At the Salem High reunion, Chloe tells Shawn about seeing Philip and Belle at the airport hotel together. She apologizes for the revelation. Shawn then marches over and confronts Belle just as Mr. Woods makes the announcement for ‘High School Sweethearts.’ Belle promises to explain everything to Shawn. Chloe takes the microphone and coaxes the tense couple to come up on stage and get their award. The newlyweds receive a round of applause. A smug Chloe puts Belle on the spot and asks them to describe what it feels like to be married to each other.
Philip steps into another room and is approached by Cynthia, who inquires about his married life with Belle. Phil gets defensive, which prompts the temptress to ask if he’s still hot for Belle. Philip tries to blow her off as Cynthia sarcastically wonders if Belle memorized the Kama Sutra.
Meanwhile, Susan asks Kevin if Belle looks as though she’s about to cry. An uptight Belle describes her wedding as beautiful and brings up how her dad died, then briefly reminisces over high school memories with her new husband. Mr. Woods presents Belle with a memento of a plastic cake with a bride and groom on top of it. Belle chuckles and claims that their daughter Claire will love it. Susan asks how old Claire is. Belle announces that she just turned two in September. Shawn and Belle joke how Claire will be a police officer just like her daddy. Penny snaps photos of them as they come off center stage. Shawn leaves to get some air. Susan hands Belle a card and encourages to call if she needs someone to talk to.
Jason approaches a less than receptive Philip and mentions the marquis in front of the school. He calls Penny “Jenny” and confuses her for a foreign exchange student. A perplexed Penny reminds him that they went to school together starting in Kindergarten. “You put a stink bomb in my locker in the 11th Grade,” she rehashes.
Across the room, Shawn has a flashback to telling Philip to leave Belle alone before engaging in a brawl with him at the pub. Cynthia brings him back to reality and wonders if his royal highness is shining her goody two shoes. He blows her off, which prompts her to walk out. Belle approaches Shawn, who confronts her about meeting Philip in a hotel room.
Mr. Woods later announces that Kevin has made a generous donation to Salem High to pay for the new science lab. The crowd applauds Kevin as Cynthia notes to Susan how Kevin’s totally loaded now. “Get a life Cynthia!” replies Susan before walking away. Chloe approaches Phil and reveals that she told Shawn everything. During this time Mr. Woods presents an award to Philip for honesty and courage. Philip is livid.
“You’ve got three seconds to tell me the truth or I walk,” Shawn warns Belle. Belle confesses that she and Philip planted the gun which Shawn found behind the pub. Shawn is in disbelief. Belle proclaims that if Shawn found the gun, he would be the hero and a shoe-in for the academy. He assumes that she thinks he’s a total loser.
Meanwhile, the crowd applauds Philip to the stage while Cynthia tries to hit on Kevin. “Forget it Cynthia. I’m engaged,” reveals Kevin. Mr. Woods acknowledges Philip as a true American hero who spent two tours of duty fighting for his country. A modest Philip thanks everyone as they cheer him.
Shawn rehashes to Belle how it’s the third time she’s interfered on his behalf. He tells her to butt out and let him make his own mistakes. She apologizes as Shawn warns her that Philip’s gun was used in an attempted murder which the police won’t let slide.
After Philip’s standing ovation, Jason invites Philip to party with the gang later, but Phil passes. Philip approaches Chloe and demands to know what she told Shawn. She relays what she told Shawn, then rehashes how she was picked on in high school and felt as though she owed it to Shawn, who pushed her out of the way during the pig’s blood incident. He walks away to go find Belle.
Susan, Kevin, and Penny all hug Chloe before she proceeds to leave. Kevin invites her to join them at Java Café, which she accepts. Cynthia snaps a picture of the foursome, but the picture is ruined when Jason steps in. Kevin suggests they get a picture with Shawn and Belle, but Chloe discourages the idea.
Belle begs Shawn not to tell his dad the truth, but Shawn refuses to play along and be indebted to Philip. As Philip eavesdrops, Belle claims that Philip doesn’t expect anything from him. She begs Shawn to reconsider, since Philip could be arrested. Philip emerges and warns Shawn to put the phone down if he really cares about Belle, since she’ll be charged as an accessory.
At the pub, Steve tells Hope and Kayla that someone cut the brake line to their car, but when someone named Eddie started it up, the car ran for a few seconds and died. The ladies are perplexed by this. Steve then receives a call from Lucas and fills him in on the brake line incident. Lucas plays innocent as Steve suspects that Lucas knows who the culprit is. Bo arrives at the pub and speculates that the DiMeras are up to their old tricks.
The two supercouples sit down and Steve briefly describes the “ninja wannabe” he saw dressed in black. Bo suspects it could be one of DiMera’s goons, but Hope disagrees since the vendetta’s over. Steve rehashes how he held a gun to Stefano’s head on TV. The men proceed to check out the car. Bo asks Hope to call Billie and summon her down to the pub so he can talk to her about Lucas’s whereabouts the night of the shooting.
Bo and Steve check out his car outside as Bo states that whoever cut the brake line didn’t pull the wheel. Additionally, the culprit left a gas syphon. “Sloppy work for a DiMera,” notes Bo. “So, who wants us to think that the DiMeras are back in business?” wonders Bo
