Social Intercourse

By Gwen Morett, About.com

At the Java Café, John answers his phone to Ava, who agrees to a date with him. He suggests meeting at 7:30 tonight at the mansion, then hangs up. Paul arrives and is confronted by John. “My sources tell me that you’ve been associating with Philip Kiriakis,” says John. Paul claims the sources are wrong. John asks Paul if he’s the one who planted the drugs on his ship. Morgan then arrives and spots the two together. Paul denies planting any drugs and asks John the same question. John affirms that he’s not in the narcotics business, but states how Victor was a kingpin back in his day. He warns Paul of the big mistake he’ll be making if Paul is lying to him. Morgan approaches them and wonders what they’re talking about. Paul greets Morgan and refers to John as his friend, but Morgan thinks he’s anything but a friend to her dad. Paul concocts a story about thanking John for making him a free man. John claims that with any luck, Paul will have his old job back in no time. Morgan was hoping Paul would get a less stressful job. He states that he needs a good paying job, since college doesn’t come cheap. Morgan eagerly offers to help out by getting a part-time job or applying for student loans, but Paul won’t hear of it. She gives John a dirty look and warns him to stay away from her father. After John walks off, Paul tells his daughter that it was completely unnecessary, since he can take care of himself.

Chloe is moving her suitcase down the stairs at the DiMera mansion when Philip asks her what she’s doing and assists her. She hands him the house key and requests that he tell Victor that she didn’t have any duplicates made. Philip asks her to keep it. “What? So I can come in for midnight booty calls?” snarks Chloe. Philip implores her to keep it and admits that he missed her last night. Chloe admits that she missed him as well. He asks her not to move out, but she doesn’t want Victor to go ballistic upon seeing her there. She tries to assure him that she’ll be fine and surmises that Phil’s relationship with Victor is more important than his relationship with her. He shares how he made it clear to Victor that he can’t control who Phil sees or what he does. “But still, I’m gone,” she affirms. They agree to have dinner later tonight and seal the deal with a kiss. Philip offers to pay for her room and whatever else she needs, but she says it’s okay since she already received her first alimony check from Brady. Philip predicts the money will disappear pretty quickly. Chloe assures him that it’s only until she finds an apartment. Philip thought she was looking for a house. Chloe brings up a problem called a down payment, which she doesn’t have. Philip asks how much she needs, but Chloe implies that she may be gone soon if she doesn’t find a job. Philip answers his phone and goes into the other room while Chloe leaves.

Philip orders his phone recipient to find out what’s on John’s encrypted disc, insisting that they don’t have the luxury of time. Morgan then barges in insisting that someone needs to stop John Black. She recounts how she ran into her father and John at the Java Café and suspects that Paul is working for John. She apologizes for barging over there, but she didn’t know where else to go. Philip admits that he’s glad she came to him. She shares how worried she is about Paul, complaining how John’s taking complete advantage of him. They are interrupted by Philip’s phone. It’s Paul, who warns Philip that John is onto him and demands the rest of his money. Philip wonders if he said anything that might tip John off, but Paul says no. “Do you really think you deserve it?” asks Philip. Paul rants how he stuck his neck out for Philip, since he stuck the drugs onto John’s ship. He fumes how Phil owes him big time and furiously demands his money. Philip hangs up on him. Morgan proceeds to leave, but Philip takes her hand and asks her to stay.

Lucas is on the phone at the DiMera mansion and tells his recipient that he has the money. Sami overhears and wonders what he needs money for. He feigns ordering pizza and hangs up, then notes how peaceful it is around there without the “Big Brit." Lucas wonders if E.J. is meeting with more clients like Nicole. Sami affirms that Nicole’s not his only client. She rehashes saying horrible things to Lucas after the incident with Allie, but reminds him that he let Allie wander off. He admits he made a mistake and wants to drop it. “Lucas, I want us to be together. I want us to be a family with Allie,” expresses Sami. “What about Johnny?” questions Lucas, who implores her to make a choice between him and E.J. Sami professes to love him and coaxes him to just get past their mistakes. “I’m sorry, but I don’t fool around with married women,” he declares. Lucas admits that he wants a life with her, but he didn’t think E.J. was going to be a part of the picture. Sami affirms that he’s not and things are over between them. She professes that she loves him and wants to grow old with him. Lucas doesn’t see how that’s possible anymore and refuses to discuss it until she drops the last name of DiMera. Sami assures him that the divorce is in the works, but it’s not good enough for Lucas. “You don’t trust me,” she assumes. “I don’t trust E.J., and if he’s the one handling your divorce you can bet something’s gonna happen,” he predicts. Sami vows to ensure that Mickey looks at every single piece of paper concerning the divorce. Lucas asserts that until it’s final, the two of them have nothing to discuss.

John arrives home acting like a teenager preparing for his first date. He displays two colognes and asks Sami which one releases her feminine desires. She takes a whiff at each one and clears her throat before choosing her preference. She asks him why he’s trying on colognes. “Well, for my hot date tonight,” reveals John. Sami reminds him that he’s married. John implies that he and his lady friend will need some privacy. “Every man in here is completely insane!” Sami exclaims.
