Hour and a Half of Oxygen, Two Hours of Fuel

From , former About.com Guide

Lexie enters Abe’s office, where they share an onscreen embrace. Abe fills her in on Bo’s recent phone call regarding Colleen Brady’s passing. He deduces that with Stefano in a catatonic state, the Brady/DiMera nightmare may finally be over (Hooray). She questions when Bo might be back, since she tried reaching Bo, Hope, and Kayla on their cell phones, but nobody was picking up. She asks him to get an estimated arrival from air traffic control. He agrees, but senses that she’s worried about something and wonders what she’s not telling him. She flashes back to receiving Bo’s disturbing test results on the phone at the hospital.

Off camera, Lexie fills Abe in on Bo’s status and how he and Hope are going straight from the airport to the hospital. She speculates that Hope doesn’t know about Bo’s possible fatal condition. “I hope it’s not too late,” she desponds. “Too late for what?” questions Chelsea as she and Steph enter. Abe asks what they’re doing there. Chelsea shares how she got a message from Bo saying the gang was coming back from Ireland, but when she called him back she couldn’t get an answer. Steph couldn’t get a hold of her parents either. Abe doesn’t have any news regarding the group and proceeds to call air traffic control asking if they can give him an estimated time of arrival. Chelsea notes that Lexie looks a little worried, but Lexie covers. Abe then informs them that everything’s fine and the gang should be arriving home tonight.

Abe changes the topic to the Ford Decker ordeal and admits that he’s relieved it’s all over. Lexie asks if Chelsea’s spoken to Billie. Chelsea informs them that her mom is thrilled to be back in London and has a nice flat and seems to be really happy. Abe offers to give the gals a call as soon as he hears news about John’s plane. He then receives a call from the air traffic control and is put on hold. After the call, Abe informs them that the pilot didn’t check in when he was supposed to and the tracking station hasn’t made radio contact.

“How can you calmly tell us we’re all gonna die?” frets Chloe. John claims he’s just trying to be realistic and reiterates the problems they have on the plane. Marlena believes that John really cares and that he’s trying to help them. Shawn and Belle put an oxygen mask on a sleeping Claire. Steve stresses how they need to do something to get control of the aircraft. John instructs them to apply their oxygen masks and breathe as slowly, calmly, and as evenly as they can. Kayla says hers doesn’t work, and neither does Philip’s, Hope’s, or Bo’s. Grandpa Shawn says his works. John predicts that they’re not all going to make it. “Hour and a half of oxygen, two hours of fuel,” he forewarns. Grandpa Shawn shares his mask with Bo and Hope, while Steve and Kayla share one. Philip and Steve try to encourage the gang to stay calm. Bo stands up and proceeds to go look for portable oxygen tanks, but he feels dizzy upon standing up. Chloe frets how cold it is in the cabin and wonders how they decide who gets the remaining oxygen. Steve proposes that the ones who are working on the plane go to the window. Marlena urges the gang to share the masks and figures that they will all make it that way. Hope and Chloe feel nauseous. John tells them to do whatever he wants, but he refuses to pass his mask around.

John questions why everyone is looking at him. “Because we realize that our lives are in your hands,” answers Marlena. “That’s why I need the oxygen,” confirms John. Bo and Hope recall how John has always helped them in the past. John claims he has no idea how to fix the systems on the plane. Marlena urges him to try it. Steve recalls how he used to be really good at hot wiring cars and is willing to give it a shot. Bo stands up and feels faint. Marlena urges him to sit down and breathe long, even breaths. Shawn offers to head to the cockpit with Steve, but Steve encourages him to stay with his wife and daughter. Kayla frantically asks Steve what he will do about oxygen. Steve suggests he can use one of the pilots masks. She quietly pleads with him not to go. He coaxes her to relax and breathe and assures her that he’ll be back, then kisses her. During the frightening ordeal, she flashes back to calling Steve and urging him to come home during her “window.” He arrives with yellow roses and they get amorous. Kayla also has a flashback to calling Lexie from Ireland beaming about her pregnancy news.

Philip tries to assure a terrified and freezing Chloe that they’re going to get through the ordeal and puts the mask over her face. Shawn and Belle share a mask and are relieved that Claire is sleeping. Bo claims he’s feeling better and encourages his pop to take his mask. He then feels nauseous and figures it’s from eating all of those pickled eggs. Kayla reveals to Marlena that she’s pregnant. Marlena is stunned that Steve doesn’t know and urges Kayla to keep her own mask and not deprive the fetus. She tells Kayla to pray that John and Steve get the plane under control. John sits next to Kayla after checking out the back. Shawn gives his mask to Belle and tells her to take care of Claire, but Belle affirms that they are sharing the mask. Chloe frantically asks Philip why the backup systems on the plane aren’t working. “Because whoever sabotaged this plane knew what they were doing,” surmises Philip. Kayla berates John for not springing into action to save people’s lives and orders him to get up and go help her husband. “What I need is for people to stop telling me what to do, and how to do it. But most of all I don’t need to hear about the kind of guy I used to be,” he counters before he gets up.
