I Don't Love the Man That You Are Now

By Gwen Morett, About.com

Bo and Hope are at the pub drinking coffee, where Hope says they have 48 hours to find out who’s responsible for Paul’s disappearance. Bo predicts that Philip will go to jail, and the real perp, John Black, will go free. Hope says it will be hard proving that John’s behind Paul’s disappearance, noting how good John is at covering his tracks. She warns Bo he could lose his badge if he can’t prove it. “So could you. You’re in this almost as deep as I am,” adds Bo. Hope suggests they just stay focused on their objective. She wonders where Philip is, since he’s supposed to meet them there.

Philip encounters Morgan outside the pub and asks how she is. “Not too good Philip. But then again you already knew that, didn’t you?” she coldly responds. Philip wishes she would believe him, despite what he said to Paul on the tape. She wants to know how he killed her father, reminding Phil that he’s a Kiriakis and not a man of idle threats. “You really don’t know me at all, do you?” asks Philip. “Apparently not,” sulks Morgan before she walks off.

Philip approaches Morgan and insists that if he didn’t care about her, he never would’ve told her what was on the tape. “You threatened to kill my father. This is not a game to me!” she asserts. Philip insists that he wasn’t playing her. She berates herself so being naive about everything, including her fantasy. A song plays in the background as Morgan has her fantasy of dancing with Philip.

Philip goes inside and meets Bo and Hope, stating that he needs to take responsibility for his mess. Hope excuses herself. Bo understands that his brother’s trying to do the right thing, but assures him that he’s got it under control. Philip warns Bo that being investigated by internal affairs for concealing evidence is just the beginning. Bo informs him that Roman, Victor, and Kate are the only ones who know what’s on the tape. A guilty Philip states how wrong it was for Victor to guilt him into making a decision. Bo assures Philip that he did what he thought was best, and it’s his responsibility for whatever happens. A woman approaches Philip and hands him a letter, which reveals that he’s been subpoenaed by the grand jury.

Meanwhile, Hope sits with Morgan, who states how she doesn’t like not knowing what happened to her father. Hope tries to assure Morgan that she and Bo are doing everything they can to try and find out what happened to her father. “Are you?” scowls Morgan. Hope assumes that she heard what happened at the church. Morgan fumes how Philip threatened to kill her father on the tape and doesn’t know what Philip’s capable of. “I mean after all, he IS a Kiriakis,” Morgan points out. Hope agrees with this, but affirms that Philip’s no killer.

Philip is later on the phone asking someone what his options are. Nearby, Abe reminds Bo that he has 48 hours to crack the case. Bo reveals that Philip was just served a subpoena by the grand jury regarding the warehouse fire and drug trafficking. Abe speculates that if the prosecution gets ahold of the tape, they could file possible kidnapping and murder charges.

Morgan sits with Hope and suddenly rushes outside calling for her daddy, believing she saw him. She frantically searches for her father and Hope follows her out. She insists that she saw him and he was looking at her right through the window, but now he’s gone.

Back inside, Abe asks Bo if Philip knows he has the original tape, but Bo implies that Phil doesn’t know. Bo believes if they could just find Paul, he would lead them to John and the whole mess would be over. Hope rushes back inside and alerts them that Morgan thinks she saw Paul. Philip overhears. A desperate Morgan continues to call for her father. Paul hides nearby. Abe, Roman, Bo, and Hope come outside, where Morgan adamantly insists that she saw her father and now he’s gone. She begs them to go find him and bring him back to her. Philip approaches Morgan, expressing how he hopes that Paul is alive and alright.

Chelsea sees Kate and Daniel sharing a close moment at the hospital and asks them what’s going on. Kate claims they were just talking about the lockdown situation. The tension is thick as Chelsea invites Daniel to sneak away with her for a little bit. Daniel likes the idea of dinner, but he has a board meeting at the hospital later. Kate excuses herself to get Philip out of there. Chelsea suggests meeting him at his place, then they can see what happens. Daniel agrees and gives her a quick kiss, along with his key.

John startles Marlena in her room and apologizes for upsetting her earlier. He assures her that he’s going to protect her from Stefano and wants her to come home with him. She says she can’t do that. John wonders what’s the problem. She explains how she had all these thoughts racing around in her brain in her previous condition and states the fact, in that he’s not the man whom she married. “The truth is, we barely even know each other,” she says. John admits that he realized how much he cares about her, and made a decision that things were going to be different between them. He confirms that Stefano made him a different person, and vows to make sure that the “new” John protects her like the old one did. “Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry. That isn’t what I want,” she laments. John doesn’t think she knows what she’s talking about. She affirms that she’s not under the influence of any mind-altering substance. John doesn’t understand, since all she’s ever talked about since he’s known her was how much she wants them to be together. “Since you’ve known me? Oh my gosh, John. I have loved you over half of my life!” she professes. John apologizes and says that’s not what he meant. An emotional Marlena snaps at him and states that he’s right, in that they just met recently and don’t even have that much in common. John rambles about the doctors needing to run more tests on her.
