Remember wild, wacky Susan Banks; EJ's long lost mother, who was played to perfection by Eileen Davidson (Ashley, The Young and the Restless) back in 1998? According to Soap Opera Digest, the character will resurface on Days of Our Lives for a quick appearance on December 7. Only this time around she'll be portrayed by daytime vet, Brynn Thayer.
Thayer is best known to soap audiences for her role as Jenny Wolek on One Life to Live; a character she played from 1978 to 1986. She also appeared as Kylie Quinlan on General Hospital in 1994.
When viewers last saw Susan, the character had married Edmund Crumb. The pair relocated to England, where they were raising Susan's baby son, Elvis/EJ. Since EJ returned to Salem in 2006, he has occasionally mentioned speaking to his mother on the phone.

Don’t know who this actress is that is going to play EJ’s mother, but I wished it could have been Eileen Davidson. She was great playing all of those characters as Susan was my favorite. Hope this new lady can fill in big shoes as being the wacky Susan!

If Days is going to bother to bring back EJ’s goofy mother Susan Banks …. the ONLY oneI I want to see play her is the one who originated the character !!! Period. Eileen Davidson.

For some odd reason, I think this actress played on Matlock once upon a time! Yuck!!! Only Eileen Davidson can play Susan! It’s just like Days to get it WRONG, yet again
I think Brynn Thayer will be great. However, she certainly doesn’t look old enough to be EJ’s mother. Of course, neither does John Black who she tried to pass off as the daddy either!!
When Eileen Davidson played Susan Banks, didn’t she have John tricked into marrying her somehow?
I thought Eileen played Kristen Blake though, Steffano’s adopted daughter & Jason Brooks played Peter Blake, Steffano’s adopted son.
