Here's the latest comings and goings casting news from Days of Our Lives.
Backstage sources report that Joseph Mascolo is back at work at the show's NBC studios. It looks like there's another Stefano rises from the dead storyline on the horizon. Just hope the show's writers don't forget to include Stefano's famous comeback line into the script, when he finally resurfaces: "It's good to be back." Last time around, Mascolo had to ask to get the line added.
Caleb Hunt's gig as Andrew, the former photographer's assistant who kidnapped Melanie, is coming to an end. His final air date appears to be August 17.
As previously reported, two recurring characters will be back on the story canvas, after the show's two week break. Look for Aloma Wright to air as sassy nurse Maxine on August 17. Meanwhile, Brendan Coughlin is back as Will and Chad's pal, T, on August 20.

I have been watching Days since 1970 when I was in college.
I still have enjoyed the occassional passtime – checking in to see what is happening and I just was told by my daughter about the “possible plan for a Steffano come back”! For crying out loud! Neither of us will ever watch again if he does! Let the man rest in peace. If the writers are so inept that they cannot come up with something else, then they do not belong in the business.
My days’ passtime are about to end!
Well, I’m happy. I am super excited to hear this news. Now they can correct the mistake they made in making EJ someone else’s son. Stefano can swoop in, keep EJ from being rail roaded by the sorry, incompetent Salem PD, and tell EJ that he is in fact EJ’s father.
I can not wait. Yay Stefano!

I was really upset that they made EJ not Stefano’s son,but if EJ is John’s son and Stefano comes back, that may end up being a very promising storyline. That would really shake things up. I am very glad Joe is coming back. Things are not the same without him. I was afraid Ian was going to take his place as bad guy and that would not be the same. This is very good news to me, yay!!!

Ok I was obviously named after the character Kayla and my parents got married to the song rose my entire family for generations has always watched days. Now I just want to say that I wish Ian would leave Madison and Brady alone and that Kate and Stefano would get back together I don’t like Ian not one bit. And what happened to Chloe and Phillip and their child? And I would like to see Kayla and lexi’s husband get together why not through in a decent black and white couple that would be a new twist from gay to an interracial couple. And some serious twists and turns from the old story lines.
And yet again the Phoenix rises from the ashes but then it was expected. I, for one, am happy. Not sure why they are bringing “T” back. Keep the veterans!!

All the good characters are leaving! There will never be another Stefano. No one could compare to him and everything that he has done and everything he gets away from. I don’t like Ian too much- I really would LOVE to sami could be happy for at least 1 month with a guy and really show a happy family somewhere. There are only 2 sets of couples who have stayed together for many years, now the younger ones need to settle down just a bit. I am going to miss Malonie she is my favorite character and very well played for everything that she has been threw.

I want Stefano back as a counterweight to Ian’s ugliness. At least Stefano has some ingrained integrity to his madness. Ian has none and is just plain evil. John is NOT EJ’s father. If anyone has watched the show for any length of time – EJ was named after Elvis, because Stefano dressed like him when he got with Susan, EJ’s mother. This whole Alice Horton letter about EJ’s real father is probably a smoke screen from Ian and that’s why Stefano didn’t give it to EJ, didn’t rub it in EJ’s face, during the time that they were at each other’s throats for the last few months. Stefano set it up so that it looked like he was killed, EJ would be the prime suspect, and that would smoke out the real problem in Stefano’s life of the the DiMera’s. As for Melanie? I wish it were Gabi that were leaving she’s so ANNOYING. But leave the old characters in place PLEASE DOOL and also Sami/EJ and their family need to finally be together. She’s used everyone else as a shield and he’s been left with going to second string backups. Get Ejami together…its about time. Rafe with Nicole please. love them together. Good boy and bad girl. Especially as she’s carrying his kid.
I think it stinks. Why kill Stefano and then the new writers bring him back. Stop changing writers and driving fans crazy Sometime the story lines are rediculas. rah! rah! rah! the phoenix has risen again.. happy days of our lives ahead., all the dead weight is leaving the show now we can get down to business. hopefully gabi will be leaving soon after andrew tell the police what really happened. hopefully nicole doesn’t have another moscarriage. it will be good to see maxin again. hopefully brady will have a good story line after dead weigt madison leaves. hate to see go go but maybe this is just temperary. smile this is just how the days of our lives goes:)

Just when I was getting out of the habit of criticizing DOOL, I have to hear this. I knew this whole “Whodunit” storyline would fall flat….I’d be glad if he comes back, but I’m not looking forward to the half-assed storyline behind it. Or, hey…maybe he’s only returning in the form of dreams or flashbacks.
Well as long as we’re voting, I want Bo back! (and yes, I know he doesn’t even leave the screen till late October, but I still miss him and Bope already!!!)
Stefano’s return is just not that surprising to me. Like him or not, the Phoenix ALWAYS rises…just a matter of how long it takes. The only thing that would ever make me think he wouldn’t would be Joe Mascolo’s death. Even if he announced his permanent retirement, I’m not sure I’d be quite convinced.

