Anna finds John at St. Lukes, where she reveals that Stefano is awake. John suggests that he and his brother have some catching up to do. Anna whines how the sound of Stefanos voice makes her blood run cold, and she wishes she never had to talk to him again. Not to worry, responds John. Thats easier said than done for Anna, who warns John what Stefanos capable of. John changes the subject back to Blondie. Anna recounts how she left Marlena messages and went over to her place, but has no idea where she could be. Perhaps I do, says John. Anna follows him out of the church.
John and Anna later arrive at the mansion and look for Marlena, but come up empty-handed. John calls for Rolf, but he doesnt answer. Anna suggests that Rolf got scared and left town because he heard that Stefano was awake. John asks if shes sure Blondie wasnt in her townhouse. Anna babbles how she rang the doorbell, knocked on the door, and even called through the door, but no-one was home. Anna follows John out.
John and Anna come back inside, where Anna is incredulous that someone would cut Johns tires. Ill have to take the Ginsu knives away from Rolf, implies John. Anna wonders how Rolf could be helping Stefano. Because its in his blood, replies John. Anna asks John if he has another car in the garage, but John says E.J. has it. She suggests calling one of Tonys drivers, but John states that he has a bike. He comes downstairs and hands her a helmet if shes willing to go along for the ride. Anna reminds him that shes wearing heels and rambles on about calling a cab, following him out the door.
In Stefanos hospital room, Tony has a hard time believing that Marlenas responsible for his condition. Stefano refers to Marlena as a she devil." Tony refers to Stefano as a cold hearted psychopath. E.J. insists that they are just trying to understand how they can help Stefano. Stefano moans about the time hes lost and the horrors he went through with Marlena, trapped like a rat. He vows to destroy Marlenas life just as she destroyed his. Sami arrives in time to overhear and angrily demands to know what hes done with her mother. Stefano denies doing anything and claims hes incapacitated. Sami isnt buying it and reiterates her demand. Stefano admits hes very sad that she and Elvis are no longer married. Sami continues to insist that hes done something with Marlena and refuses to let him get away with it. Sounds like unfounded accusations, dont you think Samantha? interjects Tony. Sami yells at him to stay out of it. Tony berates Sami for spewing accusations at Stefano. E.J. tells him to back off and insists that Samis just worried about her mother. A furious Sami yells how she wont let him get away with whatever hes up to.
E.J. leads Sami out of the room, where she is incredulous that E.J. was defending Stefano. E.J. denies defending his father and insists that there is nothing to be gained by attacking him, since hes a sick man. Sick in the head! counters Sami. E.J. reminds Sami how his fathers been in a coma and was brought unconscious to the hospital. Sami surmises that Stefano had one of his minions kidnap Marlena. She wonders how he can even stand being in the same room with Stefano after everything hes done. E.J. implores her to let him handle Stefano calmly and carefully, instead of going in his room shouting and screaming. Sami theorizes that Stefano has done something and is up to some horrible plan, stressing how hes awake and talking. She is bound and determined to find out what The Phoenix is up to.
E.J. insists that he can handle his own father, but Sami argues that no-one has been able to handle him, ranting how death cant even stop him from hurting people. E.J. urges her not to panic. Sami fears that her mother is dead, knowing how obsessed Stefano has been with Marlena all these years. She proceeds to rush inside Stefanos room, but E.J. stops her and implores her to go find Marlena.
Meanwhile, Tony warns Stefano that if anything happens to Marlena, the cops wont exactly have a long list of suspects. Stefano doesnt give a damn about lists. How about hurting innocent people. Do you give a damn about that? questions Tony. Stefano states that theres no such thing as innocent people, affirming his belief in an eye for an eye. An incredulous Tony argues that Marlena wouldnt hurt him. Stefano berates Tony for having the nerve to interrogate and admonish him. Tony yells how Stefanos always been one to wreck peoples lives when it just concerns himself. After all the sacrifices that I have made for you where is your loyalty? demands Stefano. What sacrifices? My loyaltys to myself, to Anna and our future! shouts Tony. Stefano rehashes how Marlena tortured him and injected him with drugs which were supposed to induce catatonia. We see brief flashbacks of this. I was trapped in my own body! recounts a horrified Stefano. He vows to make Marlena pay for what he did to him for the rest of her miserable life.
Tony continues to insist that Marlenas incapable of hurting Stefano. Stefano disagrees, reiterating that Marlena injected him with toxins. Tony wonders if he has proof, predicting that his word wouldnt be enough for a judge and jury. Stefano says he knows because Marlena told him what she was going to do step by step, then looked at him dead in the eye and injected him. He appears daunted as he recounts what Marlena did to him, expressing how he looked brain dead on the outside, but inside he was on fire. He shares how he remembers screaming in his head so loud that he thought his ears were ringing, referring to his past state as cruel torture. Tony puts his head in his hand as Stefano remembers hearing him, E.J., and Lexie going on and on about wanting to help him, but they sent him off to the hideous facility. Stefano states that hell doesnt even come close to how he felt all those months. Tony rehashes how he knows what hell is like, since Stefano sent him there. Stefano elicits his wicked laugh implying how the citizens of Salem have no idea whats in store for them now.
