Queen of the Night

By , About.com Guide

Tony and Anna follow John to the utility room, which controls the power to the entire floor. Anna whines about it being a 50-yard dash, reminding John that she’s wearing heels. Tony wonders which switch controls the ventilation. Anna does an “eenie-meeney-miney-mo and suggests which one they should try. Tony reminds her that she doesn’t even know how to jump start a car. “Well I know how to drive one,” grumbles Anna. She quips how she’ll just stand aside and paint her nails. Tony then mentions to John how ironic it is that Stefano’s reappearance has brought them together, as he was a source of their differences. He brings up how John helped himself to the entire DiMera fortune. John affirms that he didn’t take anything from Stefano, the entire empire just kind of “fell into his lap.” Anna suggests that they get back to the task at hand. John asks Tony if he’s jealous that Stefano cut him out of the will. Tony claims he’s upset over how John has handled his newfound power. The men continue to argue as Anna tells them both to stop it and set aside their differences. Tony agrees with Anna, in that this isn’t the time or place, but he’d like to resume the conversation again. John assures him that it will be his pleasure to set Tony straight. “Alright, fine. You guys wanna kill each other? See if I care!” rants Anna as she storms out. “Does she bring that kind of energy to the bedroom?” jokes John.

Tony approaches Anna, who complains how they are stuck in the creepy hospital and they’ve lost all communication, admitting how scared she is. She questions what it means for the two of them now that Stefano’s back. Tony reminds her of his wedding vows to her, assuring her that she’s the most important person in his life. She tells him that she loves him and encourages him to go back and help John, but no fighting.

Anna goes to Stefano’s room trying to find a clue as to what he’s up to. She becomes terrified upon hearing Stefano’s voice and screams upon turning around and seeing him standing there.

Stefano returns to Marlena’s room again and picks up the needle, assuming it’s an antidote. The sirens are heard as Stefano notes the police cars, reporters, and curious people outside. He mentions what a shame it will be that she can’t give a good farewell to her loved ones. He wonders if she’d like to say goodbye to John first. “Please,” she begs. Stefano strikes a nerve when he mentions how it’s too bad she and the new John are separated and how John was courting a mob princess, Ava Vitali. He then displays the broken disk which contains John’s memories. He refers to it as worthless, but an interesting souvenir. He states that John has moved on and suggests she do the same. “No, no,” she whispers. A taunting Stefano questions if it’s fair to ask John to put his life on hold to care for a paralyzed wife. He takes her hand and says it’s much better this way. “Bastard,” she gasps. Stefano warns her to choose her words more wisely and orders her not to say another word. She nods her head, conveying that she understands. He warns her not to do anything stupid while he goes to check on a “friend.”

Stefano returns to his room quipping how sorry he is that it had to come to this. We see an unconscious Anna.

Stefano enters Marlena’s room again and notes that she’s still awake, imploring her to go to sleep and close her eyes. Marlena looks around and doesn’t see Stefano there anymore. “Help. Help,” she whispers.

Tony goes back inside the utility room to help John, who asks Tony why Stefano tried to turn him into Robinson Crusoe. John guesses that Tony wasn’t quite up to par. He then asks how things are between him and Stefano these days. Tony says they don’t see things the same way, recalling how for many years Stefano was more interested in John. “He was probably busy turning me into his pawn, or so they tell me,” surmises John. Tony has a hard time breathing and explains how Stefano thought John was going to be his greatest weapon and going to do all of his dirty work. But then John fell for the only woman whom Stefano had truly loved: Marlena.

Tony states that when Stefano created his pawn, he didn’t believe that his pawn would have real feelings for anyone. He tells John that Stefano was jealous of him, Roman and anyone who was close to Marlena. He further explains that Stefano was a man used to getting what he wanted and thought he could make Marlena fall in love with him, but Marlena was in love with John and still is. Tony mentions how Marlena had such heartfelt words for John at his “funeral.” We see a flashback to October 2007 when Marlena was at John’s funeral expressing what he meant to her. Tony expresses how a part of Marlena died, but it was like she was reborn when she received the news that he was still alive. John flashes back to being in the lab when an emotional Marlena approached him upon finding out he was still alive. John appears affected by this, but says that the man whom Marlena’s looking for is gone and is not coming back.

John chooses to focus on trying to get some electricity. Tony yells how Stefano has finally gotten his revenge and how he’s finally defied John and Marlena. John says the last he checked, Blondie was still his wife. Tony asks him why he’s not wearing his ring and why he and Marlena aren’t living together. He expresses how Stefano has destroyed so many lives, including John’s. John claims he’s quite content with his life the way it is. “Oh really? So where are all your friends?” questions Tony. John insists that Tony needs to make a choice between the man who banished him to an island or someone who can give him a piece of the future. Tony states that there’s not going to be a future if they can’t work together and get the ventilation system to work. John assumes that Tony’s with him. “I knew you had no backbone,” announces Stefano. Tony hallucinates as he hears and sees Stefano, who accuses him of siding with the enemy. Stefano chastises Tony and says he’ll see him burn in hell. “That’s enough! You bastard!” roars Tony as he picks up a wrench to hit Stefano.