Don’t kill off Bo, please send him away on an ISA assignment or something, maybe Shawn Douglas & Belle need his help. Then replace Peter (can understand his desire the be with his family) with someone else.

Is there any true fans who watch this show any more. l new E.J was not Steffano’s son the day they told us he was his son…lol. He alway’s was someone elses child. He has bine John Blacks child since he was sleeping with Susan who was playing the role of Kristen (and if they bring back Kristen that would be stupid, but if they bring back Susan… That could be a very cool story they could bring about). She left after she found out she was pregnant and Kristen drowned in the pool… Stefano hired her and she fell in love with John well he thought she was Kristen and so on, so on… Hopefully the writer’s can remember this story line….. And people Stepano has bine the best part of this show since 1982 so bringing back the phenix is well… it is what it is. l believe unless a contract is expired or a person wants off the show like Lexi did. The writer’s should never kill of a caracter or else you will get these stupid come back tale’s. And the funny thing is John is a DiMera so that still makes E.J a DiMera and will make a huge story line… the battles will be great!!! Writer’s pull up your pants and write story lines according to what the long time fans know are true and REAL… But hey l love this show anyway!!!!
To all lof you who put Joe Mascolo down for his age, keep in mind that he is still very robust and full of life and that Days would not be as illustrious without him. Joe pretty much self-created Stefano Dimera and has played him with fine expertise and a honed craft. Joe has had a career spanning both television and film, has also played classical music and does so much for charity. He is a truly kind and benevolent gentleman who has responded to me twice in personal emails when I wrote him via his website. He does not call us who truly appreciate him “fans”; he calls us “friends”. His mother and father lived to 109 and 100 years old and got to celebrate their 80th wedding anniversary. Not many people can claim that monumental occassion. Joe also has a street in GA named after him from some charity work he did there. He is anti-bullying and very tolerant and accepting of all walks of life. What some of you are doing is bullying and belittling a man without knbowing much at all about him. This is very sad for you. Bullying stems from ignorance. Joe was also a dear friend of the great Luciano Pavarotti. He and Luciano were in the film Yes, Giorgio. The link below is Joe’s website and his career bio. Now if EJ is John’s Son then that would make things quite weird cause remeber john’s father is santo Dimera and mother Colleen Brady and EJ has kids with samantha who is a brady cause roman is her father how could this outcome be possible unless backstories are changed.
Now Ian has been framing EJ and there was a scene while back where he had the pheonix emblem on his cane stick so there is some sort of connection there and he has quite bit of power and pull it seems. Perhaps he’s a DiMera?

I too love Stefano and am glad that he will be returning. I only wish Peter Reckell was not leaving. Can’t imagine how he is going to exit and what will become of Hope. Just won’t be the same without him. You will be truly missed Bo!
Age should have nothing to do with Joe Mascola s appeal. If we are lucky, we will live as long and be as productive and entertaining as he is. Sorry that Peter Reckell is leaving. Hopefully he will return someday soon. Still want Sami and EJ together no matter whose son he is. Have been watching days for many, many years. It is a fun break in the afternoon. It’s like reading a book but getting to see the characters. Some chapters we like and some we dont, but we keep turning the pages.

I’m glad that Stefano returns. I actually miss the “returnings from the death”. We haven’t gotten a lot of those in pretty many years now.

I am so very happy Stefano is rising from the ashes! I have loved him for many years, ever since i started watching DOOL together with my mom. He makes an amazing villain and he’s a big part of the show. When Stefano dies “for real” it should be because Joe wants to retire, not because he’s written off the show for no good reason. He’s a great actor and he has contributed alot to DOOL with his wonderful portrayal of the Phoenix. He deserves that much. And I hope EJ will stay Stefano’s son, though i’m neutral about the “State” relationship. Kate is quite a woman and they had some very good scenes.. i’m just not a big fan, that’s all. I always prefered his twisted obsession with Marlena and Celeste as his confidante/henchwoman/mistress over a “State” marriage. I don’t feel Stefano should be married..
Anyway a big YES to Stefano returning to DOOL! Looking forward to his first scenes. Bring it on!

