighten up is to meet some one of the opposite sex who is good to you.” That doesn’t work, but because society pushes so hard like anyone else they want to be accepted by their peers. If you’re homosexual, it doesn’t mean you can’t perform with the opposite sex, it just doesn’t feel natural to you. For me, the fireworks everyone talked about just never happened with a girl, but I’ll never forget the first time I kissed a guy. The fireworks in my head were like the 4th of July. So it’s not weird for the storyline to have someone who slept with the opposite sex be gay. A persons sexuality is just a part of who they are, sleeping with the opposite sex or trying to pray away the gay, just doesn’t work.

(109) Jason says:

Homophobia-irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals. That’s the definition in Merriam-Webster. I am so sick of hearing people say, “I don’t want to see it” (aversion), “Why do they have to cram it down my throat?” (aversion again), then say “but don’t call me homophobic, because I’m not!” Really? You obviously have an aversion or irrational fear towards a story line that will be reflective of a facet of our society. You don’t want it on there but don’t think that’s discrimination. Do you know what discrimination means? It means to make choices of right/wrong….what you like/don’t like. You don’t like homosexual story lines in soaps, but want to pretend like you aren’t homophobic so you don’t feel bad about the fact that you don’t like something. In other words you are a coward to your feelings. Feelings which I think are unwarranted and are, in fact, homophobic.
And just to be clear, for the last 50 years or so we have had heterosexual love/infidelity, etc forced down our throats at every corner as well. Telling a story of life in a small community is going to be reflective of all types of people….gays and lesbians included. So either get over it, or get rich, buy an island and live there by your lonesome with your hate. Life’s too short otherwise because good people and good stories come in all shapes, sizes, color, ethnicity, and sexual orientation.

(111) SS says:

To the people talking as if Days of Our Lives has stood by morals, please look up the meaning of morals. Where are the morals in the DiMera’s and Kirakisis’s(sp?)’ actions? They do so many bad things, yet you still watch it. Heck, even the good old Brady and Horton bunch have their flaws in immorality. Cheating, murder, cover-ups, going out of the law to protect family and friends. Talk about their morals and why you watch the show. If you want to watch a show with only good morals then create one. Write a book and read it if you don’t have the resources!

Also to the comments about this show needing to stay in the Christian direction keep in mind that your religion isn’t the only one. I personally don’t follow religious beliefs. I respect those that have them, but those that have them should respect other’s beliefs. If I’m not mistaken when it comes to religion aren’t the majority of the characters Catholic? Maybe it’s time to freshen things up. Bring in some Jewish, Muslim, Mormons, Atheist, Agnostic, etc people! If you want to watch a Christian-only show (or of your specific religion whatever it maybe) then turn to a Christian channel. The show isn’t built on solely Christian values.

(112) SS says:

To the people fast forwarding most of the scenes. What has you still watching if you can’t even just sit through watching something, even if you don’t agree with it? Do you only watch happy family times. If so you are watching the wrong show. This is a SOAP opera. Soap opera’s are DRAMATIZED shows with some real issues in life.

To the Christians talking about it’s a sin and it trumps all other sins and spreading your hatred re-read your bible instead of watching this show full of characters that sin and do wrong. Oh right you get some of that in your bible too don’t you?

December 9, 2011 at 9:22 pm
(113) SS says:

To the people complaining about Will being homosexual realize some things. Although Will has been on the show since his conception, he hasn’t really been much of a character to focus on. When he was a kid it was always just him stuck in the side of his parent’s drama. His sexuality was never explored until recently. It wasn’t long ago that he lost his virginity. Never in his early-mid teen years have they had him with girls. Even if they had done that the reality is homosexuality isn’t something that is easily accepted even in the homosexual themselves at first. Some people have debate over whether someone was born that way, chose, or whatever. Me being someone who struggled with my sexuality I can honestly say that when I was younger I wasn’t thinking about sex and when I did start thinking guys didn’t cross my mind in that way at the time. The fact that Will hasn’t had much mention of girls doesn’t make his sudden switch. I’m surprised you guys are okay with him dating his step-sister. Isn’t that where most people throw their judgement against morality?

To the people complaining about how Gabby feels.. Um, she recently dumped him. Of course it was bound to happen with this shape into his opening character, but she too will likely be going through a change. She seems like this sweet well child, but with the experiences she has had, the family she had, and her being the youngest I have a feeling she’s going to be falling into how Abby and Stephanie went. (Mostly for the bad guy or other girls boyfriends) Hell, she’s already eyeballing Chad (Abby’s bf) and soon Chad and Melanie will get together, but she’ll be just another homewrecker like Chloe and Stephanie.

To the people saying just because there are now gay characters means it’s a gay writer spreading the ‘gay agenda’, does that mean there are murderous writers, cheating writers, etc spreading their agendas?

December 12, 2011 at 2:22 am
(114) Theresa says:

Personally, I miss the “Days” gone by, times when real issues were presented and the solutions stayed within the boundries of morality. The storylines that are beginning to be developed on this show are less than wholesome. You have the EJ – Sami storyline, the Abigail/Austin storyline, the homosexual storyline…Wonder why we have such a messed up society, it’s because the disordered is glorified and made acceptable.

As for those of us who think these types of behavior are no one’s business but that of those who choose to walk that path, you are right, the choice is theirs. BUT do not accuse those of us who don’t agree with their choice, of being bigotted or narrow minded. We have the same rights that they do and just as they do not agree with our moral code, we don’t agree with their idea of what is right and acceptable behavior.

As for those of us who do not agree with these behaviors that we consider to be immoral, time to find a new show to watch! I would challenge the writers to have 2 versions of this soap. One based on traditional morals and principles and the 2nd version being the show they are presenting viewers with today-both with the same characters (and by the way, Christians are not the only religious group who find these behaviors unacceptable. So do many of the other major religions, in their OFFICIAL stands, object to these behaviors.). You can present the issues that face society today and have the 1st version present a solution based on the traditional moral code and the 2nd version would “resolve” the issues by making the behaviors acceptable like they are doing today on the show. Let’s see which show does better in the ratings and has a more postive impact on its viewers and on society as a whole.

Ken Corday, as well as the writers and producers of Days need to REPENT and come to Christ before they BURN in Hell!!! This storyline just shows that Days is giving in to the Gay Agenda!!! I don’t know if I’ll watch or not since Days is such a big part of my life! I’ll prob fast forward. Guiding Light was on TV and Radio for 75 years and As The World Turns was on since 55 and Days will follow them off the air. This storyline is a disgrace to the memory of MacDonald Carey and Francis Reid!!! And I can only hope that none of ur children turn out gay or lesbian because they would be a shame to you and ur family. If you don’t like the story line do us all a favor and don’t watch it or leave comments on here. I’m 30 and I’m proud to say i’m bisexual. I was with the most amazing woman for 9 yrs and I got treated better than any man ever treated me. Although we are no longer together and I am with a man now, her and I are the most amazing friends and I will love her forever.

