Viva Mexico

From , former About.com Guide

Marlena sips coffee at Chez Rouge before having a flashback to John’s hit and run, then saying an emotional good-bye to him in the hospital with friends and family gathered around. Hope brings her back to reality and joins her, mentioning how Marlena was missed at “Gran’s.” Marlena chuckles how she was summoned over to the dry cleaners and how odd it was that the place was closed. She shares how a woman from the shop next door encountered her and told her that John is alive. Hope is bewildered by this and wonders who this woman was. Marlena reveals that her name was Crystal, who claimed to be psychic. Hope is skeptical and suspects that Crystal is a con artist preying on Marlena’s loss, but Marlena speculates that Crystal just sensed her loneliness. Marlena reveals that Crystal saw a saw a vision of a man in a forest, who was looking at his name on a plaque. She reminds Hope of the coincidence in regards to John and wonders how the psychic could’ve known that. Hope suggests she had an inside source. “I think he’s alive. I can feel it,” whispers Marlena. Meanwhile, Marlena senses someone nearby. Hope suspects a con game, but Marlena insists that the psychic’s concern for her felt genuine. Hope questions what Marlena would say if the situation was reversed. Marlena admits she would recommend professional help to Hope, then recalls how John would come to her in her dreams when he was in a coma. Hope suggests that maybe Crystal is working for the DiMeras, reminding her how Stefano would love nothing more than to pull little Johnny into the family. Marlena refers to Crystal as having an empathy, the same quality John had. Hope painfully reminds Marlena that John is gone. Marlena then has a flashback to her previous encounter with Crystal, who insisted that John is very much alive. Hope then implores a teary-eyed Marlena to go with her to check out the psychic.

At the Dimera mansion, Rolf enters the back door and alerts Stefano that their houseguest escaped and may have gotten through the tunnel. Stefano is furious and insists they need to find him right away.

A young boy encounters a mysterious hooded man outside, who catches the boy’s ball before handing it back to him. The boy appears spooked by the man’s presence and runs off. Stefano and Rolf later encounter the young boy, who points them in the direction where the hooded man went. Stefano hands him a reward and thanks him.

Stefano and Rolf later arrive back home, unsuccessful in their search for the missing houseguest. Stefano later gets on the phone, demanding that their houseguest be found. The mysterious guest then appears, then rushes off when Rolf mentions giving him a sedative. Stefano orders Rolf to lock the doors and windows and block off the tunnel, then urges him to zap the houseguest if he gets out of control. Rolf warns him that their houseguest could be very dangerous. “I’m counting on it Rolf. I’m counting on it,” smiles Stefano wickedly.

Marlena and Hope later return to the psychic shop, where Marlena knocks on the door and asks for Crystal. They are approached by a man, who reveals that the building is empty. Marlena begs to differ, since she was there on Christmas Day and spoke to Crystal. The man informs them that the building has been condemned. Marlena insists there was a psychic there who spoke to her about John. Hope believes her, but speculates that someone is playing a very cruel joke on her. She wishes to help Marlena solve the mystery. Marlena tells her what a good friend she is before they walk off together to put their heads together. After they leave, Crystal emerges.

EJ enters Lucas and Sami’s apartment with a GPS tracking system, which should be able to pinpoint Lucas and Kate’s exact location. While the tracking information downloads, he implores Sami to be ready to head out once they find Lucas and Kate. Sami questions why EJ has a sudden change of heart in wanting to help Lucas. “I’m not helping Lucas. I’m helping you,” he clarifies. They are interrupted by the GPS system beeping, which reveals that Kate and Lucas are close to the airport. Sami panics about the situation and proceeds to call her mom to see if she can baby-sit. EJ offers to stay with the twins and urges her to get going, Sami is hesitant to trust EJ with her children and suspects that he has some master plan with Stefano to take Johnny to Italy. EJ shares how he made it clear to Stefano that nothing happens without Sami’s permission. Sami is still suspicious of EJ’s motives nonetheless. He then implores her to call Marlena and hands her the GPS system before wishing her luck. Sami stops him from leaving. He admits he’s given no reasons to trust him. “And no reasons to believe you’ve changed,” she adds. EJ reiterates how he wants to be a good father to his son. Sami states that it still doesn’t explain why he’s willing to help Lucas. EJ suggests they call it a down payment for all the things he’s ever done to her. Sami scoffs at this. EJ insists to a skeptical Sami that he could’ve taken Johnny time and time again if he wanted to, but he didn’t. He urges her to call someone else she trusts to watch the twins and get a move on, since Lucas doesn’t have a lot of time. As he walks out the door, Sami gives him brief instructions regarding the twins and warns him that if he does anything to hurt her children, he’ll live to regret it.

In Kate’s car, she receives a call from Lucas, who is complaining about freezing his butt off in the trunk of her car and proceeds to let himself out. He emerges and urges her to get in the car and crank up the heat, then soon realizes that they’re at the airport. Kate reveals that Philip’s sending a truck, then it’s viva Mexico for them. Kate insists she’s going with him. “Why?” he asks. “Why? Because I love you and because I would do anything to keep you safe,” she replies. She admits she wasn’t sure if her Mexican contacts would be willing to deal with her. “Ah, peso talks,” surmises Lucas.