Stephano is back. Now he has an opportunity to make things right with EJ, Kate, the grandchildren and finally give in to the idea that EJ loves Sami. Kayla/Abe are a good mix for the show. We may finally get to see Joey. Miss Steve. I have been part of the Horton/Brady family since the beginning. Tom, Alice, Addie, Doug, Julie, Bill, Mickey, Maggie, Hope, Bo, etc. ‘KEEP ON AMAZING US DAYS” (So happy that Ian/Madison are gone).
I don’t think that I will be watching Days after Peter Reckell’s departure in October. He has always been my favorite character, even when he was with Carly. I have been watching Days since 1965, and have seen many a character come and go. Nothing has impacted me like this exit, because of the reason for it. What is wrong with you Ken Corday? Certainly you could have shown more respect and valued Peter’s request. You have really imbalanced the Brady duo of Hope and Bo. There is no other couple like them. Robert Kelker Kelly was not a successful replacement for Peter before, so if you think you are going to try again, it spells FAILURE.

I have been a loyal fan since 1965. I have seen many a character come and go, but Peter’s exit has really impacted me because of the way it happened!!!! What is wrong with you Ken Corday? You needed to show more value and recognition for Peter’s multiple years of devotion to the show and to his character BO.
There will be no more Brady duo of Hope and Bo, unless you are thinking of a replacement. The last one, Robert Kelker Kelly was not successful and any choices you might make only spell FAILURE to me. Kristian and Peter have a magical chemistry that you can not replicate.

I have watched Days since 1984 and I have to say, that with the Character of Bo coming to an end…the show will never be the same! There is such Chemistry there between Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso! What will happen to Hope without Bo? Devastating! It sure is a great thing that John and Marlena will continue! I hope Drake and Deidre stay, like Frances Reid and Mac Carey did! As for the characters of Melanie and Madison, I wish they would continue, as well! There is great chemistry with Brady and Madison and also with Chad and Melanie! Sarah and Molly do a great job making their characters believable! It’s these story lines and combination of characters and those who portray them, that keep me watching!

Thank goodness foe Stefano coming back and the Jack story line was b.o.r.i.n.g. Should have done more with the PTSD if they were going to keep him around. I was kind of liking the new bad guy (ian) but hey, as long as Stefano is coming back who cares right? Sorry to see Bo go but to be honest, their story was getting a little week too. It’s daytime DRAMA for a reason!

Annie me too i can’t wait to see Stefano again he is a good guy an CIA agent and i agree with so called SPD and ISA they did tampered CIA case and evidence and false imprisoned him they have no proof who tried to kill them they did not investigated who did it same thing to EJ in his murder also why is spencer working with the governor for is he corrupted like SPD or screwing them they also did not investigated his murder i love to see their faces and reactions to see Stefano in salem again and be in custody of the mayor

Love Stefano! Seventh son of a seventh son. I wish EJ would fire Rafe and discipline Roman before he’s no longer the mayor. I want EJ and Chad to start acting like DiMeras!!!. Chad needs to make Gabi pay for what she did to Melanie. He needs to let everyone in Salem know (especially Rafe) that she is a criminal instead of handling it by himself. Rafe is always so ‘by the letter of the law’ how would he deal with handcuffing Gabi and hauling her off the the station?

so when is Stefano coming back? Surely those couple of days wasn’t it. I need me some Stefano! Days is so boring right now that I may have to give it up for a couple of months and then check back. When is Nicole due? Unless this is a ‘premie’ the months between EJ and Sami having sex and Rafe and Nicole finding out and supposedly having revenge sex was months apart. Rafe’s big problem with Sami was her not telling him for all those months. He and Sami even had another wedding meantime! Won’t anyone notice if the baby is born 2, 3 or more months early? If it is a premie, then EJ will find out soon as it will probably have health problems…..
chad needs 2 go find melanie, gabi and will back together, little jack should be showing up, john and marlena could leave again always loved carrie, but not this last round, and austin looks sick to me, so thin. i’m like u annie, i’ve got to where I only watch couple times aweek or every other week. jennifer looks awful pale. wish mike horton would come.

What is he always given chances of returning all the time. I think he should stay dead. Give the younger generations some chances to go show. I would like to have Rafe some happiness. Bring in someone that is also an in Police business. Im tire of Dimairas all these centuies. Come on!! Bring some excitements and interseting stories on Days, I’m like some of these fans, I missed Melanie, Carrii, and Madison. I’m also tire of Sammi’s love story line too. You writer, you make Sammi like, she ‘s the only one for all those men.
I don’t like the Will and Sonny story line. I think Days is going to far
with this. There are alot of older fans that may stop watching because
of this. There are people that are home and and the nursing homes
that live day by day just to watch these soaps. I have been a Days fan
for a long time, I grew up with this show. I don’t like this with Will and Sonny at all. I record it so I can fast forward through there love scenes.
Days please stop this, I love Days but this is to much. And please let
