When Tanya Boyd had to bow out of her scheduled return to Days of Our Lives, the show was left with the task of recasting the role of Celeste Perrault. After a casting call was sent out for a "gorgeous African American" actress, the soap has found her: Beverly Todd.
A veteran of nighttime and film, Todd has had an impressive career. She co-starred opposite Richard Pryor in Moving, worked with Whoopi Goldberg in Clara's Heart, and portrayed Morgan Freeman's wife in Bucket List. Todd also has a daytime credit on her resume. From 1968 to 1970 she played Monica Nelson on Love of Life.
Todd begins airing as Lexie's mom and Salem's eccentric psychic on April 3.

Beverly Todd is certainly beautiful, however, she looks more like Lexie’s sis, than her mom…gonna have to do some makeup ‘magic’…..
Beverly Todd is actually 5 years older than Tanya Boyd.
They are both very beautiful! Although I wish Tanya could have returned, Beverly will do a great job! I’m just happy the show is sill on.
I think if they could not get Tanya for the part then they should have refrained from bringing the character back. With the constant revolving door they have lately been shoving characters through lately this just seems unnecessary.
