Corruption Rocks Salem P.D.

By , About.com Guide

At St. Luke’s, the reporter from The Salem Spectator, Brad Baker, wants to know how Bo sleeps at night knowing he’s a liar and a disgrace to the Salem P.D. Roman wonders why Brad would call Bo a liar. “Corruption Rocks Salem P.D.,” announces Brad as he gets an idea for the front page of his paper. Caroline asks Bo what Brad's talking about and demands to know from Victor if he knew about this. John continues to lurk in the background. Abe demands for the reporter to tell him what’s so damn important that he’s interrupting the wedding. Brad accuses Bo of tampering with evidence in the Paul Hollingsworth case. Roman and Mickey caution Bo not to say anything, while Chelsea refers to Brad as a liar who just wants to sell papers. Caroline furiously demands to know from Victor and Kate what’s going on. Kayla asks Steve if he knows what it’s all about. Roman announces that there’s obviously been a misunderstanding, but Brad begs to differ and says he has proof. Brad refuses to reveal his sources, but suggests that Hope can help them out. He reads the anonymous email aloud that was sent to the police department in regards to the Paul Hollingworth case, suggesting a cover-up. Kate leads Victor out of there, which arouses suspicion in Caroline.

Brad continues to accuse Bo of hiding evidence in the Hollingsworth case. Abe yells over the commotion that it’s enough. He then implores the reporter to go down to the station if he has something to say. “Paul Hollingsworth is dead, and this man is protecting his killer,” declares Brad. Abe questions how he accessed the email. Roman asks if he hacked into the P.D.’s computer network, but Brad says of course not. Kayla asks Steve if it’s true. Brad reveals that there’s a tape recording which Bo got rid of. A guilty Bo gravely reveals that there was a tape. Abe takes Brad away. Bo tells everyone how sorry he is and admits that he made a bad decision and is willing to accept responsibility for it. Hope assures Bo that she loves him. Roman asks Bo if he listened to the tape. Bo says it doesn’t matter, since it’s gone. Roman questions if it was destroyed, which Bo confirms. He deduces that Bo is covering for someone, but Bo claims it was all him and is willing to accept the consequences.

Hope suggests to Bo that they go home. Roman affirms that Bo’s not going home, stating that his little brother knows the protocol. Chelsea protests against Roman arresting her father. Bo tries to assure Chelsea that he’ll be fine and tells her not to worry about him. Hope gives Bo a brief kiss. Mickey offers to go with Bo down to the station. Roman hauls Bo off and everyone follows them out of the church. John emerges from hiding and writes something down.

In Marseille, France, a cop drags Melanie to the police station as a woman named Tiffany accuses Melanie of stealing her bracelet. Melanie denies taking it, but Tiffany continues to hurl accusations and the cop just sits and takes it all in. Tiffany begins to search Melanie’s purse just as Max arrives and displays a bracelet. “Who are you and how did you get this?” questions Tiffany. Max introduces himself as Melanie’s brother and apologizes for the misunderstanding, insisting that it won’t happen again. Melanie puts on an innocent act. Max pulls Melanie aside and urges her to apologize to the girl, suggesting that if she shows a little remorse they might let her go. Melanie refuses to confess to something which she didn’t do. Meanwhile, Tiffany wants to press charges. “He’s the one who had the bracelet, not me!” exclaims Melanie as she points to Max. The officer then shoves Max and Melanie into the jail cell as Melanie yells that it wasn’t her.

Tiffany sulks how low Melanie’s actions were, then storms out. “Loser!” yells Melanie. “Nice going,” quips Max. Melanie claims that Tiffany’s just mad because her boyfriend left her for Mel. She calls for the officer and puts on a lame “poor me” act, claiming that her grandma died and she’s supposed to sing at the funeral tomorrow. The officer can’t release her until she makes bail. This infuriates Melanie. Max chuckles and gives her a round of applause, noting that she’s on fire tonight. Stephanie then arrives and wants to know what Max is doing in jail. Max implores her to bail them out and he’ll spill everything. “I’m not spending our last few Euros bailing out her sorry butt,” refuses Steph. Melanie ridicules Steph. Max implores Steph to help his sister out. Steph asks the officer how much to bail Max out. “What about the girl?” asks the officer. Steph declares that Mel can rot in there for all she cares. Max reminds Steph that Melanie’s his sister. Steph refers to Melanie as a spoiled, thoughtless brat and warns her that although Max may have his blinders on, Steph doesn’t. Melanie smiles how she and her brother have a bond. She demands a phone call from the guard. Steph doubts anyone will come to her rescue.

Melanie asks the officer to hand her the MP3 Player, but the officer refuses. Steph comes back and informs him that she doesn’t have enough money to bail him out. Melanie has an idea for fast cash, suggesting that Steph can hike up her skirt and hit the French boulevards. George soon arrives with bail money. Melanie refers to him as a rock star. Steph takes George aside and questions if their talk meant anything to him. George says it did, but reminds Steph that he can’t say no to Melanie. Steph urges him not to do this, predicting that Melanie will just keep using him. Melanie tries to coax George into posting her bail. “Don’t do it!” urges Steph.

The officer counts George’s money, then declares that Melanie made bail and she’s free. Melanie hugs her brother and says she’s sorry about all of this. “But I’m gonna miss you most of all, Scarecrow!” she dramatizes to the officer. Steph refers to Max’s sister as pathetic. After George and Mel walk out, Steph chastises the officer for letting her walk away like that. We then see Steph inside the jail cell with Max. Max asks the officer to work out a payment plan, but the officer turns him down and leaves them in there. Max and Steph yell and protest.
