At Lucas’s apartment, he berates his mom on the phone for her actions regarding Steve and Kayla’s car and quips how she’s one compassionate woman. After he hangs up on her, he finds his keys and opens the door to Billie, who reveals that she just got off the phone with Bo. “He wants to ask me where you were the night EJ was shot. Any idea why?” she confronts him. Lucas implores his sister to put Bo off for a couple of days, but she says she’s on her way over to the pub right now. Lucas predicts he’s toast, since Bo knows she stopped by the night of the shooting. Billie insists she needs to tell Bo the truth if he questions her about Lucas’s whereabouts. He assumes she’s going to sell out her own brother. She urges him not to justify whatever he did because he’s a victim. He admits his life would be easier if EJ was dead, but claims he’s not the one who shot him. “You really think I”d do something like that again, after everything that happened with Franco Kelly?” he rehashes. Billie asks him why he wants her to lie if he’s got nothing to hide. Lucas says because he’s a primary suspect and fears he’ll lose custody of Allie. They argue about his request for Billie to lie before Billie reminds her that Bo is her friend and the questioning regards an attempted murder. “I could be liable as an accomplice!” she warns Lucas. “I’m sorry I even asked you!” shouts Lucas. Billie tries to assure her if he didn’t shoot EJ, then things will be fine. She hugs him and professes to love him before she leaves.

At EJ’s apartment, he asks Sami if he can trust her and suspects that she knows who shot him. Sami denies knowing who shot him and claims how hard it was for Lucas to accept her “feelings” for her new husband. “Whoever shot me, either hates me or loves you. And I think Lucas tops both of those lists,” theorizes EJ. Sami insists that Lucas would never risk shooting him, since he’d be the number one suspect. EJ still speculates that Sami is keeping something from him. He refuses to believe that she’s not involved. “Have you lost your mind? I was trying to end the vendetta, not kick it up a notch,” she affirms. EJ still doesn’t believe her and reminds her how she mentioned that she realized her feelings for him when he was shot. Sami insists she has nothing to feel guilty about and asserts that she didn’t try to have him shot. He implores her to leave if she wants to, but she refuses. He rehashes how the last two times he’s been over to her apartment Lucas has had barely any clothes on. He demands that she live with him if she wants the marriage to work.

Sami then notes how he’s taken steps into turning his place into a nursery. EJ calms down and says he doesn’t want to separate Lucas from Allie. Sami expresses how she doesn’t want to separate the twins from each other. EJ jokes how his place looks as though it’s been decorated by a blind man. He encourages her to do whatever she wants to his pad. “Look, I’ll do anything for you. Just don’t make a fool of me,” he requests. Sami reminds him that he saw her feelings for him before she did. She then claims she’s exhausted and proceeds to take the twins and go home. “Samantha, this is your home,” he affirms. She agrees, but claims she has everything set up at the other place. “What I really want is for you to hold me in your arms again, like you did at the hospital,” he admits. She expresses sympathy as EJ wishes to be a complete man to her. He insinuates how he will only know how she truly feels in bed and how a kiss is a poor substitute. She kisses him before she proceeds to answer the door. It’s Lucas, who announces that everyone’s gone now. She requests to speak to him and tells EJ that she’ll be right back.

Sami slams the door to Lucas’s apartment and confronts him about Abe and Bo looking for a gun. Lucas claims there’s no gun in the house, then reveals that he had a gun locked up for protection in case the DiMeras got out of line again. She accuses Lucas of not caring about her opinion, but Lucas counters that she divorced him and married EJ, thus not caring about his opinion. She asserts that neither of them had a choice in the matter and begs him to tell the truth about why the police suspect that he has anything to do with EJ’s shooting. “Because they think I was at the church that night,” he cryptically answers. “Lucas, please tell me you didn’t try to murder EJ,” she desponds.

Back in EJ’s apartment, he eavesdrops on Sami and Lucas’s conversation. Lucas claims he didn’t try to kill EJ and lies that he was there the whole evening. Sami cries at the thought of Lucas going to jail. EJ suspects that Lucas may have an idea as to who tried to kill him. Lucas hugs Sami and advises her to be careful with EJ. Sami wonders where he’s going in such a hurry. He claims he needs to pick up a package at the warehouse before it closes. Sami coyly suggests he can wait until the morning as she nuzzles his neck, but a nervous Lucas claims it’s business stuff that can’t wait. EJ then makes a call to the delivery express company ready to pose as Lucas Horton.

Back at the pub, Hope and Kayla briefly discuss the reunion before Bo and Steve deduce that the brake job was done by an amateur. Hope tells Bo that Billie’s on her way and offers to give Steve and Kayla a ride home, while Bo waits for Billie. She tells Bo that she needs to talk to him about Shawn and Belle later, then leaves.

Billie later arrives at the pub. Bo tells her to inform him when she has something which ties Ford Decker to the campus rapes. Bo then shares his suspicion that Lucas is lying to him about where he was the night EJ was shot.
