Biography:

A born and bred California girl, Davidson is the youngest of seven children. She began her career modeling in Mexico City and California; then, branched out to commercials and print work in Europe.

In 1978, Davidson moved to Los Angeles to begin taking acting classes. After landing a couple of small gigs, she was cast in a starring role in the slasher film, The House on Sorority Row. Then, in 1982, she auditioned for and won the role of Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless.

After six years on the soap, Davidson left to pursue nighttime and film. In 1990, she landed a role on the primetime television series Broken Badges and starred in the movie Eternity with Jon Voight and Armand Assante.

She returned to daytime in 1991 to portray Kelly Capwell on Santa Barbara, a role created by Robin Wright. When the soap ended in 1993, she joined the cast of Days of Our Lives as Kristen Blake. The gig led to her portrayal of four other characters on the soap and earned Davidson a 1998 Daytime Emmy Award nomination as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. While an extremely rewarding experience, Davidson admitted the workload and long hours were tough. “Creatively, it was really great for me. Physically, it wasn't so hot," noted the actress, after leaving the show.

Davidson, however, wasn’t idle long. She returned to The Young and the Restless in 1999 and went on to play Ashley on The Bold and the Beautiful, too.

The ultra creative Davidson is also a published author. She wrote a series of mystery novels with Robert J. Randisi: Death in Daytime, Dial Emmy for Murder, Diva Las Vegas, and Swinging in the Rain. Davidson also created her own clothing line, Femmeology, which she founded with her niece, Devon Martt.

Davidson currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband Vincent Van Patten and their son, Jesse. She is also stepmother to Van Patten’s two sons, Duke and Vinny. When she’s not working, Davidson enjoys surfing, scuba diving, snow skiing, playing the piano and painting.
