Belle and Claire are in the back of the van with Crystal and Rob. Belle tries to soothe Claire while asking them where they are going, but Crystal gives her the silent treatment. Belle continues to ask who they are and where they are going. Crystal insists that all they want to do is protect them from Stefano DiMera. She claims theyre not the bad guys and only want to protect her. Belle begs to differ, since they just shot a police officer. Crystal reveals it was with rubber bullets. She mentions that Bradys gone and assures her that she and Rob will keep her out of harms way. Belle presses for answers, but Crystal simply tells her that shes safe and with family.
At the DiMera mansion, Roman hands Stefano a search warrant in order to search for John. A cocky Stefano tells them to go ahead and search, but asks them to let him know if they find some keys on a rabbits foot. He denies having seen John Black since he was in a casket and remarks what a good trick it would be to see a dead man come out of a casket surrounded by police. Stefano implores Rolf to give Bo and Roman the grand tour of the mansion, but asks him to keep an eye on them so they dont confiscate his valuables. Bo demands to see the tunnels and caves which they are standing on right now. A cigar-smoking Stefano wonders why he would hide the fact about bringing the dead back to life, since the technology could bring him millions. Bo urges him to either cooperate or come down to the station. A breathless Hope then emerges and announces that they found him. Bo heads down to the lab with Hope while Roman stays with Stefano and Rolf. Stefano rehashes how Marlena tried to shoot him recently, but he didnt file charges and claims he felt for a grieving widow. As Stefano sits down and toys with his chess set, Roman notes how cocky he is for someone facing some very nasty charges. Stefano paints himself as the hero for saving Johns life whom everyone else had given up as dead. I do not see this as an act of a criminal. I believe it is an act of a hero, he theorizes as he smokes his cigar.
Down in Rolf and Stefanos lab. Marlena is overwhelmed to see John. Its you. It really is you, she gasps. I suppose it is. Now tell me, who are you? he responds. She removes his shackles. He notes the familiarity of her perfume. She recalls how he bought it for her. He remembers their recent encounter in the alley. After she frees his shackles, he proceeds to leave, but she implores him to wait. Im Marlena, she introduces herself as she extends her hand. Youre John, she reminds him. He tells her not to be afraid, since hes not going to hurt her. Im not afraid. I know you would never hurt me, assures an emotional Marlena. He wonders why shes trembling. She says because he was dead. She then apologizes for being so emotional. He says thats okay, then asks if he can go. A tearful Marlena offers to show him the way.
Marlena and John run into Bo and Hope. Bo is overjoyed to see one of his best friends alive, but John grabs him and notes hes a cop. Marlena assures John that Bos a friend. John releases his hold on Bo. Marlena reveals that Johns lost his memory. Bo notes that despite Johns memory loss, his reflexes are pretty good. John wants out of there before Rolf and Stefano come back with the needles and start all over again. Marlena tries to assure him that they are never going to hurt him again.
Back upstairs, a bewildered Roman questions Stefano if he really believes that a jury of his peers will look upon this as an act of kindness. Stefano chuckles and reminds him that he has no peers and refers to it as a wonderful and selfless act. Roman refers to Stefano as a sick man and warns Stefano that he will pay. Bo, Hope, and Marlena then emerge. Roman is astonished to see John alive. Marlena reveals that his memory is vague, then offers to go fetch John some water. Hope gets off the phone and warns Bo that Belle and Claire may have been abducted. They agree to keep quiet to Marlena until they know more. Hope heads out, while Bo alerts Roman that they need to wrap things up. Roman officially arrests Stefano and Rolf. Bo cuffs Stefano. Marlena approaches Stefano and demands to know what Rolf did to John. Stefano claims that Rolf saved his life, and John is no longer the John she once knew and thus never will know her again. Marlena believes otherwise. While Marlena confronts Stefano, John grabs something and aggressively goes towards Stefano, Bo and Roman hold John back, then Rolf injects him with a sedative. Marlena yells what a monster Stefano is and soothes John, who loses consciousness. Marlena implores John to listen to her voice and assures him that shell take care of him. Im just so glad to have you back, she expresses as she strokes his head. While they await the ambulance, Stefano questions Bo as to who informed him of their little endeavor. Bo refuses to answer. As the brothers escort the criminals out, Stefano declares to Bo that hes not defeated and its not over.
Back at the alley, Sami alerts Philip that Hopes on her way. Philip informs her that Shawn is too. Sami urges Phil not to get into it with Shawn. Shawn and Chloe arrive on the scene, where Shawn blames Philip for the kidnaping. Philip refuses to take the blame and reminds Shawn how he threw Belle and Claire out. Shawn clarifies that he only threw Belle out. The men briefly argue about Belles kidnaping before Sami and Hope nearly have to pull them apart. Shawn and Hope approach the detective and asks what the scoop is. He informs him that Belle and Claires abductors took off in a van which drove off in a westerly direction, but Belles cop was down when they were taken. Hope suspects that Stefanos behind it. The detective then informs the gang that one of their choppers spotted the van heading towards the docks. Hope takes the detective aside while Shawn proceeds to go to the docks.
