Just outside the hall, Stefano insists to EJ that he should be at the mansion allowing Rolf to monitor his condition instead of coming back to his apartment building. EJ proceeds to wheel over to Sami’s apartment and surprise her.
Meanwhile, Sami and Lucas get amorous on the couch. He proposes they seize the moment. They are unfortunately interrupted by a persistent knocking on the door. Sami insists she needs to answer as Lucas grumbles how it better be someone she can get rid of. She freaks out when she sees Stefano through the peephole and urges Lucas to button his shirt, but Lucas does just the opposite. She opens the door and is startled to see EJ in a wheelchair, who announces that her husband is home. The two rivals for Sami aren’t the least bit thrilled to see one another. Sami is startled that her new husband is out of the hospital. Stefano asks where “Gianni” is. Lucas clarifies that his name is Johnny. Sami offers to bring Johnny over to EJ’s apartment later. Lucas tells both of them to get out. EJ asks Stefano to let him handle the situation. Stefano complies to his request and briefly excuses himself. EJ vows to not let Stefano or anyone else for that matter take their son away from them. Sami agrees to let EJ see Johnny and goes into the bedroom. EJ affirms to an annoyed Lucas that Sami is now his wife who lives in the apartment across the hall with him.
A sexually frustrated Lucas puts his shirt back on as Sami brings Johnny out to EJ and Stefano, who both hold him and marvel over how big he’s gotten. Stefano holds him and proceeds to take him across the hall with EJ. A nervous Sami hands EJ a bag of baby supplies and offers to come with the DiMera men, but EJ encourages her to stay with Lucas. After they leave, Lucas scoffs how sick it makes him watching Stefano put his slimy hands all over Johnny. Lucas complains how EJ always has a knack for showing up at the wrong moments. A conflicted Sami doesn’t know what else to say except that she’s now EJ’s wife. He remarks how all of a sudden he’s the odd man out. Lucas looks across the hall and predicts that Stefano is probably planning the boy’s future as they speak. Sami then proceeds to head over next door to lay down some ground rules with the DiMera men.
Back in EJ’s apartment, a giddy Stefano holds Johnny as he and EJ marvel in delight. Sami peers through the door and witnesses the DiMera men bonding with Johnny. Stefano proposes taking the boy to Italy. “You are not taking my son to Italy, or anywhere else! Do you understand?” interjects Sami.
Sami later holds Johnny and reiterates her demand. Stefano claims he has no intention to take the boy from his mother and only wants the three of them to enjoy life together in his villa overlooking Florence, Italy. “We’re not moving to Italy!” asserts Sami. Stefano implores Sami to consider the possibilities. Sami puts her foot down and declares that her son is staying in Salem, end of discussion. She then asks if EJ has a crib set up and walks into the bedroom. Stefano warns EJ that Sami is going to be a problem and offers to take care of Sami in his own way if EJ’s not up to handling her.
EJ later checks out the contents from the diaper bag before Sami emerges from the bedroom and informs EJ that she changed Johnny’s diaper and he should be down for the count. He asks her to bring his bag over, then asks her to fetch him a glass of water. She agrees, then suggests that Johnny stay with her tonight, since he just got out of the hospital and there’s a lot to explain about caring for a newborn. He playfully throws a stuffed animals at her and invites her to stay at his place instead.. She appreciates the offer, but states that she has Ali to consider. He eagerly includes Ali for the sleep-over, but Sami declines. A guilty Sami advises him to consider hiring a nurse. A jovial EJ takes her by surprise and pulls her into his lap and claims he doesn’t need a nurse since he has her. Lucas walks in on the playful moment and isn’t the least bit thrilled by what he sees.
