Karmic Responsibility

By , About.com Guide

Sami rants and complains that he called her up to tell her that while she’s stuck there and doesn’t get to see her family or friends. E.J. fills her in on the conversation he had with Stefano about Nicole and the baby. Sami asks if he’s gotten over her. E.J. recalls how Sami made it abundantly clear that they share a child together, but don’t belong together. “No, but you belong with Nicole, the town slut,” she retorts. E.J. tells her not to speak about Nicole like that. Sami argues how Nicole tricked him into getting pregnant with his child so she could trap him. E.J. denies this as being true. Sami tells him to go back to his trashy girlfriend and celebrate ruining his life. E.J. suspects that Sami actually gives a damn. “Why wouldn’t I give a damn, E.J.? You’re the father of my child!” exclaims Sami, who rants how she doesn’t want Nicole raising her son. E.J. insists that Nicole has changed, but Sami is dubious. E.J. affirms that Nicole brings out the best in him and the two of them are very compatible and they both want the same things in life, like starting a family. “The kind of family you wanted to have with me?” she assumes. E.J. admits that he did want a family with her, but it’s not going to happen now.

Sami rants how he’s moved on with the biggest slut in Salem. E.J. says goodbye to her as Sami wonders if he’s having an alcohol problem. E.J. assumes she can’t take it that he’s not pining away for her. “I love you E.J. No, wait a second. I love Lucas. I love me,” he mocks. He affirms that he’s moving on. “Just to spite me,” she assumes. E.J. clarifies that he’s always going to care for her as the mother of his son. She affirms that she doesn’t want Nicole raising her child. E.J. says goodbye and good luck with everything, then hangs up on her. He tells Roman that he tried to do the right thing.

More Ranting and Complaining at the Safe House

A furious Sami throws the phone down and breaks something. She goes off on a tirade and roars how the situation is unbelievable, since the first call she gets is from E.J. She complains how he’s playing house with “knocked-up Barbie.” She picks something up, but Rafe discourages her from breaking anything else. “Men are scum! Especially tall ones, British ones, with high sperm counts!” she screams. Rafe thought she wanted nothing to do with E.J. She claims she doesn’t, she only assumed E.J. would start using his head and realize what a skank Nicole is. Rafe reminds her that Nicole’s pregnant with his child and actually told him about it. Baby or not, Sami predicts that Nicole is going to screw up his life. Rafe implores her to stop torturing herself and let them live their lives. Sami continues to rant and complain about E.J. and Nicole not living happily ever after and vows to make sure it doesn’t happen.

Rafe assumes that Sami really has it bad for E.J., which Sami denies. He cleans up the broken vase and she sarcastically apologizes, then tells him to leave her alone. Rafe implores her to explain why the hell she cares if E.J. moves on with some other woman if she’s so over him. Sami whines how Nicole gets to spend all of her time with Johnny and wonders what if she turns him against her. Rafe believes Sami will figure out what to do about it when she goes home.

Sami insists that she has to find a way to get home. Rafe thought she was a bit conflicted about going home, since she’s been hiding her pregnancy from everyone. He informs Sami that he checked E.J. out, but he didn’t seem to be the monster whom Sami makes him out to be. “His father is the monster. Stefano DiMera is the one I am terrified of,” she emphasizes. She believes Stefano is thrilled to have her out of the way so he can do what he wants with Johnny and cut him out of her life forever. Rafe states that it’s not going to happen and assures her that there are a lot of people who care about her. “Including me,” he adds. Sami apologizes for sounding ungrateful and expresses how she appreciates everything Rafe’s doing for her. Rafe reassures her that nobody’s going to lay a finger on her. Sami admits she feels safe with him.

Mayor Marino’s Killer

Back at the police station, Roman holds a sketch of the killer and vows to someone on the phone that the killer won’t hurt his daughter.

The killer is doing push-ups when he receives a phone call from someone asking him to meet him somewhere in regards to Sami. He later meets with a man on the pier and hands him a wad of cash. The killer receives photos of Rafe, which are guaranteed to lead him straight to Sami Brady.

DiMera Mansion

A weary Nicole returns home and sits down on the sofa for a moment, then looks at the alcohol. She picks up a bottle just as E.J. arrives home and claims she was looking for the grenadine to make a Kiddie Cosmo. E.J. asks where she was and says he called her a couple of times. Nicole claims she went to visit Chloe to wish her luck for tomorrow. They sit down, where E.J. fills her in on how Stefano convinced him that there was one rather large hurdle which was preventing him from fully committing to her and their baby. “And what did Stefano say that hurdle was?” she questions. “Samantha,” he replies. “So it’s back to Sami, huh? Big surprise,” she responds. Nicole berates him for leading her on, thinking he was over Sami. She demands for him to leave her alone. A smiling E.J. yells at her to wait for one second.

Nicole packs up her things in her bedroom as E.J. knocks on the door and asks her to let him explain. “Why? So you can tell me how madly in love you are with Sami?” she fumes. A smiling E.J. insists that she misinterpreted what he was trying to say. Nicole opens the door and calls for Pookie. He enters the room and reveals that he talked to Samantha on the phone and told her goodbye so he could move on with Nicole and their baby. He recalls how Sami said something on the phone, which made him realize the truth about how he’s been feeling for a long time. “What’s that?” questions Nicole. “That I love you,” he professes. Nicole is overjoyed to finally hear those words and kisses him.
