Ever since Days of Our Lives' Eric started waking up in a cold sweat, it's been clear there's something major troubling the poor priest. But what is it? Greg Vaughan shares some details about Eric's big secret.
"We're going to learn where Eric has been over the past 12 years, and we're going to discover something that led him down the path to the choices that he's made," explains Vaughan. "There's depth behind his choices that have resulted in the collar."
Is this "something" viewers will soon discover traumatic?
"That's a great assessment," says Vaughan, noting that he learned the details before shooting the pivotal scenes.
Before that, "I had created my own journey as to what was going on," notes Vaughan. "I was kind of reading between the lines of what was being half informed to me. I had to do a lot of building and creating."
But all that stopped, when Vaughan was filled in on Eric's back story.
"It was kind of whispered in my ear," recalls Vaughan. "And it was like, Wow! Another light went on. It was like, Wait. Let me apply this."
When it all plays out on screen, Vaughan believes "it's going to be really eye-opening for a lot of people."