(121) Days Fan says:

@ Theresa – You people are narrow minded bigots. I don’t need to meet you or some of the other people on here to know that. I am no less of a person because I am bisexual and lived with a woman for 9 yrs. I helped raise my exes daughter as she were my own. I loved this child with my whole heart and soul and would take a bullet for her. I loved her as much as any straight woman could love a child, if not more. She brought kids home from school and would introduce me as her 2nd mother and her friends would call me mom. Her mother, my ex, raised her daughter to love everybody no matter their race, color, creed, sex, or sexual orientation. That is the values and morals a child should be raised with but so many parents lack those themselves. People like you need to be locked in a room full of gays and lesbians, I guarantee you, you will walk out of that room a changed person. And when I say changed person, I am not talking about you walking out gay. I’m talking about you walking out of that room with a new knowledge of this type of lifestyle. I might be bi, but I beleive in GOD, I accepted GOD into my heart on Dec. 9, 1990, one day before my 9th birthday. I bleed red blood like you, I cry real tears like you, and I have feeling in my heart just like you. We really ain’t no different. I also agree that you have the right to ur opinion and there isn’t anything wrong with that. Its when you become so closeminded that I get mad. I used to be that closeminded person until the day I met my ex and my life changed. My ex-girlfriend saved my life and helped me get off drugs. The family life and having a “step-daughter” was the best thing to ever happen to me.

And let people keep their own business to themselves. There are alot more important situations in this world than worrying whether Will is going to come out on Days or not. If he does -he does. let’s worry about all the pedophiles and parents murdering their young Children for no apparent reason. (124) Tm says:

The people coming down on others for their opinion against this storyline are too accepting and a problem in society. I applaud those that are willing to say they believe homosexuality is immoral and wrong. Being gay is a choice, no one is born that way, and they are not born transgendered or any other way other than a male or female. It is a sin, and it is Satan’s work. They may feel they have no choice, but is the work of the devil. I don’t hate or discriminate against any human being, but I believe if we keep openly portraying this as ok, it only gives the devil more and more opportunity to turn others away from god further deteriorating our societies and the world as a whole.

(125) Angel says:

“1. “I am the Lord your God; You shall have no other gods before Me.”

There are people who are not Christian on the show, and therefore, according to Christianity “Worship False Gods.”

“2. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image…”

Ok, I’m not quite sure they’ve done THIS on the show.

“3. “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.”

People say “Oh My God” on Days of Our Lives all the time.

“4. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”

Nope! They work on Sunday on that show all the time. No special recognition is given to the Sabbath.

“5. “Honor your father and your mother.”

Strained family parent/child relationships are a keystone of the show. Whether the child is at fault or the parent, issues and conflicts with parents are rampant on Days.

“6. “You shall not murder.”

This happens all the time on the show.

“7. “You shall not commit adultery.”

See Number 6

“8. “You shall not steal.”

Again, theft is a key element of a large number of the plots.

“9. “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.”

This is another one that happens quite a bit.

“10. “You shall not covet…”

Ok this is a huge one. MOST the characters covet. They want someone else’s money/power/child/spouse. One would think the writers thought that human beings were motivated by little else BUT coveting most of the time on the show.

Let’s also not forget that the show also has included lying, kidnapping, rape, participation in pornography, participation in prostitution and so on and so forth.

So, let me get this straight.

Will being in defiance of an obscure Leviticus law is the part of the show you decide to take issue with?

Really?

Can we step back and ask if this really makes a lot of sense?

Saying you’re getting gay lifestyles shoved down your throats (I find it strange that so many of you use that metaphor). Do you hear gay people complaining about heterosexuality when two straight people kiss on TV!? Good riddance! (PS You know you’ll keep watching. You can’t resist. You’ll keep watching and then go to your churches and listen to your Pastor condemn such worldly sins as watching these satanic soaps and you’ll yell “Amen” and just go right back to your watching habits.) Tell me… what does God say about these people? Where in the Bible does God give instructions as to what to do to change these people to male or female, (which you say God wanted to begin with)? Did one of his angels fall asleep on the baby assembly line and miss pressing the male or female button before the baby was born? Now, don’t let the DEVIL deceive you! Be sure you know GOD’s answer!

To all of you that say you don’t like how this story is un-Christian like…. please don’t tell me you consider the other story lines anything close to a perfect Christian story. It never ceases to amaze me how ignorant, unaccepting, and unloving people can be to each other. And as far as the bible goes, it was written by men and it was decided by men what went in the bible. What about all the other things that transpired? What about all the missing books and historical information that was kept out of the book by high powered and high ranked officials? Also, who in the hell thinks they can get the exact meaning out of something that is incomplete, has been translated numerous times, and created by mortal!!

I have watched DOOL for almost 25 years now. I am glad the writers are sticking to what they have done for years….. Writing about things that are really going on in the real world. I will continue to watch DOOL, because I am a fan of the show who is an open-minded, all-loving, and un-judgemental human…. I wish I could say there were more people like me in the world today.

I can’t believe some of the comments here. I never thought a day time soap was regarded with such high standards and morals. Its entertainment, if the writers want to show a gay sex seen so what, its part of life. 20 minutes later a heterosexual sex scene will be next. Also what is so christian about this show, please don’t insult the Christian community i dont think their values are represented in this show. I have never heard the Pastor of my church quote DOOL in his surmons.

I am pleased that the writers is addressing this issue, if they do a good job and show that this is just another form of love the people who are offended might learn tolerance.

I also can’t believe that because you don’t agree with one of the story line that you will stop watching, what about the other story lines that is going on at the same time, if you are such a fan they should keep you entertained.

It’s been on the air forever and I can appreciate that you all might run out of new ideas once in a while but please keep this story line fresh. Although I love a bit of DeMera drama as much as the next guy you got to do something new over here. If Stefano does one more thing to John this year I am going to LOOSE IT! I can not believe some of the comments I have read here today! What is this crap about ‘the gay agenda’ and having a gay storyline shoved down your throats. There is no such thing as ‘the gay agenda’- there is just a thing called life, and gay people wanting to live it just like hetrosexual people do, and not to be hidden away in some closet. As for this nonsense about having a ‘gay storyline shoved down your throat, I can’t believe I even read that on here. Gay people have straight storylines and everything else shoved down our throats every minute of every day. Isn’t it about time gay people were able to feel included in society just like everybody else?

Those of you who mentioned that you weren’t homophobic because you like ‘Ellen’, or you have a family member or friend who is gay, obviously don’t value those gay people you know very much or you wouldn’t want to have them denied their basic fundemental rights. Do you ever think about how hurt these people would be if they knew your true feelings that they are not as good as you?

As a straight man I find the whole tone of these negative comments abhorrent and it embarrasses me to have ‘straight’ people like you lumped in with me because if anything you are not straight, you are BENT!

As a straight male viewer, I don’t like it. Not because I don’t want to see a gay storyline, but because they chose Will. The first reason is that I believe it’s cheap writing to choose a character people are already invested in to try and make you care about a plot twist. If DOOL wanted to indulge in a gay plot-line they could easily have created a new character. What this says to me is that they don’t trust us to care if we don’t already care for the character. The second reason I don’t like that they chose Will, he is the least masculine of all the male characters. Plus, he’s the son of the most troubled mother currently. I feel this choice plays to easily into stereotypes, and that they are trying to be less offensive, as well as lazy, by doing so. People have been expecting Will to be a gay character for a long time. If you asked any one for the last five years who the most likely character is they would say Will. Because he’s the smallest of the main guys, and no longstanding relationship with a female character. It’s offended them least, and it was less difficult for them to process as a character change. If they had to recycle a character I would have more respect for this plot line if they had used Lucas, Mike, or Austin.

