Out of Sight, Out of Mind

By , About.com Guide

John is on the phone at the mansion asserting that Kiriakis set him up, and it’s time to make him pay. Lucas emerges when Sami asks for some big boxes, since E.J.’s moving out. “The hell I am,” refuses E.J. Sami states otherwise and believes he can afford to get his own place since he made all that money from Nicole’s settlement. E.J. reveals that he had a chat with John, who agreed to let him stay. Lucas admits that he would leave the nuthouse in a second if he had the chance, then exits the room. E.J. tells Sami to stop asking him to go anywhere. He accuses her of pretending that their lovemaking didn’t happen. She refers to it as a mistake.

Out in the foyer, Lucas removes his ankle monitor and leaves the mansion.

Sami later offers to help E.J. pack and calls for Rolf to find them some boxes. E.J. informs her that Rolf’s at a tango lesson. He hypothetically asks where she would like him to live, reminding her that he just sublet his apartment to Steve and Kayla. Sami suggests he can live at the Salem Inn since he has all this money now. “Do you really want the immigration service breathing down our necks again?” he questions. Sami reminds him that they’re getting a divorce, so immigration will figure it out soon enough. E.J. affirms that he’s taking his son with him if he leaves. “You are not taking my son away!” she shouts.

John is later outside the pub and receives a call. “No. Paul Hollingsworth won’t say a word,” responds John.

Morgan arrives at the pub and talks to her mom on the phone, filling her in on how Paul just left town. Meanwhile, Chloe enters and walks right by Morgan. She glares at Morgan with the evil eye before flashing back to seeing her kiss Philip on the pier. Morgan asks what her problem is.

Nearby, Bo and Hope sit at a table and continue working on the drug bust investigation. Hope expresses her disbelief that John would start the warehouse fire. Bo states that until they find evidence to prove otherwise, John’s the number one suspect. Chelsea arrives and requests to talk to Hope alone. After the ladies excuse themselves, Caroline tells Bo how Max is going through a rough time, but she really can’t talk about it since Max told her something in confidence. Bo offers to help out if he can.

Chelsea and Hope sit at a nearby table, where Chelsea asks to borrow Hope’s earrings for her date tonight. A beaming Chelsea asks her not to tell Bo. Hope isn’t crazy about keeping secrets from Bo and wonders why she doesn’t want him to know. Chelsea refers to her date as very successful, smart, funny, insanely hot, then reveals that it’s Daniel. Hope isn’t exactly jumping up and down with excitement and realizes why Chelsea doesn’t want Bo to know. She points out how Daniel’s much older than her and expresses concern over the age difference. Chelsea believes that Daniel would never hurt her. Hope wonders if Daniel asked her out or if Chelsea asked him out. “He asked me,” replies Chelsea. Hope states her approval. Chelsea agrees to tell Bo herself if her relationship with Daniel goes somewhere, but doesn’t see the point in getting him worked up until there’s at least a second date. Hope reluctantly agrees to keep this from Bo for now.

Bo looks over at his girls and admits that there was a time he never thought he would see Hope and Chelsea having a mother/daughter moment. Caroline smiles how Hope’s really stepped up since Billie left. Bo shares that he’s planning a surprise for Hope and he’s going to need his ma’s help.

At the hospital, Kate is dressed and ready to go home. The nurse assures her she can be released as soon as the doctor gives her one last check-up. Kate asks for another doctor other than Daniel to sign her release papers. She phones Lucas and asks why he’s whispering. He claims the twins are sleeping and asks her what’s going on. She reveals that she’ll soon be a free woman, then notes her bad choice of words. She predicts that he can have a little slack and be able to get rid of the monitor if he obeys all the rules. Lucas insists that he has to go. Kate wonders why he sounds so anxious. He claims he’s just excited that she’s getting out of the hospital.

At the Salem Health Club, Daniel gives Philip a copy of the Salem Intruder, which has Philip and John’s picture on the front page entitled, “Dock War Catches Fire.” They briefly discuss the fire and drug bust before changing the topic to Brady, who has been clean for nearly eight months. Daniel believes Chloe will be fine since she’s an attractive and talented woman. He then realizes that Chloe is the woman whom Philip’s seeing. Philip shares how she’s only part of the equation, but there’s another woman. “Well does this other woman have a name?” questions Daniel. Philip grins from ear to ear. He reveals to Daniel that he and Chloe dated in high school before going their separate ways, referring to his and Chloe’s relationship as familiar and comfortable. Daniel surmises that he wants someone new and exciting. Philip doesn’t know what he wants, but gets the feeling that Chloe’s not going to be too happy if it isn’t her.

Daniel asks Philip what he’s doing for the 4th of July. Phil says he doesn’t know, although Bo and Hope usually have a big barbeque. Daniel then sees the display on the table and notes that the Salem Health Club is now green. Philip receives a call from Kate, who asks him to pick her up at the hospital in an hour. He invites her to recuperate at the mansion. “Absolutely not,” refuses Kate. Kate wonders if Victor even knows he’s making the offer. “As long as you don’t bring a dog to the house I’m sure it’ll be fine,” jokes Philip, who offers to hire a full-time nurse if she doesn’t move into the mansion. Kate reluctantly agrees to do it just for a few days. After Philip hangs up, Daniel surmises that Kate wasn’t too happy they were hanging out together.

Back at the pub, Bo later fills his mom in on needing her help for Hope, stating that he would do it himself if he wasn’t so swamped at work. “Well I have an idea how we can lighten your workload,” announces John. Caroline excuses herself to let the former friends talk.
