Becoming Friends

By Gwen Morett, About.com

Daniel and Bo are in Victor’s room, where Daniel rants how Victor wasn’t supposed to have any visitors. Daniel tells Bo that everything seems to be stable except for Victor’s blood pressure, which has gone through the roof and is an indicator of high stress. He urges Bo to get out of the room. A weak Victor asks to speak to his son. Daniel gives them two minutes. He walks out of the room and demands to know what Kate said that almost killed Victor. “I will not allow anyone to put my patients at risk. Do you understand?” he affirms. “It wasn’t my intention,” responds Kate. Daniel doesn’t give a damn about her intentions and continues to chew her out. Chelsea intervenes and believes that he’s being a little hard on her. Kate explains how she felt that Victor had a right to know that Philip was in the hospital. Daniel argues how Victor needs to be protected from getting upset in his precarious condition. He asserts that he’ll be the one to decide what’s best for Victor.

Chelsea asks Daniel what his problem is. Daniel tells her to stay out of it. Chelsea demands for Daniel to apologize to her grandma. “I don’t want an apology from Daniel. I don’t want anything from Daniel,” declares Kate. After she walks off, Chelsea berates Daniel for his lack of compassion and for his treatment of Kate. Daniel reiterates how he warned Kate not to upset Victor, then tells Chelsea not to talk to him about compassion. Chelsea is stunned by his behavior and storms off.

Back in Victor’s room, Bo informs him that Philip got his transfusion and he’s on the mend. Victor weakly tells Bo that he can get his hands on as much of Philip’s blood type as the hospital needs. Bo offers to go pick it up if Victor tells him where it is, but Victor says he can’t. He thanks Bo for what he did. “I covered up evidence and gave it to you. I compromised my career and my ethics,” laments Bo. Victor states that it was in the best interests of the family. Bo reminds him that Hope and his kids are his family too, and he could lose everything because of what he did. “The evidence is gone. No-one ever needs to know,” states Victor. Daniel enters and needs to take Victor down for some tests. Victor tells Daniel that he knows someone who can give Philip blood. Daniel appreciates the offer, but assures him that they have all the blood they need. Victor insists that he needs to see Philip, but Daniel tells him no.

Morgan sits at Philip's bedside, expressing how worried she’s been about him. She gently kisses him, then expresses how she’s never felt this way about somebody. “Philip, I think I’m falling in love with you,” she confesses. Chloe is nearby and overhears. She apologizes for interrupting such a private moment. Morgan tells her rival that he’s doing better and will pull through. Chloe quips how Morgan’s love for him saved his life. Hope interrupts and asks for a moment with Morgan. Chloe sits by Philip’s side and tearfully apologizes for the way things turned out for them. She assures him that she’ll always be his friend and knows she doesn’t have the right to be hurt or jealous. She admits that she should’ve done everything she could to keep him from getting involved with Morgan.

Hope and Morgan step outside, where Hope needs to ask her a few more questions about her dad. Morgan remembers Paul saying he needed to leave town because someone was threatening his life. Hope brings up the letter which the police found in the suitcase asks about the proof which was supposed to reveal who wanted Paul dead. Morgan states that it wasn’t inside the package. Hope asks Morgan if she really looked carefully inside and saw anything else. Morgan insists that she didn’t and wonders if there was something she didn’t see.

Hope later reveals to Morgan that Paul’s envelope had been searched thoroughly and there was nothing there. Morgan is too worried about Philip to focus on that.

“I’ll be praying for you Philip, and I will always be here for you,” expresses Chloe as she kisses his hand. Morgan re-enters and assumes that Chloe blames her, but Chloe affirms that there’s no-one to blame but the man who pulled the trigger. Chloe states that she wants Philip to be happy, and if Morgan can make him happy, that’s all that matters. Morgan is reluctant to believe her. Chloe is willing to support her and Philip if she’s right for him. She tells Morgan not to hurt Philip, then walks out.

Nicole arrives at the hospital and asks Chloe how Philip’s doing. Chloe reveals that he’s still unconscious. Nicole sits down and puts her head in her hands. Chloe asks Nicole if she’s okay. Nicole believes their problems seem pretty petty right now. Chloe smiles how Philip would probably be shocked to seem them being so civil towards one another. Nicole jokes how maybe they should go inside his room together and send him some positive energy. “Sure, once Morgan gets the rest of her time in,” says Chloe, who reveals that Philip took the bullet for Morgan and she’s in love with him. She believes that he’s going to make it and admits it was never meant to be with Philip. She can’t believe that they are talking like this. “Sounds hokie but I think it’s called becoming friends,” smiles Nicole. “Whoa. Let’s not get too crazy,” jokes Chloe.

Chloe later notes how Morgan’s certainly taking her time and asks Nicole if she’s going to go inside. Nicole chuckles how she doesn’t think she can stand it without a shot or something. Chloe spots a nurse and asks her if there’s any change in Philip’s condition. The nurse reveals that Philip’s not her patient, and she’s been assigned to his brother’s case. The ladies are stunned to hear that Lucas has just been admitted.

Morgan continues to sit beside Philip and strokes his head. She has a fantasy of a romantic encounter with Philip with the song entitled “Magic” by Colbie Caillat playing in the background and the two of them dancing. Philip kisses her while they dance. Morgan comes back to reality and asks Philip to wake up. She gazes out the window and fantasizes again about sharing a romantic dance with Philip and kissing him. Meanwhile, Philip slowly begins to wake up.