For those talking about skipping it, lol, who doesn’t skip half the show? There are plots I like, and ones I don’t care about. I don’t waste my time caring about Bo and Hope breaking up. They always get back together, and if I don’t pay attention to it in a year it won’t matter because they will be back together. And I don’t care to watch the fall of Alice Horton story because I am personally offended that they did it after the actress died. I haven’t decided if I’ll skip this one yet, but because I expect the writers to marginalize the character once the plot has run it’s course, I am tempted to tune out of it sooner than later.

I agree with many of the comments above…no one is saying or believing that this is not a real life story. There are gays in all of our lives. But, that said, I believe that the entertainment industry is taking some things too far. I personally do not care what sexual orientation someone is…but the media is forcing themselves to include some of these situations. I personally think Days of our Lives should have more African Americans and people of different races than worrying about sexual orientation. It just tells you who is writing these shows. Can the writers remove their own personal opinions from their writings??? Um no…I don’t think so. In my opinion makes them horrible writers. Think outside of your own life for once. Also, I don’t know just how far they will take these story lines…did anyone watch the episode of Private Practice, where 3 people were considered a “couple”….pushing it….really pushing it. Where does it end???

What agenda it is just 2 characters out of a large cast in a soap opera who is attracted to someone of the same gender. The extreme homophotic overreaction by the many commentators is ludicrous.

Its sad that historic shows like Days find the need to play into and satisfy that community, gays are nothing to flaunt in the world, hate me and dog me all you like its not going to change how I feel, queers have the will to say anything they like well its a two way street and straights can as well, its sick, fags need to go away and never return. Ive heard the whole “you can’t help who you love” crap, bs…. it really does suck that Days has to go with this, it should not be supported on any means much less national television

DAYS is digging its own grave with this storyline. They’re already in the bottom of the ratings, do they really think making Will gay will bring in more viewers? Look at Guiding Light, As the World Turns, All My Children and One Life to Live. They all pushed the gay agenda and they’re all canceled.

Just think guys. I have been watching DAYS for many many years started with my mother. By the way she past when I turned 6 and Days was something I have to remember her by and I am not guy by the way. I also started this tradition with my daughter who is now 18 years old. I don’t really care what kind of story line Days does or what or who comes out of the closet or who this person or that person sleeps with. I am just damn glad Days is still on TV and I don’t want to loose the filling I have every time I turn on the TV at 12:00 or click watch on my DVR. Because no body here will every no how I fill and what Days gives to me no matter what the story is.

I’m really ashamed at the way people talk about homosexuality in television. I wish their was a way to get to the ignorant people, but unfortunately it probably never will.

Being Gay is not an issue, or disease, or in anyway comparable to rape, prostitution, murder.

Gay is natural, just as heterosexuality or even being black or white. Why shouldn’t it be included, this is life, this is the world that we live in.

Now all of you should open your eyes to the beautiful friendship that will and sonny has. they aren’t all over each other. the show is trying to teach you the struggles that young and old people go through when they are facing their homosexuality. they hurt, they’re scared,
and ignorant people like you all make their lives even harder than they should be.

May God have mercy on your souls, for you believe you have the right to judge.

and may I point out that i am a heterosexual female with a 2 year old son. If my son ever told me he was gay i would accept that fact with not a single blink.

Shame on you. Spreading hatred is disgusting.
I have a homosexual daughter and sister. I do not agree with the lifestyle and they know how I feel and why… but I love them. They are not going to become straight just because I disagree with it. We can disagree all we want but it is not our choice. A choice you do have is FF through the scene or just stop watching. We do not need to force out opinions on one another, it only drives us further apart.

This comment is not directed towards people who get bored of the gay storyline. I forward thru plenty of other scenes, like the daily cheesy “making love” scenes. Lame!
Im talking about you BIGOTS commenting about how its wrong and disgusting.
I agree with Lorrie’s comment about MANY times people who are anti-gay are also anti-ethnic. They might not admit it but usually its always the case.

Like i said, I feel soooo sorry for your kids, niece’s, nephews and grandchildren.

Good job, DAYS! Keep the updated story lines coming. It definitely beats the story of Marlene’s being possessed.

Days has covered a multitude of sins; murder, theft, espionage, blackmail, rape, etc. BUT every single sin dealt with has been shown in a negative light, as they should be.

Now, they are continuing with the Homosexual agenda, portraying this sin as simply an alternate lifestyle.

I have been a fan for years, but if this homosexual agenda continues to be championed, I will find something else to do between 2 and 3 PM each day. Watching the grass grow would be far more productive.

And I am NOT a homophobe any more than I am a drunkoptheftophobeaphobe, homocideophobe, assaultophobe, zoophileophobe or necrophileophobe. Such attempts to claim that people opposed to sin are actually afraid of it are laughable.

I really like this idea. I’ve been watching the show for about 20 years now. Being someone who grew up struggling with his sexuality, I can’t wait to see how they tackle this REAL issue. I just remember feeling like I couldn’t tell anyone and feeling very alone and depressed. I even tried to take my own life in the 10th grade because I thought it would be easier. It is because of hateful people like those of you who left negative comments. You should think for a moment that it’s this hatred and unwillingness to hear the teens crying out for help struggling with this issue that is causing them to take their own lives. If this storyline was going on when I was a teen, maybe I wouldn’t have felt so alone. Good for you Days and I hope this is helping the gay teens watching the show. (This storyline isn’t about man on man sex!! It’s about how much of a struggle it is for our youth to come out because of people like you!!)

Homosexuality is NOT alright with God. God has made that very clear in the bible. But in this sick world we live in at this time, (And only an ignorant fool would fail to see what a sick world this is) people want to ignore God in favor of satisfying their own desires. No-one should ever harm another person because that person is gay, and no-one should encourage anyone else to harm someone based on their sexuality. However, it does need to be said that homosexuality is not alright with God. Homosexuality is a serious sin in the eyes of God.

I applaud DOOL’s as I do AMC and OLTL for pursuing gay storyline and doing a good job of it. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it but don’t shove your hatred on others or our youth and your children. We can’t be free to believe the Bible is the word of God? The Bible is very clear on what God thinks of homosexuality. Yes, I know gays are here to stay. I’ve been watching Days my whole life and that is NEVER going to change. I say good for Will. And to all the haters and HOMOPHOBES, homosexuality is not a choice in most cases, its who a person is. I have seen a lot of crazy looking stuff on here, like using the word abomination to describe gays. You are the abomination for spreading hate against people who havn’t done anything to you. Nobody is shoving homsexuality down your throat. Nobody is telling you that YOUR lifestyle is an abomination. You so called Christians hating against gods children, calling them abominations, well that sounds a bit hypocritic to me. I’m a christian and I don’t hate anybody, because I KNOW that christianity is not about hate or telling someone they are an “abomination” A good sane”Christian” does not hate everybody in the world that is not a straight, white, christian. Nobody is telling you how to live your life, or shove anything down your throat. Its just a storyline among many others on a great show. Just put yourself in a gay persons shoes. You make the choice to hate for no reason.

