Play Therapy

By Gwen Morett, About.com

Daniel is at the pub and is approached by his “favorite assistant to the pediatric occupational therapist,” Chelsea. She smiles how that big fancy title makes her sound so important. Daniel assures her that she is important and she’s going to rock that department. He then pulls out a chair for her. She rambles how she had an “insane, crazy, busy day” today and didn’t even have time to eat lunch or come say hi to him. She beams at what an awesome day she had, referring to the kids as amazing, open, honest, and curious. She admits how she appreciates being with kids more than ever, knowing that she can’t have any of her own and claims she’s okay with not being able to have kids. Daniel partially blames himself, feeling as though he could’ve done something different. Chelsea happily shrugs how she has options, such as adoption, and all that matters is that everyone else in her life is healthy and happy. She then asks about her dad and grandpa. He claims that they’re doing okay, but Chelsea isn’t buying it, noting the look on his face. They discuss Bo and how weird he’s been acting lately. Chelsea asks about Victor. Daniel says he’s improving slowly, but there could be some setbacks. He states that Philip and Bo need to just chill out and calm down, remarking how agitated Victor becomes when either one of them walk into his room. He feels they need to stay away from them. Chelsea offers to talk to her dad about it. She proceeds to leave, then invites him back to Bo and Hope’s house to dinner. Daniel knows that Bo won’t be too happy to see him, but reluctantly accepts.

At the police station, Abe shares his suspicions with an officer that something’s off about Paul Hollingsworth’s package, and he wants to know what it is.

Lexie comes to see Abe and shows him a list of possible therapies for Theo. Abe is willing to do whatever it takes for Theo. Lexie expresses what a blessing it is to have these different options. Abe agrees, but worries that with all the therapies, Theo won’t have time to play. Lexie points out that their son doesn’t play, and if he does it’s without any enjoyment. She refers to the sessions as “play therapy.” Abe expresses how he’s worried about the expense, although he would take every penny he has and use it on Theo. Lexie suggests they can go through the school district for help, but some of the therapies they will have to pay for out of pocket. Abe implores her to hit him with a figure. Lexie estimates somewhere between one-to-two thousand dollars a month, which is on top of their insurance deductible. She insists that they can do this, even if they have to dip into Theo’s college fund. “Are you saying that Theo won’t be able to go to college?” he questions. Lexie sighs and says she can’t think that far ahead. She stresses that what’s most important now is having Theo start therapy. Abe tries to assure her that they’ll work it out. They are interrupted by a phone call. “We just got a break in the Paul Hollingsworth case,” he reveals.

At the Kiriakis mansion, Kate brings Philip a glass of Scotch and tells him not to fret. She tries to assure an unsettled Philip that he’s going to be fine, since the recording is gone and there’s no way he can be implicated in Paul’s disappearance. “Thanks to Bo, who risked his career and reputation,” adds Philip. “He’s family. That’s what we do for each other,” affirms Kate. Philip doesn’t feel any better about Bo cleaning up his mess. Kate affirms that Bo is protecting someone who’s innocent. She recalls how Philip was always the boy who broke up the fights instead of getting involved in the fights. A morose Philip says she has no idea what he’s capable of. “I know what you’re not capable of, and that’s murder,” surmises Kate.

Philip confesses that he’s done things which she wouldn’t be proud of. Kate implores him to tell her what they are, assuring him that no matter what, he is her son. He insists that whatever he did, it was for the family. He explains that Bo is unlike them, since Bo’s never compromised his position on the force. He worries about Bo going down for it and even going to jail over protecting him. Kate tells him to stop thinking the worst, but Philip can’t live with Bo risking his future. She predicts that if the recording of Phil’s threat would’ve seen the light of day, he would’ve been arrested by now. They continue to argue about the situation before Morgan arrives, which surprises Kate. Philip reveals that he invited Morgan, then hugs her. Morgan apologizes for interrupting. Kate leaves so they can talk. Morgan continues to worry for her father. He asks if there’s any news yet, but she says no. He tries to assure her that the authorities will find out something soon. Morgan then receives a phone call from Abe, who requests that she come down to the station in regards to her father’s case. She asks Philip to come with her.

Caroline cleans up dishes at Bo and Hope’s house after Bo and Ciara have finished eating. Bo hugs Ciara and agrees to save Hope some ice cream, as she’s working late in the heat. Caroline suggests that Ciara play with her doll while she fixes her some ice cream. She then notes how Bo hasn’t said a word since they’ve come from the hospital. Bo admits he’s worried about Victor. She’s convinced that something’s upsetting Bo and asks if something happened between him and Victor. Bo claims he’s just concerned about Victor, since he had a stroke. Caroline suspects it’s something more than that and asks if he had a fight with Victor. Bo admits that the idea of having to bury his biological father is more than he can handle. Caroline apologizes for being insensitive. She tries to assure Bo that Victor’s a fighter and he will pull through. She tells a brief and humorous story about bottling up feelings. “Pain is like a dog. You’ve gotta let it out. You’ve gotta walk it,” she recites, which makes Bo smile.
