At the Salem Inn, Max hides in the closet as Trent and Nicole stand outside his room. Trent is anxious to reconnect with Nikki, but an uncomfortable Nicole tries to let him down. They soon discover that his room has been broken into and ransacked. Trent picks up the phone and demands for the police to get there. He soon discovers that Nicole has slipped out. Trent hears noises in his bedroom and opens the door with his flashlight in hand, discovering that his intruder (Max) has escaped out the window.
Bo and Hope arrive at the pub, where Hope surmises that its only a matter of time before they get to the truth regarding the recent dock activity. John approaches them and believes they already know whos behind the activity. Bo and Hope berate him for sneaking up on them and eavesdropping. Well I tend to forget my manners when my life is being screwed with, retorts John, who accuses Bo of protecting his little brother Philip. Hope affirms that they have no proof that Philip and Paul planted the drugs. Without proof there will be no arrests, declares Bo. This infuriates John, since the Salem P.D. had no trouble arresting him on bogus drug smuggling charges. Bo and Hope remind him that drugs were found on his ship along with a suspicious manifest, and he also assaulted a cop. John is convinced that Bos brothers are sticking together and pinning it on him. Bo affirms that if Phil is involved, he will be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. He reveals that Philip denied any involvement with Paul. And you honestly believe that he was going to admit it to you? derides John. Hope affirms that Philips not getting preferential treatment. Bo emphasizes one last time that there will be no arrests made without proof. John snarks how theyre not going to find proof sitting around on their butts drinking coffee, then walks out.
Nearby, Nick tries to call Max and urges him to pick up.
Hope later admits how worried she is about John. Bo reveals that Philip has agreed to talk to him again and is on his way now. Hope wonders if he thinks Philip tried to frame John. Bo would hope his little brother wouldnt do something so stupid. Hope believes he has motive. Philip then arrives and implores them to cut to the chase. Hope relays how Johns informant told him that Paul was working for Phil. Philip continues to deny having anything to do with the recent events. Bo answers his phone and is summoned down to the Salem Inn for a breaking and entering.
At the DiMera mansion, Lucas and Chloe discuss the fact that he wandered to the pier to get some fresh air. She expresses how he reached out to her when she needed a friend, which is something that nobody has done since shes been back in Salem. Unless you count my brother, adds Lucas. Chloe reveals that hes the one who made her cry, which Lucas apologizes for. She claims it was just a misunderstanding and everythings okay now. I wont turn you in Lucas. I wouldnt do that to a friend, she promises. Lucas thanks her for keeping her mouth shut. He admits that it was too dangerous and says he wont do it again.
Chloe asks if things are better between him and Sami. Lucas reveals that he gave her an ultimatum in which she or E.J. had to go. Chloe wonders what if neither one of them moves out. Lucas deduces that things will be over for good between him and Sami. Samis a fool if she lets you go, remarks Chloe. I could say the same thing about my brother, admits Lucas. Chloe informs him that Bo questioned Philip about the warehouse fire. Lucas questions if she thinks Philip had anything to do with the warehouse fire. He swears he didnt, and I have to believe that, insists Chloe. John then arrives home and balks at this. Chloe tells Lucas to hang in here and leaves. Lucas accuses John of being rude. It is my house. I will be as rude as I please! asserts John, who demands to know whats going on between him and Chloe. Lucas insists that theyre friends and is in no mood for Johns attitude. John grumbles how he can finally get a little peace and quiet. Lucas tells him to knock himself out and leaves the room. John then phones Ava, wanting to take her up on her offer.
John thanks Ava for coming right over. She offers to help him prove that Paul torched his goods. She calls Angelo and Eddie and orders them to pick up Paul Hollingsworth and bring him to the DiMera mansion immediately. Ava hangs up and announces that Paul will be there soon and they can get the truth out of him. I knew there was a reason I liked you! smiles a giddy John. Ava wonders what Kiriakis has against him. John reveals that he bribed Paul Hollingsworth to hold up a few Kiriakis ships without any violence, but Paul betrayed him. Ava implies that in her family, its frowned upon. John points out that Kiriakis upped the stakes by planting coke on his ship and torching his impounded cargo. Ava vows to make him pay. So you think your boys can get Hollingsworth to talk? wonders John. Hell squeal like a little pig if you want, predicts Ava, who realizes that she sounded exactly like her father on the phone and doesnt want to turn out like he did. John points out that shes the head of a pretty big business now with her father gone, admitting how her father reminds him of his half-brother Stefano. He suggests they stay out of each others way so they dont have a conflict of interest, revealing that he has inherited all of Stefanos business interests. He shares how Blondie thinks he should use it all to eradicate all the evil which Stefano has perpetuated. Ava suggests they combine forces. They lock eyes as John says hes thinking about it.
Angelo and Eddie soon bring Paul to the mansion. A confused Paul asks John what the hells going on. John thought that Paul needed extra persuasion to talk to him. He confronts Paul about starting the warehouse fire and demands the truth. Paul insists that he doesnt know anything about the fire, and yells how they are on the same side. We were on the same side, but obviously Philip K made you a better offer, counters John. Paul yells how its not true.