Or better yet, if you want a Hetero platform to bark from, be mad at Sami Brady. She has cheated on every man she has ever been with. She tried to commit murder, and has in general, been a terrible influence on her entire family. What? Nothing to Say? It’s a little different when the shoe is on the other foot. Why must people always bring up religion when it comes to homosexuality. It that your only argument. The bases of all religions is to do on to others at you would have done on to you. Stop spreading your hatred in your comment and just keep to yourself. God made everyone in his image and with the millions of people who are gay around the world it is pretty safe to say that he or she is okay with it. If you are quoting from the bible you are sadly delusional because the entire bible was seen over by Constantine who was in fact a Pegan. You base your entire belief on what one Roman Emperor believes and the many stories that were left out. The only reason why the gay thing is being shoved down your throat is because we are fighting for our rights just like the women and african americans did. Stop hating everyone. Oh and Will I cant wait to see you get it on with a hottie.

(178) Ashley says:

What is wrong with you people?! Do you not read the bible, it specifically states,

Leviticus 18:22

You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

No matter how it’s translated, NIV, ESV, whatever! These are Gods word, said by God! If you allow/accept gays, then you yourself are dealing with the enemy, which are gay people.

February 23, 2012 at 2:20 pm
(179) Ashley says:

Romans 1:27

And the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Google about how God destroyed the cities Sodom and Gomorrah because there were sexual immoral gay men in the city, in the bible in the book of Genesis 19:1-13.

I know how the bible says,
James 4:12

There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

But, if you are gay/accept gays, what will you say to God come judgemen day? “Oh, I know you don’t like gays, but I do, so forget what angers you, I’ll just do what I want. I didn’t care that it angered you to accept gays/be gay.” COME ON PEOPLE!

Good bye Days! You have crossed the line and I am cutting out the soap opera that stooped to a level meant only for those who have NO morals…I have watched Days since the ’60′s but knew it would come to an end one way or the other. Instead of the show being cancelled, which I feel sure it is destined to be now, I am drawing the line in the sand and ending our long affair. It is not because I feel self-righteous, but because the writers, producers, etc see fit to throw trash at the screen instead of silliness along with some reasonable story lines to entertain and not make us all wonder why God has not consumed us in fire! There was enough action in other areas of Days that this was not necessary! Enjoy the short ride left because it is only a short fall from here!!! :-0

It is a personal choice and God did not make these people this way. I guess DOOL is just going to crap like everything else in this world. People need to be reading the Bible and get their lives right with God! I just think it is a sad day that everything in the world has gotten so casual and “everything goes” nowdays. You would never have seen something like this on tv back in the 50′s or 60′s. Just pure gross!

(183) Ella says:

I have been watching Days for 25+ years and I’m completely turned off and sorry to say, won’t be watching it anymore because of today’s outward display of Will passionately kissing another man. I’m a Christian and believe that it is a sin to engage in homosexual behavior, and don’t think that NBC should should be sending the wrong message that it is acceptable. If you are reading this and don’t believe in the Bible, than I guess you would have to admit that you don’t believe in other historical facts, like books written about the Holocost or 911. I mean really…..How old does something have to be before you start not to believe it? A whole other issue. Point is homosexuality is not what God wants for us. I feel sad for those who choose to be Gay, and I do believe it is a choice, as my brother has confirmed (he is Gay) and continue to sin against God knowing it is wrong. I am disappointed in Days choice to air this behavior and although I love the cast and feel they are all talented, I can’t watch it.

That’s it for me too …. after many many years of watching … I’m done. I’ve seen this coming for the past few months but hoped the writers would back off on the story line. I’m sad to see after today’s episode that they are going full steam ahead with it. As a Christian I KNOW that homosexuality is a sin like any other sin and agree completely with Ashley, Margaret and Ella’s posts above. It’s very sad to see how the morality of the world continues to decline and that we who take a stand against such things are called homophobes and intolerant. Someday, when each of us stands before God, it will become clear that what the Bible says is true. My conscience can be clear knowing that I took a stand on this issue and never waivered. All I can do now is pray for those who don’t know the truth and hope that they can turn away from their evil ways.

February 23, 2012 at 7:28 pm
(185) Scott B. says:

There is a big difference between “ignorance” and “stupidity”! Ignorance is not knowing something. Stupidity is not trying to learn something! For all you ignorant people out there, I am sorry that you don’t know! For all you stupid people out there, shame on you!
For all you (stupid) heterosexual people…when did you have to be fearful of coming out and telling your parents that you were heterosexual, for fear of being judged, ridiculed, harassed, shamed, teased, tortured, and killed, for being different?
Doesn’t the Bible say to “Love thy neighbor”, not “Love thy neighbor, only, if they aren’t gay”?
As one person said, in an earlier posting, that gay people are the same as pedophiles, rapists, and murderers, but if you look at the facts, statistically, most pedophiles, rapists, and murders…are heterosexual!
I have a 27 year old son, that was raised by my (homosexual) partner, and myself, and he is a very well adjusted, upstanding citizen, that is married (to a woman) and has 2 of the most beautiful, amazing, and wonderful children, and they are a very happy family! So, until it can be proven that homosexuality is due to upbringing, or surroundings, you should take your ignorance, and stupidity, and throw it away and try to learn how to be a more educated and loving person and you, too, can live a happier life, instead of worrying what everyone else is doing wrong!
Why wouldn’t you take the time to look deep inside yourself and try to “be a better person” instead of judging others and voicing such hateful thoughts, just to make yourself “look better”?
I am blessed to have many friends that are different genders, nationalities, and sexual orientations and I love them all, equally, and they treat me with the same equality…that’s why I love them, all, EQUALLY!

That’s like me telling you to stop being attracted to the opposite sex. You people are ridiculous!! It’s unbelievable… Someday you’ll all realize how wrong and close minded you’ve been. (192) Patsy Dahling says:

I am absolutely disgusted by the homophobia from all these Days “fans.” For once (thank God), the show is actually depicting a realistic, modern teen story as opposed to some convoluted crap, and the show gets lambasted for it? It’s this kind of narrow-minded conservatism displayed by these hateful “fans” that has been coddled for far too long that has prevented soaps from growing and thriving in the 21st century.

And please don’t even bring God and religion into this without mentioning all the lies, adultery, murder, and rape committed by heterosexual characters that they enjoy watching so much everyday.

Days: don’t give in to this SMALL percentage of the soap community. I guarantee that they are filled with nothing but empty threats. Even if you do lose 1 viewer, you will gain 2 more viewers (more than likely from your coveted 18-49 demo) because of this groundbreaking storyline. Keep up the good work and don’t pay attention to this radical foolishness.

February 24, 2012 at 10:48 am
(193) Val says:

To be honest I think the storyline is good and how is this worse than a rapist as a leading man. The only problem long term is that it limits story potential and romantic options for the 2 token gay characters on canvas going forward because for the most part soaps are still old and stodgy in terms of stories and Days tends to recycle the same played out couples and storylines.

