The Parent Trap
When William Reed Roberts (now, Horton) was born on November 16, 1995, everyone believed Austin was his father, thanks to Sami, who doctored his hospital records and lied to everyone about his paternity. In time, his Aunt Carrie exposed the truth: Lucas was his real dad. The revelation left poor Will in the middle of numerous custody battles between his parents.
Despite his tumultuous upbringing, Will grew up to be a kindhearted kid, overcoming the challenges of being alcoholic Lucas and conniving Sami’s son. When his parents finally stopped fighting and starting realizing they actually loved each other, Will supported their union wholeheartedly. He was thrilled when Lucas proposed marriage, and Sami accepted. But the couple’s attempts at making it down the aisle were thwarted twice by Lucas’s meddling mom, Kate, who schemed to keep them apart. Will was devastated and lashed out at his mother.Bait and Switch and Switch Back
Fortunately, Austin and Carrie arrived in town to help Will through his disappointment and help his parents move forward. In time, Carrie started dating Lucas and they eventually married, while Austin planned to wed Sami. Although his parents weren’t together, Will was content. However, everything fell apart when it was revealed that Sami manipulated the situation to keep Austin and Carrie apart. Austin dumped Sami, and Carrie divorced Lucas, so they could reconcile. Sami and Lucas were left alone, and Will was left angry and embarrassed by his mother’s latest screw up.
Will, however, was pleased when Lucas decided to move into Sami’s apartment to give him a more stable home life. The situation helped Lucas and Sami reconnect and soon they were engaged and planning another wedding. Only this time it actually happened, and Will was overjoyed. Yet, the Brady/DiMera feud would weigh heavily on Will’s newly reunited family.
