Titan
Victor argues with Philip about his decision to fire Melanie. Philip accuses his father of getting some perverse kick out of humiliating and insulting him. Stephanie eavesdrops nearby as Philip declares that he’s quitting. Philip demands to know why Victor put him in charge of the company if he doesn’t trust him. Victor thought he could handle it, but finds he was wrong. “So I’m gonna have to make other arrangements about the future of this company,” announces Victor.
Meanwhile, Melanie approaches Steph, who berates her nemesis for turning her back on Philip after he was trying to help her. “Tis the season, bitch,” snarks Melanie.
Philip admits that he’s made mistakes, but insists that every decision he’s made has been in the best interest of the company. “You passed on a project that could be the next billion dollar industry!” rehashes Victor. Philip reiterates that Melanie is a person whom he can’t do business with. Victor expresses shame that Philip is ready to sacrifice his job and his own company all because some woman got under his skin.
Steph tells Melanie to get out, reminding her that Philip fired her. Melanie suggests that Steph start showing some respect, believing that Victor doesn’t want her to go. She gloats how she’s managed to oust Steph from Max’s life and predicts that it’s only a matter of time before she does the same with her and Philip.
Victor rehashes how women have always clouded Philip’s judgement, bringing up Chloe’s name. Philip declares that he no longer works for Victor, so he no longer has to listen to him.
Meanwhile, the annoying Melanie continues to push Steph’s buttons. Philip emerges and thought Steph would wait for him at the pub. Steph confirms she was there until she found out that Melanie went to Victor behind his back. Philip leaves with Stephanie and Victor requests to have a word with Melanie.
Brady Pub
Philip and Stephanie later arrive outside the pub, where he complains how Victor insulted him and pissed him off. He rants how his father gives him the business, then questions his decisions. Steph implores him to take his own advice and never let his emotion guide a deal. Philip believes she’s right, but he can’t handle Melanie. Steph urges him to focus on smoothing things over with Victor. Philip predicts that even if he does get his job back, Victor will find some way to punish him.
Back at Titan
Victor announces to Melanie that Titan would be happy to pick up the fuel project, and he’ll do everything in his power to see that she’s happy. Melanie says she will be as long as Philip is running things. Victor states that Philip is no longer a part of the organization and trusts that it won’t affect their deal. “Actually it kind of does,” she shrugs. They are interrupted by Victor’s phone and he suggests taking it in private. Philip calls to apologize and admits that he was insolent and disrespectful. “I want my job back, if you still want me,” he announces. Victor agrees to take him back. Melanie eavesdrops. Philip implores Victor to trust him and to not step in when he makes decisions.
Victor later tells someone on the phone that he needs to discuss a matter which concerns the future of Titan.
Inside the Pub
Philip tells Stephanie that he got his job back. Steph hugs him in delight. Philip says they still have some issues to work out. “And you will, when you stop being such a hothead,” assures Stephanie, which makes Philip laugh. Steph notes that they’re standing under the mistletoe and kisses him as Melanie watches from outside. Melanie predicts that her nemesis will be the ghost of Christmas past pretty soon.
University Hospital
Daniel approaches a nurse named Lydia in Chloe’s room and asks where the patient is. Lydia informs him that Chloe’s fiancé came to take her home. Daniel flashes back to that electric moment with Chloe.
Daniel enters Kate’s room to see how she’s feeling. Kate doesn’t think she’s ready to deck the halls yet, but she’s hanging in there. She expresses how she’s looking forward to being with her family and with Daniel at Christmas. Kate hands him a box with a necklace inside and asks him to take it to Chloe at the Horton cabin. He doesn’t understand why she doesn’t want to give it to Chloe in person. Kate recalls how Lucas’s father, Bill Horton, gave the necklace to her years ago on Christmas Eve. She admits that she always intended to give it to Lucas’s wife or someone special in his life, but that particular woman has never been in Lucas’s life until now. Daniel thinks he should call Lucas and Chloe first. Kate encourages him to use the key and put the gift under the tree, since Lucas has taken Chloe to Chicago to see the Christmas lights.
Horton Cabin
A towel-clad Lucas emerges from the shower and approaches Chloe, who is sitting by the fireplace reading Weddings magazine. They discuss their dream house and how they won’t be spending much time at the cabin anymore. Chloe smiles how she’ll miss the cabin and they share a brief kiss. He has to leave soon for a meeting with Hearth & Home investors and asks if she’ll be okay. Chloe assures him that she’s fine and he can stop doting on her. He is tempted to get busy with her, but can’t since Maggie’s on her way to pick up Allie. Chloe insists that she could’ve watched Allie. Lucas says he wanted them to have time alone and suggests driving to Chicago to check out the Christmas lights. He kisses her, but she thinks of Daniel.
Lucas is later dressed and smooching with Chloe, then promises to be back soon. He opens the door to find Maggie and thanks her for taking Allie. Maggie beams how Allie will help her and Ciara bake cookies for Alice’s Christmas Eve party.
After Lucas leaves, Maggie comes inside and commends Chloe for what she did for Kate. Chloe is just hoping Kate’s cancer goes into remission and she makes a full recovery. Maggie raves how time just stand still when you’re at the cabin and all you focus on is the person whom you love. Chloe agrees that the cabin holds many special memories for her and Lucas, since it’s the place where she found herself again after everything happened with Brady and Philip.