It is rather unfortunate that our society gets shaped, manipulated and conditioned on what to think, say, believe, buy, wear, eat, etc…. by a few porkbarrelers in ivory towers in New York or California. Whatever ideologies they feel we should embrace, products we should buy or countries we should go to war with they simply throw them on the airwaves and condition the masses.

I was never “taught” anything about homosexuality by my parents or in school. I learned of it as a child watching Three’s Company…but never had visuals rammed down my throat about it, so I learned to accept homosexuals as people. AS IT SHOULD BE!!!

But this….this display is over the top and borderline repulsive. They went from not having a single gay guy to having a complete gay clique in a matter of a couple months! I understand what they are doing, based on my first paragraph….but like I said, way over the top.

Friends,

If you identify as a Bible-believing Christian, please read on.

I have attended seminary—a politically conservative one in the American South. I speak two Middle Eastern languages and have working knowledge of liturgical Latin and New Testament Greek.

The arguments some of you have offered to try to “prove” that God condemns homosexual attractions, romances, and sexual intimacy indicate that you have not studied the scriptures in their original languages and cultural contexts.

If you had, you would realize the following:

Nowhere in Old or New Testament does God condemn homosexual attractions, romances and sexual intimacies in of themselves. The Bible–both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament–contains hundreds of thousand of verses, of which only six–that’s right, six–mention any same-sex activity. The original languages and cultural contexts of these six passages reveal that God condemned only *certain* illicit same-sex activities…in JUST THE SAME WAY he condemned certain illicit heterosexual activities.

Allow me to summarize. I will be back with a second comment, below.

Part 1

Here are the most famous of the Biblical passages in question:

Genesis 19 (Sodom & Gomorrah):

The angry mob that wanted to commit sexual violence against the male visitors to Lot’s house is described as “ALL the men of Sodom.” Not all the gay men. All the men, young and old, most of whom were heterosexual the way the majority of men in the human population tend to be.

That largely “Straight” male mob wanted to humiliate and harm the strangers in their midst, and sexual violence is the most humiliating and effective form of violence known to humans. God condemned this unseemly bloodlust–emphasis on the BLOOD, not the lust; God was absolutely SILENT on the subject of same-sex partners involved in a loving and intimate relationship.

Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13:

In this book of the Hebrew Bible, G-d (whom Christians, too, worship) is setting forth a book of laws to the Hebrew tribes, urging them to differentiate themselves from the Canaanite and Egyptian cultures from which they’ve just emerged. Canaanites and Egyptians endorsed a form of homosexual temple prostitution. If you read the passage in Hebrew, you will see that it was the TEMPLE part of the equation that earned G-d’s condemnation, not the homosexual part. This is because the Abrahamic deity is the god of montheism, and anything that smacks of polytheisim, idol worship or other gods is a big no-no.

In fact, G-d condemned many more *hetero* acts of temple sex than he did homosexual ones…yet, one never hears pastors interpret this as evidence that G-d hates HETEROsexuality. Go figure.

February 24, 2012 at 4:19 pm
(200) EK says:

Part 2

Romans 1:21-28:

Again, here in the New Testament we see the same context as in the Hebrew Bible above. Paul, the author of the letter to the Romans, is condemning the dissolution and wanton idolatry of those in Roman society who, in their ravenous lust to experience any and everything related to hedonism, went against their natural orientations (in this case, HETEROsexual) and engaged in debauched temple sex with pagan strangers, many of whom were of their own sex.

Once again, Paul’s (and God’s) focus here is unbridled hedonism, orgies, temple worship of other gods, and the disregarding of one’s own natural orientation in order to hedonistically experience any and every type of physical sensation (again, due to temple sex/polytheism).

Where does Paul (and God) condemn the loving unions of stable, monotheistic, Christ-following gays and lesbians?

Nowhere.

The passage doesn’t exist, because those types of relationships were not known in Roman society at the time. Like the Old Testament authors of Leviticus, Paul couldn’t condemn something that was unknown in his society at the time.

(201) EK says:

But don’t take my word for it, folks. Seek out scholarship on the subject; there are thousands of books and articles written by pastors, priests, and seminarians who are experts in Biblical exegesis.

For a nice (and very brief and easy to read!) overview of all these passages, read “The Children Are Free,” by the Rev. Jeff Miner and John Tyler Connoley.

Briefly put: if you have been taught by your pastor or priest that the God of the Christian Bible condemns homosexuality, you have been taught one set of interpretations by one set of (fallible) humans.

I have just offered you a different set of interpretations by a different set of (fallible) humans.

The question now remains: What makes you choose the former set of interpretations over the latter?

I will tell you why I choose the latter. Because I try to be guided in all things by my role model, Jesus the Christ, and The Holy Spirit. I ask myself which set of interpretations–both handed down to us by fallible humans–more closely reflects the spirit and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Christ extended his hand to women in a society where women were dirt under men’s feet. Christ extended his healing love to lepers (social pariahs beyond hope), tax collectors (ditto), an Ethiopian eunuch (a group of men often identified with homosexual interests; see Acts 8) and, yes, even to the young male slave and lover of an older man who begged Jesus to heal his beloved (Matthew 8:5-13 and Luke 7:1-10. The scriptures use the Greek word “pais”–a common term for younger male lover— to refer to the sick slave.)

The actions of Christ Himself and the love of Christ compel me to choose the second set of Biblical interpretations.

Which do YOU choose…and why?

February 24, 2012 at 4:23 pm
(202) EK says:

Friends, I urge you to cast away the cultural and social ties that bind you–that bind us all– and read the Word guided by the Holy Spirit.

I urge you to reject the natural–but sinful– human impulse to remain at the front of line at the expense of those at the back (“Straight characters and storylines have been the mainstay of DAYS for 40 years and that’s the way it should remain, By God”! No, not by God’s will but by your own).

I urge you to keep in mind that non-Christians look at your words and behaviors and ascribe them to Christ Himself. They get a distorted image of Jesus and jump to incorrect conclusions about Christianity because of your words and actions, which appear fueled by culture, society and tribe, not by the Word.

Take care that the “fruits of the spirit” that you show to the world are the ones laid out in Galatians: “Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”

Our sinful world full of human strife and oppression has instilled in us the need to separate our brothers and sisters into groups and feverishly try to find justification in the scriptures for this separation and hierarchy.

The White majority in the U.S. did it in the 19th and early 20th centuries–they used Paul’s own words in the New Testament—to try to justify human slavery and ethnic prejudice. Now, some members of the hetero majority try to do the same with the six Biblical passages I explained above. This is separation from God’s plan for humanity, and thus is sin.

I know it is hard to overcome a lifetime of socialization–trust me; I work at it everyday.

But Christ has set us free from the chains we place upon ourselves, our minds, and others. With Him, all things are possible!

May you read the Word for yourselves with the Spirit guiding you and the love of Christ compelling your hearts.

“Ubi caritas et amor, deus ibi est.”

Where there is charity (love), there God is.

Grace and peace to you all.

