Meet the Real Kayla Johnson

By , About.com Guide

At the DiMera mansion, Sami paces the floor with a baby monitor. EJ emerges after settling Allie down. Sami can’t figure it out, noting how Allie skipped a morning nap and was so fussy in the afternoon. On the other hand, Sami says Johnny can sleep through anything. She relays how Allie’s nurse believes she’s teething. EJ thinks it’s a bit early to be teething and would like to think that Allie misses him, noting how he has a way of putting Allie to sleep. Sami expresses appreciation for everything EJ has done, but reminds him that Allie is Lucas’s daughter. EJ wonders how many times she has to tell him that. Sami doesn’t want Allie to be dependent on him. He implores her to spill what has her so upset. Sami rehashes how Lucas is in prison for God knows how long. She is also upset that Marlena has to go on a soul-searching trip. She complains how she’s living in “this creepy house with the next generation of the evilest family that ever hit Salem. John appears and tries to assure Sami that he and Elvis are hardly on the same side, stating that his nephew is working for the enemy. “Mickey Horton, eh? Since when did you have an issue with him?” questions EJ. John claims he doesn’t, although one of EJ’s clients interests him. EJ assumes he’s talking about Nicole Kiriakis. “Well, she definitely is a low-life slut who’s never met a man or a wallet she didn’t like,” jeers Sami. EJ wonders why John takes issue with him representing Nicole. John refers to it as no loyalty, since he’s siding with a Kiriakis. EJ suggests that if John knew a little more about his client, he’d have less of an issue about the case. John believes that working for a Kiriakis presents a conflict of interest for the DiMeras. Sami hears Johnny crying via the baby monitor and leaves the room.

EJ affirms that Nicole is a Kiriakis in name only, and may have more of a grudge against Victor than John does. John confronts EJ about Nicole living in the mansion. EJ confirms that he got a court order which guarantees Nicole access to the Kiriakis premises. John refers to EJ as a resourceful attorney. EJ reminds John that he should know what it’s like getting access to property. “After what my half-brother and your father did, he owed me,” rehashes John, who wants to hear more about the Kiriakis divorce. EJ refuses to divulge anything, noting that he’s bound by a law that honors the privacy of his client. Sami re-emerges and refers to Nicole as the most indiscreet person she knows. “I still can’t believe, that you are going to take her case,” expresses Sami. EJ affirms that he’s taking it. “Actually, I haven’t decided if I’m going to let you,” states John. Sami notes that someone is finally making sense. A confused EJ wonders why John thinks he has any say in the matter. “Since I’m the head of this family,” affirms John. “Who do you think you are? Tony Soprano?” jokes EJ. John seriously wonders if he’s related to Tony Soprano. EJ says no and affirms that John has no say in any matter. John points out that EJ lives under his roof and is enjoying his hospitality. EJ proposes that he and Sami take the twins and go, as he refuses to have his life dictated to him. Sami refuses to leave the house tonight, admitting that she doesn’t trust EJ for making a bad judgement call by taking up with “that slut Nicole Walker.” EJ defends Nicole and simply states that she’s his client. Sami fumes how Nicole’s a black widow, and sooner or later EJ will get sucked in by her. EJ reminds her that the only reason he took her case is so he could provide for his family. Sami points out that they don’t have any money, he hasn’t been paid yet, and they have nowhere to go, so they can’t just leave there tonight.

“I guess you’re not a fan of Nicole Kiriakis,” assumes John as EJ pours himself a drink. EJ and Sami both inform John how Nicole dated Eric, then dumped him for Lucas so that Lucas could keep custody of Will. Sami recalls how Kate paid Nicole to marry Lucas and dredges up how Nicole drove Lucas into becoming a raging alcoholic while they were married. EJ states that Nicole told the story a little bit differently, rehashing how Sami lied on the stand about Lucas hitting Will. “That is not how it happened,” sneers Sami. John doesn’t sense a forgive and forget attitude. Sami vows never to forgive Nicole and brings up how her enemy was obsessed with John’s son Brady for a long time. As far as she’s concerned, everything that happened between her and Nicole is Nicole’s fault. “And I will never understand, why you are willing to help her,” adds a peeved Sami. EJ excuses himself to attend to one of the crying twins while John offers to arrange a nanny for her “rugrats.” Sami thanks him, but prefers to look after them herself, rehashing how Stefano wanted to raise Johnny as his own. John suspects that she feels trapped living there with EJ and him. Sami stares at him with confusion and notes that for a second he sounded like the old John, since he figured out that she feels trapped. She admits that she’ll feel better when her mom is home from her trip. John assures her that she has nothing to worry about, in that she and her children are safe in his house. He questions if Marlena talked to her before she left. Sami replies that her mom didn’t have much to say, except that she had to go. She insists that Marlena needs time alone and needs time to think, rehashing how Marlena buried him and now he’s not the man she’s been in love with all these years. John wonders what sort of conclusion Sami believes that Marlena will come to. Sami has no idea and wishes he would stop messing with her head, then excuses herself to go check on the twins.

As EJ later packs up his briefcase, John asks to have a word with him and has reconsidered allowing him to take Nicole’s case. He shares his suspicions that Sami is jealous of Nicole, which is probably why Sami is so against him taking Nicole’s case. “Never say I don’t look out for my family,” says John.
