After bringing back a slew of familiar faces in 2011, could Days of Our Lives be planning another in 2012? Like Bryan R. Dattilo, who played Lucas? Soap Opera Digest is reporting that the actor was recently spotted at the show's Burbank set.
With Will's long list of problems of late - the character has been spinning out of control, since he spied Sami and EJ having sex, and his girlfriend, Gabi, broke up with him -- the timing would be right for his father's return to Salem. Lucas could be a sounding board for his troubled son; especially when the teen comes to terms with the fact that he's gay.
Dattilo last appeared on Days in June 2010, when Lucas returned for his grandmother Alice's funeral.

I for one, would be happy if this is true.
There are much better characters that should be brought back to Days Of Our Lives before him. Like Shawn and Belle, that would give Bo and Hope more family and Belle should be there for her parents. This is just going to mean more of the Sami Brady show and she is on enough as it is. Lucas was a whiny bitchy character so I really hope this is not true. Just because a few of his fans and lumi fans spam every message board there is and spams twitter on a nonstop basis doesn’t mean this is what us general fans want. These stupid fanbases have been what’s wrong with the show now it is just going to get worse. No I’ll pass on the whole stupid Safe, Lumi Ejami wars I don’t want to watch it and I’m sick of reading about it. A few different small groups should not be allowed to dicate the show and ruin it for us true soap fans.

I would be happy for Lucas to come back to Days… I wonder if Sami and Lucas will ever be back together.. Sami I think will go through a rough patch from what she did with EJ and everything else happening

However, this is about Lucas. I think they could give Lucas a very good story if he came back to support Will. I don’t want to see him paired with Sami or Carrie or anyone else right now. Just be there for Will
I think it’s not only Lumis wanting him back. The misconception that only Lumis like Lucas is what got TPTB in trouble in the first place. There are MANY Lucas fans out there and if anyone would bother reading ALL the message board, you would REALIZE that it’s not just Lumi fans wanting him back. I’ve taken a snapshot of all message boards and the response is overwhelming positive across the boards. Obviously there are Lumis wanting him back, but there are MANY wanting a good story for Lucas. I might not like a character, but I’m not going to go out there wanting to simply bring back everyone else but him because ‘it fits’….really? So Lucas’ son is going through a traumatic experience in his life but his father shouldn’t be around but Shelle should? REALLY?
I’m glad he might be on his way back, Lucas is not only wanted but NEEDED in Salem. Hope Bryan is back gracing our screens soon
I might start actually watching the show again instead of only reading spoiler updates if Lucas comes back.
Well, count me in on the Lucas should be Salem even if everyone else left there, altho I am a Lumi fan. That marriage ended much too soon and for very poor reasons that really were contrived and not to be believed. What man goes to jail and won’t let his newly wedded wife visit, but expects her to remain true for however many years he would remain in jail? Another case of poor writing. Still, Lucas has always been there for Sami in the end, so I expect that he will talk her through this crisis as well and be the hero again. Plus, his daughter, Johnny’s twin, needs him. All I can say is, today is the day of the morning after pill, and Sami better not be pregnant again from her third coital experience with the dreaded EJ. If so, I’ll really have to throw up and then turn the channel ASAP. Tired of that!

It would be great to have Lucas back. Will obviously needs him and so does Sami. Lucas is and was Sami’s best friend. If anyone can save her from herself and save her marriage it’s Lucas. It would be great to see Lucas fall in love and have a life that doesn’t involve pain and being used by women like Nicole. It would be great to see Lucas stand up to Kate much like Brady has stood up to Victor and earned his respect. In the end, Kate will need Lucas to save her from her diabolical husband and step-son. A grown-up Lucas would be an awesome change.

Over the past 28 of watching DOOL, I’ve seen so many great actors come and go and sometimes I think I’ll never get over their leaving. Like when Peter Reckell left for a while and someone else played Bo or most recently when Philip left. However I can honestly say that I have never connected either emotionally or physically with Lucas. I get that Bryan is an “attractive” person but there has always been a disconnect for me that I’ve never really felt with any of the other major players on DOOL. There’s something Ross-like (yes, a Friends reference:) about him that I just can’t get past and quite honestly I could do without him ever coming back and getting involved in an important plot line again. Bring back Shawn D. or Max or Philip or Nathan but not Lucas… AGAIN.