You have interesting exegesis my friend. Since you are going to the original languages I would be interested to hear your take on the following:

In looking to Jude 7, we see that Sodom and Gomorrah gave themselves over to ἐκπορνεύω (exceeding fornication). The word “ἐκπορνεύω” is a strengthened form of πορνεία (fornication) and is only used two times in the whole Bible, in the book of Jude, in reference to strange flesh. πορνεία on the other hand, is used countless times in the New Testament in reference to illicit sexual intercourse that is strictly prohibited and sinful in the eyes of God. πορνεία is not only used in association with prohibited sexual relationship outside the bounds of marriage but is also used in the prohibition of sexual relations between a father’s wife and his son (1 Corinthians 5:1). One might wonder why the intensified use of πορνεία is used within Jude 7? The answer to the question is that Jude 7 describes exceeding fornication when “one goes after strange flesh” (i.e. male going after a male). From this, Jude 7 clearly shows that, “Because Sodom and Gomorrah committed exceeding fornication and went away after other flesh, they lie before the eyes as an indication of eternal fire in undergoing justice.”

Part 2:

In looking to Ezekiel 16:49 one sees that, “this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had arrogance, abundant food and careless ease, but she did not help the poor and needy.” At first it looks as if the only reason for the destruction of Sodom was due to arrogance and carelessness. However one must read on to verse 50, which states, “Thus they were haughty and committed abominations before Me. Therefore I removed them when I saw it.” What is interesting is that not only was Sodom arrogant and careless, they also committed abomination (to^‛e^bah). According to BDB, to^‛e^bah means, “a disgusting thing.” This same word (to^‛e^bah) is also used in Leviticus 18:22 & 20:13 in reference to when a man lies with another man as one lies with a woman. Therefore, Ezekiel 16:49-50 counts not only the carelessness of Sodom but also its abomination (exceeding fornication) for reasons of destruction.

My friends, the actions of Christ Himself and the love of Christ compel us to be faithful to the Word in spite of the current pressures of current socialization.

(210) Justin says:

Here’s a few bible quotes that were left out.
When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl’s owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)
So these are the Bible family values! A man can buy as many sex slaves as he wants as long as he feeds them, clothes them, and screws them!

When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)
“For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him.” (Leviticus 20:9)
Imagine what would happen today if we killed every child who was disrespectful to his parents. Fundamentalists explain this verse away, saying that it is part of the Old Levitical Holiness Code and is not meant to be taken literally.
• The Bible says that eating shrimp and lobster is an abomination:
“But all in the seas or in the rivers that do not have fins and scales, all that move in the water or any living thing which is in the water, they are an abomination to you.” (Leviticus 11:10)

February 26, 2012 at 7:14 pm
(211) PM says:

@ Justin

Couple of thoughts:

1) The main thrust of this scripture is not necessarily approving polygamous marriages, but God is protecting the rights of women who find themselves in polygamous marriages.

2) Slaves had greater human rights under God’s Law than under the laws of many other nations during this period of time.

3) The Hebrew word in Leviticus 11:10 that is translated as abomination is a completely different from the Hebrew word used for abomination in the passages I quoted earlier.

Finally, a question for you.

If Homosexuality in Leviticus 18:22 is “not” an abomination as you are obviously inferring, does that mean that verses 18:21 and 18:23 are also not an abomination and should be welcomed and embraced? Help me out on this please!

Whether you respect the Bible or not, I gently suggest that you consider context in your interpretation.

February 26, 2012 at 9:12 pm
(212) Justin says:

An abomination is an abomination is an abomination. You can’t pick and choose which “actually” is and isn’t. If you’re a christian then if the bible says something is an abomination it is: plain and simple. Do I personally think so? No absolutely not. I think it’s hilarious that someone will burn in hell for eating shrimp, but it’s ok for that same someone to sell their child into slavery.

If you’re going to be a god fearing christian you should live the life. Not simply pick and choose the parts of the bible that you want to follow of shove down the throats of others. If you think gays/lesbians are going to hell for loving a member of the same sex, then all the church goers that head to Red Lobster after Sunday service and dine on lobster and shrimp will be there with them.

@ Justin

It is a good thing that I am allergic to shell fish and can’t eat lobster, thanks for the heads up brother!

By the way your argument about picking and choosing parts of the Bible is very convenient way of avoiding the issue and over simplifying things. You obviously don’t have the foggiest idea on how to do proper Biblical Interpretation. I don’t mean that to sound arrogant, just stating a fact my friend.

If I wanted to, I could use your rationale and accuse you of picking and choosing also, especially in avoiding the context of 18:21 & 18:23.

Quick suggestion. If you don’t agree nor respect the Bible, just say so. This argument will be over then! However, if you are going to criticize Christians on their interpretation of the Bible, it seems to me that you should understand the principles of Biblical Interpretation first before you criticize. Proper understanding must always proceed criticism.

(214) PM says:

Oh, one more thing that you should know.

During famines and economic hardships, some families didn’t have enough food or resources to provide for their children. As a result parents would sell their children into slavery knowing that as a slave their child’s basic needs such as “food, shelter, etc” would be provided for. As a slave they would actually be taken care of “more” by the slaver owner than that parents could provide for them. This was an act of kindness and compassion trying to provide for their children.

Here again Justin, some proper Biblical Interpretation would show you that parents who sold their children into slavery were not doing this to make a cheap buck but were doing it out of desperation and as an act of compassion to “save their children” in the midst of a famine or economic hardships; hardships that are so bad we probably will never be able to understand.

To those who don’t understand why they made Will gay i think its to show that gays are overly flamboyant or ‘easily’ spotted. I understand he didn’t show any “signs” but maybe the idea is to open the audience up to the idea of gays being just like everyone else. To be honest i think the writers know exactly who their fans are and are simply trying to present to them something they would never have ever understood or tried to understand – its just like someone said “its education”.

And finally to those who say “god hates gays” or “it’s adam and eve not adam and steve” honestly have u ever actually spoken to GOD himself / herself do you know exactly what his views are on colour, sexual orientation and child raising?? No… ok so umm how do you know he hates gays / blacks / asians / same sex parenting / anything else the bible says? how bout this when you DO speak to god come back and tell us all what HE / SHE said…

Oh and to that person who brought up the whole sex with children and animals thing – really?? is that where your mind goes when you think about letting gays / lesbians be together?? and to class gays with pedophiles, rapists and other criminals isn’t right… are you gonna put your daughter / son in jail if they were gay? or what if they had sex before marriage? maybe they talked to a gay person or made friends with a black person? we should just lock em up now right? here’s an idea why don’t you travel back to WW2 join hitler and enjoy spreading all your hate? at least then we wouldn’t have to deal with you…

I myself understand what the soaps are trying to do. In my opinion they are trying to teach us tolerance and acceptance. God is the only one to judge not us for we will be judged!!!

@ Justin

My Opinion? I just reviewed all of my posts and I don’t see anywhere I have offered up my opinion on the issue of homosexuality! I merely offered up my opinion on Biblical Interpretation and the need to consider verses within their proper context.

