Chelsea approaches Nick and wonders where he got all of his money. He exclaims that they’re rich and gives her an impromptu proposal. Later, it’s revealed that Pete and the blackjack dealer were in cahoots in order to help Nick out. The dealer then wonders why Pete helped out a complete stranger like Nick. “I did it for love. I’m a romantic at heart I guess,” he shrugs. Pete then approaches a janitor with an eye patch and gives his eye back to him, telling him he found it under the table.
Max later knocks on the door of the man who was last seen with Ilsa. Max grabs him and demands to know who Ilsa is. The man reveals that she goes by the name Candy Cane and is a pro who doesn’t come cheap. Max yells at him to get her number, which the man complies with.
Kayla arrives at the pub and asks a working Steve if he’ll buy a girl a drink. “Well as a matter of fact we’re running a special for beautiful blonds,” he replies. Kayla then mentions how she was at Bo and Hope’s house and Ciara was all smiles. She shows Steve some photos of Ciara and asks him what he would think of having another baby with her. Steve isn’t too keen on the idea of adding a baby to the family. A beaming Kayla refuses to accept the end of their discussion. He speculates that she wants a baby since they couldn’t raise Stephanie together. She recalls all the wonderful things he missed as a father. Steve states he’s tried with Stephanie, but believes he’s no good at being a dad. Kayla tells Steve to stop blaming himself for not raising Stephanie. Steve claims he paid the price and now Stephanie wants distance. Kayla believes their daughter will come around. Steve assumes that Stephanie thinks of him as a fact of biology and not even her dad. Kayla remains optimistic that things will get better nonetheless. “I don’t need a baby to make my life better than it already is,” he affirms. Kayla simply believes a baby will make their lives richer. Steve is doubtful he’s any good with kids, since he has holes in his past one could drive a semi through. Kayla assures him he’s a kind, gentle, and loving man and tries to assure him that a baby will love him as much as she loves him. Steve briefly brings up Jeremy and how he doesn’t want to end up like Jeremy’s parents. Kayla doesn’t give up her quest to have another baby with Steve and flashes a picture of Ciara before him along with batting her own beautiful eyes. She pleads her case on needy children and how they need families to adopt them. “Having a kid is not for me. That boat sailed,” he declares. He later sits down with her and mentions that she had years to adopt a kid and could’ve done it without him. She asserts that she didn’t want to, since she wants a full-time dad. He finally admits that she now has him thinking about it, but hints that they need to leave time for “other important things.” He then kisses her.
On the beach, Belle is blown away by Shawn’s proposal. He professes his love for her and kisses her. Belle smiles how she’s dreamed of this moment for so long. Shawn assumes this is a “right guy, wrong time kind of thing,” which he can live with as long as she’ll agree to someday be Mrs. Shawn Brady. Belle professes her love to Shawn. He insists he wants to marry her for the right reasons and wonders why she’s hesitating. “I just want to be sure,” she expresses. He vows to do whatever it takes for them to be happy. Belle agrees to do the same. By Belle’s hesitation, he insinuates that he’s not the only one who has a lot of growing up to do. He quickly apologizes for his previous remark. Belle admits she’s simply surprised and likes to see things coming. Shawn laughs as he assures her he’ll give her advance notice in a circled big red heart. They get playful as he picks her up and lays her on the ground, kissing her. The two later gaze up at the stars and laugh together. He then asks her if she’s dumping him. She wonders why he would even say something like that, since she loves him. She expresses her wish for them to be open about things. “Without honesty, we don’t stand a chance,” she insinuates. She then brings up him blowing off the job interview in Cleveland and confronts him with the knowledge that he never even got on the plane. He quickly realizes that Philip must’ve told her about the job interview. He assumes she held out on the proposal until he confessed. She can’t understand why he would keep it a secret. He claims he didn’t want the job to be about Philip and thus be gone all week, missing out on everything. Belle understands that, but questions what he did all day on the 4th if he never made it to Cleveland. We see a flashback of Shawn changing his flight plans to Indianapolis. He lies that he just drove around. She wonders why he didn’t come back to his dad’s sooner. “Because I didn’t want to see your face when you found out that I’d bagged the job,” he replies. She apologizes for helping set up the interview behind his back and assures him that if something’s not right for him, then it’s not right for her. She then gets down on one knee and proposes to him. He enthusiastically grabs her and says yes, sealing their engagement with a kiss.
