Max and Steph later re-enter the pub after visiting Pop’s grave. Steph admits to feeling much better and can feel his presence watching over them, referring to Grandpa Shawn as a guardian angel.
In Bo’s room, Kayla sits beside her brother as Nurse Maxine orders Bo to relax. After Maxine leaves the room, Bo gets out of bed with the intent of finding Hope before Steve’s crazy ex-girlfriend stalker does something. Kayla refuses to allow him to risk his health or his life. Bo complains about sitting around on his butt doing nothing. Kayla insists on going to look for Steve and Hope herself. Bo refuses to allow this, since she can’t risk her health with the baby. The siblings continue to argue over who’s going after Steve and Hope. They conclude that all they can do is sit on their butts until they’re officially discharged. Bo is worried about what might happen when Ava finds out that Hope isn’t Kayla. Kayla suggests calling the police, but Bo states how adamant Steve was about that idea. He knows someone who might be able to help them out and makes a phone call.
Victor later arrives and gives Bo and Kayla the scoop on the dangerous Vitali family. He reveals that they are the mob and the father has been indicted numerous times but has never been convicted. He refers to the Vitali’s as “old school,” meaning they have a very unorthodox way of doing business, such as torturing their own men. “I mean they put hits out on rivals just for shock effect,” explains Victor, who warns them that the family is very powerful, very dangerous, and very deadly. Bo questions if he knows anyone on the inside who might talk. Victor implies that people who work for the Vitalis don’t tend to “leave the fold.” “If they did leave, chances are they would not be inclined to talk,” surmises Victor. “Why not?” questions Kayla. “Because they’d probably be dead,” replies Victor. Bo and Kayla are horrified to hear this.
Victor advises Bo to turn down the case if he’s assigned to it. Bo agrees to give it some thought and thanks him for stopping by. He realizes that Steve was right, since the Vitali family most likely has someone in the force. He concludes that the only thing he can do is handle it on his own. Kayla balks at this idea, insisting that it’s way too risky. Bo tells her to save her breath, as he’s made up his mind. Kayla fears that he could get himself killed. Bo is more worried about what might happen to Hope if Ava finds out she’s a cop. Kayla agrees to let him go if she goes with him. Bo refuses to allow this, as it would be far too dangerous for her and the baby. They continue to bicker before Maxine enters and gives them good news, in that they both may be able to go home soon. She asks Kayla to go back to her room so Bo can get some rest. Outside Bo’s room, Kayla’s determined to find Steve and Hope together with Bo. Bo slowly gets up and is determined to find his Fancy Face.
Angelo escorts Steve and Hope inside Ava’s room, which has a romantic setting. Ava emerges dressed in a seductive black dress. She says they’re going to have an intimate evening together while “Kayla” watches. “You’ve gotta be kidding me,” remarks Hope as Ava puts her paws on Steve. Steve kisses Ava as Hope watches. Ava asks him if it brings back memories and implies that they have all night to catch up. Hope fumes how crazy Ava is as Angelo tells her to be careful. Ava warns her to behave, otherwise something may happen to “Kayla” and her unborn baby. She tells Steve to sit and orders Angelo to give “Kayla” a seat. Angelo handcuffs Hope to the chair. Ava thanks him and tells him to go away. She pours a less than thrilled Steve a shot and makes a toast to their future. Steve then sees a slide of him and Ava in Vegas. She professes to love him just as much now as she did back then. She displays another slide of her father’s cabin when they were fishing. She snuggles next to him and reminisces how he made love to her six times that night, then asks “Kayla” if he’s ever made love to her like that. A peeved Hope doesn’t answer. Steve gets up and doesn’t appreciate her little slideshow, then accuses her of trying to make his wife jealous. Ava coyly admits it was part of the intention, but insists that it was mostly to remind them how good they were together. Steve affirms that dragging his past in front of “Kayla” and having a man follow Stephanie isn’t the way back to his heart. Ava claims she’s only having Stephanie followed as a precaution. Steve reveals that he has a man following her too. “Not anymore,” says Ava. Steve grabs her arm and demands to know what she’s talking about. Ava reveals that she had her men pay his guard off. Steve warns Ava that every time she threatens his wife or daughter, their chances of reconciliation slips further away. A shaken Ava apologizes and realizes that she’s going about the situation all wrong.
Ava continues their slide show and displays one of their first kiss, right after Steve completed his first job. She marvels how she knew from the first kiss that she loved him and flashes back to getting amorous with him. Steve was reluctant at the time to make love with her, since she’s the bosses daughter. He admits that if her daddy wasn’t in the picture, he wouldn’t hesitate. He then leaves, assuring her that if it’s meant to work out then it will. Ava comes back to reality and assumes that Steve is remembering. She then flashes back to another amorous moment with Steve. During this moment Steve professed his love for her. Steve pretends to be moved by Ava and kisses her. Hope begs him to stop and tells him to look in his back pocket. He discovers a sonogram picture, which infuriates Ava. Hope implores him to think about what he’s doing, recalling how Stephanie grew up without her father. “You want the same thing for this child? This child that I’m carrying?” asks Hope. “I’m sorry Kayla. This is where I belong,” he claims. Ava buys his act and kisses him as he holds the sonogram photo.