If you want my personal opinion about homosexuality though I would be happy to offer it. I don’t believe the idea of a homosexual gene holds water! My personal opinion though is not backed experience but by “reason.” For example: If homosexuality were genetically dictated or strongly influenced, there is no way a “homosexual gene” or “genes” could maintain themselves in the population. (One adult needs to have an average of one child if a specific gene, or many specific genes, present in the adult are to stay in the gene pool. But, on average, five “exclusive” homosexuals produce only one child among them. At that rate, homosexuality would die out of the population in several generations. Obviously this hasn’t happened. However, about 50% of homosexuals are or have been married, making them bisexuals, with an average of 1.25 children each. Exclusive homosexuals and bisexuals, combined, still produce an average of only 0.9 children each, meaning that a homosexual gene or genes would still slowly, but inevitably, disappear from the gene pool.)

I strongly suggest that our opinions be backed more than simple experience.

Also, did you know that you are applying what is called, “Ad Hominem Reasoning” to me? In other words, Ad Hominem reasoning is an attempt to negate the truth of a claim by not confronting the claim itself but by pointing out a perceived or realistic negative characteristic in the person making the claim so as to negative truth. In other words, “You are not loving, therefore, what you are saying is simply not true.”

Sorry my friend, we need to look at facts and assertions. Otherwise, you could call me hateful and then I could turn around and call you a moral relativist without a moral compass and then we could go around and around debating our character and who is more loving and who is a better person and never discuss the issue itself.

So here is some documented material that might be worth considering:

“Gay gene” researcher Dr. Dean Hamer (himself a gay man) was asked by Scientific American if homosexuality was rooted solely in biology. He replied: “Absolutely not. From twin studies, we already know that half or more of the variability in sexual orientation is not inherited.

Brain researcher and gay activist Dr. Simon LeVay–whose study of the hypothalamus in homosexuals made international headlines–now admits: “At this point, the most widely held opinion [on causation of homosexuality] is that multiple factors play a role.”

Psychiatrist Jeffrey Satinover states: “There is no evidence that shows that homosexuality is genetic–and none of the research itself claims there is. Only the press and certain researchers do, when speaking in sound bites to the public.”

In Twin studies: A very complex comparisons of identical twins and non-identical twins definitively rule out genetic determinism. If homosexuality were genetic, identical cotwins of homosexual men and women would also be homosexual 100% of the time, but they aren’t. i.e. If one is homosexual, the identical brother usually isn’t. There is only an 11% chance he is homosexual. This includes all the influences we know nothing about and are yet to discover.

The only way Days will survive is if they pick up a large following of the people who are tolerant to that lifestyle. But for me…I watched the last Days of Our Lives. I will check back every so often to see if the network has re-considered their decison.

To those who think this is bad idea… as much sex as soaps have delivered over the years it’s about time we (homosexuals) actually saw something we can identify with.

We’ve had straight sex on display for us forever… gay sex is no different than gay sex. If gay sex makes you uncomfortable, good! It’s about time you had it jammed down your throat the same way straight sex has been jammed down ours. Learn to accept it the same way we accept heterosexual sex. We’re here. We’re queer. Get used to it. We don’t care anymore if you don’t like it.

Leaving God out of the equation, I ask: Is it normal behavior for a man to insert his sex organ into the anus of another human being (man or woman)? I don’t think that is the purpose of those two body parts. I believe what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own home is their business. I also agree with Cal that homosexuality is an alternate life style shared by less than 10% of the population. I don’t understand why Days of our Lives would want to alienate the other 90% of the population who truly are not interested in this topic.

(237) FRC says:

I do not support this storyline, at all. I have no problem with gay storylines in daytime. AMC made Bianca, Erica’s daughter gay, and I’m not sure if the ratings suffered because of a major character coming out. However, with this newest daytime character now written as gay, I can see why fans would not be supporting this story arc.

As an African American woman who remembers the nasty backlash regarding David Banning and his black gf, Days of Our lives haven’t really delved deeper in this issue since. However, I do resent gays and their supporters likening the gay experience to Black Civil Rights. THey’re not the same and it’s offensive on it’s face to suggest as much. IT’s as if a great many of you need a reality check and history lesson as to why both groups are vastly different. Last time I checked, being Black was not immoral. Anyhoo, I wish people would stop posting dribble about how gays are just as oppressed as minorities because it wreaks of desperation, ignorance, and gross exaggeration.

And if a gay person ever said that to a black person in real life, or supporter of gay rights, then you’d better develop a thicker skin. Do not compare Black Civil Rights that is STILL GOING ON to that of gay rights because I have no problem as a black woman explaining the differences to anyione.

As far as the gay storyline goes, if it’s done like ATWT with Luke, Lily, Damian, and Holden, then it will be done with realism.

@Days Fan Oh okay!!! What’s so god like about someone cheating on their spouse; Sami/EJ, Madison/Brady; eventhough each one is married TO SOMEONE ELSE? As for family and love; yes and 18 year old trying to bed a 30 year old married man is also acceptable, but that’s okay for an 11 year to watch: “Well honey you can cheat on your husband and try to bed a older married man as long as you ask God for forgiveness!” Oh but Will being gay is wrong! Shut up!!!!

I’m getting tired of having the heterosexual agenda shoved down my throat!!! Those who hate the storyline you are homophobic. If you were TRUE FANS you wouldn’t give a damn. or those who use these excuse: “I don’t have a problem with gay people, I have a gay relatives/friends…, I’m not a homophobe…”NO YOU ARE A HOMOPHOBE, you all bitch about that stroyline, but not straight people in bed naked every damn time; if you hate it they invented something it’s called a remote use it next time!!!

As for this “Gay Agenda” please expalin? What we want people to have an open-mind and accept everyone equally? or having people not care what others do in their lives? oh wait or is it that we are just like anyone else on the street and want the same rights as everyone else?

Okay. I see a lot of ignorance on this page.

1. Why is homosexuality a big deal? It’s as natural and recurring as heterosexuality, and all other variants of sexuality.
2. Why is a gay storyline cause for offense? Heterosexuality is in all forms of media. You can say you’re not a homophobe, but if you feel like homosexual content is being forced on you, then you definitely can’t accept it.
3. Someone compared it to plots of prostitution and rape. You’re disgusting. Just because it’s not heterosexual doesn’t make it perverse.
4. From a bisexual perspective.. Gays. Straights. It doesn’t matter. Just live your lives how you please. Accept people for who they are, and don’t watch sexual encounters if they bother you.

I recall a little NBC show called Will (Yes, Will…hahaha) & Grace that aired for almost ten years! It was a gay gay gay show, and was very popular. It’s television, people. If you don’t like it, don’t watch; There will be many GLBT viewers and so many others who will take your place. Keep up the great work DOOL!!

And also, everyone talking about the people against the whole gay thing, calling them haters and what not, that’s exactly what you are doing to them! Just as you have an opinion for something, others can have their opinion against. It seems a little unfair these days that if you speak up against something you don’t agree with, you are almost forced to change your mind. I can have my opinion. You can have yours.

I personally LOVE the story line!

