I'm Leaving Behind My Sons

By Gwen Morett, About.com

At the pub, Victor has just collapsed and a frantic Caroline is by his side. Max emerges and tells Stephanie to call 911. Max and Caroline desperately try to revive him.

Chloe encounters Kate outside the pub and wonders what she’s doing there, suggesting she should be home recuperating after major surgery. Kate claims she’s fine, but wishes she could say the same for her son. Chloe apologizes. Kate advises her to stay away from the Kiriakis men, believing that Philip has suffered enough at her hands. Chloe declares that she and Philip are history, but cautions her not to get too excited just yet. “You’re not exactly rid of me,” previews Chloe. Kate tells her to say no more, as she’s pleased that Chloe and Philip are broken up. She then sees the commotion inside and rushes to Victor’s side. Chloe isn’t far behind. Caroline is relieved that Victor has a pulse.

At the police station, Hope asks Philip why he and Lucas were fighting. “That’s between him and me,” replies Philip. Hope affirms that she’s trying to help her cousin, who also happens to be his brother. Philip remarks what a shame it is that there isn’t much either one of them can do to help Lucas. Hope wonders why he doesn’t sound more upset about Lucas. “Let’s just say he made his own bed,” implies Philip. Bo returns from processing Lucas. Philip mutters how Lucas never learns. Bo demands to know what’s going on between Lucas and Philip, but Phil refuses to answer and simply says it’s between his brother and him. Bo and Hope continue to press Philip for answers regarding Lucas. Phil is interrupted by a phone call from Morgan, who informs him that Victor had an attack at the pub and the paramedics are working on him now. “Please tell me he’s still alive,” begs Philip. Morgan tells him he’s still alive and on the way to the hospital. He thanks Morgan for calling. Philip hangs up and alerts Bo of the situation. Hope urges Bo to go with Philip to the hospital.

Chelsea arrives at the hospital on her first day as an occupational therapist in training. She raves to Daniel how she loves her job and how amazing her child development center is. She expresses how it’s the first job she’s had in a while where she feels as though she’s doing something worthwhile and thanks him for it. A modest Daniel shrugs how all he did was make a phone call. Chelsea shares how excited she is about taking classes in the fall. Daniel doesn’t think he’s ever seen her so happy. She says she has a lot to be happy about. Daniel admits that he wants to kiss her right now. He invites her to grab a bite to eat when he gets off in fifteen minutes. They are interrupted by a nurse who informs him that she just received a call from dispatch and the EMT’s are on the way with a possible stroke or heart attack victim, revealing that the victim is Victor Kiriakis. Daniel tells her to get a room ready and get a heads up to radiology and neurology. He tries to assure a distressed Chelsea that he’ll do his best to help Victor.

Back at the pub, the EMT deduces that Victor had a stroke. They wheel him out. Kate proceeds to call Philip, but Morgan assures her that she already took care of it. Before Caroline heads out, Max asks her if she needs anything else. Caroline tells her that Pete’s coming in to do extra hours and take on more responsibility. She insists that Max needs a break to find his answers, but Max argues that he doesn’t need any answers. An upset Caroline tells him not to argue with her, then kisses him goodbye. Max suggests to Steph that they pray Victor’s okay, since his ma couldn’t take losing anyone else she cares about.

Max later cleans up at the pub. Steph can’t believe he decided not to find the girl who may be his half-sister, especially since she has Trent as a father. She presses him to let her help find his sister, reminding him that they agreed to do it together. Max claims it was wrong to allow her to help him and tells her to stop pushing. She proceeds to rush off to the hospital, mentioning that it was Chelsea’s first day on the job and will need someone to lean on when Victor arrives. Max assures Steph that he loves her and kisses her goodbye. He heads upstairs after she leaves.

Victor arrives at the hospital, where the EMT’s inform Daniel that he’s having difficulty speaking. Caroline and Kate are by Victor’s side and Chelsea is nearby. Daniel asks Victor what his name is. Victor can barely speak and is able to squeeze with his right hand, but is weak on his left side. Daniel gives instructions to the nurse as Philip arrives on the scene. Daniel informs Phil that Victor’s suffering from a possible stroke. Kate tries to assure Philip that he’ll be okay. Bo arrives by his ma’s side and comforts her.

Daniel is later in Victor’s room, joking how one of the perks of having a godson as a doctor is that he gets to bypass the ER and go straight to his own room. He tries to assure Victor that he’ll pull through.

Outside Victor’s room, Kate worries how Daniel’s been in Victor’s room for a long time and the tests are finished, so she doesn’t understand why nobody’s telling them anything. Philip surmises that the results aren’t back yet or it’s bad news. Kate believes everything will be fine. Philip gravely reveals that Lucas is back in jail for breaking house arrest and taking his ankle monitor off. A distressed Kate wonders why the hell he would do that. Philip says it was to see Chloe.
