At the police station, Philip informs Abe that Chloe should be boarding a plane to Zurich right now, as she sailed right through security. Abe suspects that Chloe will lay low for a while, since shes just been cleared as a suspect in Bradys disappearance. Phil credits Abe for getting the Austrian consulate to drop all charges. Philip briefly excuses himself to answer his phone while Roman comes back from processing Avas paperwork. He then fills Roman in on Victor framing Chloe for Bradys disappearance and wants to make sure she cant press charges. Abe reveals that theyve been in touch with Brady, who refuses to testify against his grandfather. Philip is relieved to hear this, since the last thing his family needs is a scandal. Roman says they have nothing to charge Victor with, as theres no proof of criminal liability.
At the pub, Sami calls her mom to tell her about Brady, but is unable to get a hold of her. She cant figure out why Nicole would say that Bradys a drug addict, referring to the whole ordeal as ridiculous and embarrassing. EJ encourages her to get back to some of their questions in order to take her mind off of it. They go over her favorite perfumes before EJ quizzes her on boxers or briefs. Sami doubts immigration will ask that type of question. He brings up the time they were trapped in the steam room together last year, so she should know. She recalls how she was nine months pregnant and he got himself electrocuted, so his underwear wasnt exactly the first thing on her mind. EJ then gets her to admit that he had blue boxers with a monogram on them. Sami rushes up to Marlena when she and John enter, anxiously revealing that Brady has been found and is alive. Victor arrives and wonders what all the excitements about. An ecstatic Marlena gives him the good news. EJ takes a call from Mickey as Sami confronts Victor about stashing Brady in a rehab clinic and framing Chloe for his disappearance. Victor claims he did what was best for his grandson. Sami berates him for only caring about getting his little revenge while Marlena was sick with worry. Victor informs them that Chloe introduced Brady to the low-lives that got him hooked on drugs. She deserved to suffer, says Victor. Marlena vows to bring Brady home and take care of him. John confronts Victor about taking over his job as Bradys father. You played God with my son. Thats another mistake, Mr. Kiriakis, warns John. Victor affirms that Bradys his grandson. Philip arrives and requests to speak to Victor.
Philip informs his father that he just came from the police station, where he wanted to make sure that Chloe couldnt press charges against him. Since when is it against the law to save your grandsons life? retorts Victor. Philip confronts his father over not telling everyone the truth and setting Chloe up to make her look guilty of foul play. Victor insists he was protecting his grandson. Philip points out that it wasnt Chloes fault that Brady got himself hooked on drugs, as she was trying to help him. Victor affirms that everything he did was in his familys best interests. Philip wonders if his father cared about Bradys other loved ones who were terrified that he might be dead. Victor claims it couldnt be helped and was respecting Bradys wishes by not telling anyone about his addiction. Respect. Now theres an interesting choice of words, notes Philip. Victor professes that his love for family knows no bounds. Well maybe thats your problem. Boundaries dont exist for you, surmises Philip.
As Marlena and Sami chat at a table nearby, John receives a call and is summoned to the police station by Roman and Abe. Marlena offers to go with him and thanks Sami for the great news about Brady. Philip watches John like a hawk as he leaves, then alerts Victor to the situation. The men suspect that it has something to do with Paul taking bribes from him. Victor offers to accompany Philip down to the cop shop, but Philip says hed rather handle it alone.
Back at the Salem P.D., Paul tells Morgan that she doesnt have to be there for his questioning. Morgan refuses to go anywhere until they have the so-called mistake cleared up. Roman suggests that Morgan wait outside. Oh, so you can take the rubber hose to my daddy? Make him confess for something he didnt do? snarks Morgan. Abe jokes how they havent used a rubber hose and bright lights in quite some time. Abe warns him that they have enough evidence to charge him with graft. Plus, Homeland Security is interested in the possibility that he enabled illegal and potentially dangerous shipments through customs under his watch. Morgan urges Abe to show them the evidence. Roman offers to cut Paul a deal, in that they will agree to drop the impending charges if he fingers John Black for the graft.
John and Marlena join the party at the police station. Roman then briefs John on Paul being a customs official who cleared container shipments. John praises Paul in front of Abe and Roman and denies knowing anything about the Kiriakis shipments. He lies through his teeth about bribing Paul, then congratulates Paul for his diligent work. Abe notes that the old John wouldnt be throwing an attitude in their faces. Roman then asks Philip what hes doing back. Im here in the interest of Kiriakis shipping, affirms Philip. John counters that Phils there because hes the one who ratted out Paul. Philip wonders if Johns admitting Pauls guilt. John claims that he and Paul are clean and just trying to make a living for their families. Paul reveals to John that the cops offered him a deal if he fingered John. After Paul exits, Morgan confronts Philip for going after her father, then storms off. Philip goes after her. John then appears to have a brief flashback as he sees the name Roman Brady. Marlena approaches him and wonders whats wrong. John claims hes just thinking about how disappointed Philip must be that his scheme blew up in his face. He wonders if Roman has some real criminals to chase after rather than him. A disgusted Marlena follows John out of the office.