The world is changing quickly, we live in a time of self expression and being comfortable in ones own skin. It’s okay that people have opinions about what they like or don’t like, or what they believe in; whatever that may be.
I am a gay man who looks to GOD to get me through the day whether it’s good or bad. I thank him reguarly* for my blessings, and for my pain for I know he’s teaching me a lesson in life. I worry that being gay is against God, but I know how I feel. I live a religious life and my partner and I raise our daughter that way. We understand why people are upset, and respect others opinions but we cannot deny who we are. We tried for many years to live a heterosexual lifestyle but it wasn’t working. I did make a choice but only to accept who I really was.
I will not judge any opinions here because I do not want to be judged. I am going to do the GODLY thing and treat my neighbors as my friends, and if I judge I expect to be judged.
i only pray that dool can bring as gay character in and keep him seperate from gay stereotypes.

I hope everyone realizes that gay story lines have been around in the Soap world for more than 30 years now. Some of the folks who are wigged out about it here make me feel as though I’ve tapped into a 50′s time warp. And really – when did any Soap ever adhere to a strict idea of “morality” of any kind? They’re selling sex people – wake up. So, if you’re really concerned about that fact then you might want to restrict you’re TV viewing to the family channel. They recently revived “The Walton’s” and “Little House on the Prairie” – maybe that would work better for you. Me, well, I plan to stick with DOOL for awhile longer – and in large part due to the fact that Chandler Massey does a stellar job portraying Will…especially since they’ve expanded his part.

58 years old and have been a fan as long as I can remember. I am no longer since DOOL has gone the way of shoving alternative lifestyle down our throats. I no longer watch this soap and predict it will soon go off air because most of us don’t want to watch same sex couples getting jiggy with it. Trying to indoctrinate the main stream to what seems to be the new normal is repulsive and my choice not to watch. The writers are going to have a lot of actors out of a job. I hope more people stand up and say we are sick of this and we will not take it anymore!

Well, today was the last straw. I’m done. What about us new moms who use this hour to just chill out while eating their lunch, and their toddler comes in and sees two guys kissing….don’t you think that would be a little confusing to such a young mind? And what if that Mom didn’t want her child to see this at such a young age and have to explain? She’ll have plenty of time in the future to have to do that, that’s for sure. I refuse to be indoctrinated by the politically correct. Call me a homophobe. I’m a Christian and I’m called intolerant AND a homophobe. I always loved DOOL because even though there were lots of improprieties committed through the years, there was always this moral element that called wrong “wrong” and right “right”. The entire show has been boring anyway. Your house of cards just came down. You did it to yourselves. Shame on you.

Yes, more of the same protest! But I am happy to see that so many viewers are standing up and speaking out! Unfortunately, I will have to end my relationship with DOOL after 40 years. I don’t think the Gay storyline will be successful in the long run and it will cost the show tremendously. People will get tired of it and move on. I just watched Will and Sonny kiss about 3 times in 30 minutes. It is completely over-the-top, unnatural, and enough for me to say “SO LONG DAY’S!”

I don’t think so. Seriously show of hands….How many of you WANT to watch 2 guys make out?

I know the comment i’m replying to occurred about 8 months ago, but I can’t resist. I’m a straight woman, and I really love watching two guys making out. If that makes me a horrible sinner and for this I will burn in hell, all I can say is…. BURN BABY BURN!!!

Also, I can’t believe the vitriolic and hateful comments that some people have posted on here (well that’s actually a lie. I know some people can’t just view these matters objectively or at the very least not degrade and ill-wish their fellow HUMAN BEINGS).

All I know is that I applaud the writers for trying to have some semblance of real life portrayed in their show. I myself will continue to watch and will make sure that I fight for as long as I live to make sure that LGBTIQ people get the rights and respect they deserve.

Taping the show and hitting fast forward when Will is on doesn’t solve the problem of DOOL shoving the “Gay” theme down our throats. You still give them revenue by watching… It is like making a pan of brownies with a little bit of “poo” in it, you pick out the bad parts, and eat the rest thinking that will be ok. The best way to send the message is to STOP WATCHING the show all together and write a letter to the producer as I did. NO MORE DOOL in my home. Also, the Hollywood liberals that try to SHOVE their stupid left wing rhetoric down our throats, have lost my box office support. I will no longer go to their movies, or watch any TV shows after they spout off with their stupid statements.

I was so disapointed to see Will be gay. It is such a romatic waste on the show. Now Chad and mabey Nick are the onlly 20 something guys. I also don’t think that it should be on a mainstream show. I don’t think that Lucas is homophobic because he doesn’t want his son to be gay. Because so many people are fast forwarding the gay scenes, and not speaking out about it, you guys think that we agree. I hope that this is all some plot by Stephano that someone fixes soon. Chandler Massey is an amazing actor. Last year’s Christmas scenes with him being mad at sammy were what won him the Emmy. Days, please ungay Will, and let him and Gabby raise their baby together!(for those of you who don’t remember…. they slept together last month)

Also,
Daytime is about fantasy and romance. Why are you trying to make a statement? Watching Sonny and Will is like watching an after school special. There is no dramatic storyline, they serve no purpose, and it is such a waste of Will on the show. I try to watch, see the subliminal brainwashing and lack of plot point, and fast forward to parts of the show that are actually interesting. Again, it is not about being homophobic…(afraid of gay people), it is about wanting to get home from work, and enjoy the show.

My uncle my best friend my hero he was gay but we were never raised with him flaunting it or being sexual in our presence. the reason gays kept it behind closed doors for so long is bc they obviously knew it was wrong and shameful. just bc one person had the idea to say” hey were gay and proud and were people too” DOESN’T mean or make it right lol it was just one person who decided to have a voice. That became brainwashing to everyone else that its ok. It’s not an “agenda”. It simply to give a voice to a large group of people who are lacking a voice that is similar to their own story. For every same-gender storyline, there are thousands that aren’t.

We should be past this… but then we STILL have racism. One cannot help but compare this to the racial issues. It is just as ignorant as that. People just happen to have religion to hide behind.

America is seperation of church and state. It is liberty and justice for all. If people don’t like it, there are countries in the world who do not have that foundation in their country, where prople CAN be legally killed for being gay or practicing other certain religions. Just relocate. America is not the place to use religion to oppress others.

And lastly, other people, from harmless walks of life, gaining equal freedoms and representation is not stripping you of anything, or infringing on your rights. They are simply fghting to be able to do exactly what you do. If you don’t agree with two adults consenual love for each other, it’s within your rights in your church to not allow for such unions. Somehow, we have convinced ourselves that by our country allowing two adults of the same gender to marry, that it is somehow directly affecting us. No, there are same gender coples getting married right at this moment and we are not affected in any way before or after. Let people live their lives in freedom and peace. It should be things like violence and stealing… that affects another’s health and things they own, that we should be rallying against.

The wiccans (ironically) said it best: If it harm none, let ye do what ye will.

(I say ironically because I am a Christian, but I’m not going to ignore the fact that another religion has a saying that makes total sense when it comes to us as human beings. Stop trying to run/ruin other people’s lives and wrk on YOURSELF)

Having said that, I have to also say that I have become increasingly uncomfortable with the intensity of the love scenes between Will and Sonny. Unless these two actors are actually gay themselves, even they must find it difficult to portray these characters.

Surely there must be a subtler approach to the small screen depiction of the gay lifestyle. DOOL is, after all, daytime (not prime time or late hour) programming.
