Steve rehashes how he had a not so nice daddy, Duke, who showed up in his life when he was grown. Max assures Steve that he’d never do anything to hurt Steph, as he loves her way too much. Steve knows this, and assures him Steph loves him as well. He encourages Max to open up to Steph. Max intends to tell her everything soon. Steve assures Max that he’s there for him, night or day.

Steve and Kayla join Roman and the gang, where Morgan tells them that Chloe claimed to have seen her father on the docks the night of the fire. “I did see him,” lies Chloe, who reveals that Paul reaked of gasoline.

Hope and Bo make a toast at Chez Rouge. Hope is curious to know what the Wednesday night occasion is, noting how her husband’s wearing a suit and tie. He assures her that she’ll find out when the time is right. Hope assumes that he got a lead on the arson case or drug bust and brought her there to celebrate. He says it’s not about work. They discuss their number one suspect, John, before he calls her on talking shop. He kisses her and declares that the night is about the two of them and is determined not to let anything spoil it.

Daniel walks into Chez Rouge and encounters Bo and Hope at the bar, where Bo assumes he got all dressed up for a hot date. Someone then announces to Bo and Hope that their table is ready. “Oh, thank God!” exclaims an apprehensive Hope, who claims she’s just starving. Daniel then phones Chelsea and is unable to reach her.

Nicole is less than thrilled to be joining Trent at Chez Rouge. He proposes a toast to the past and to the future. She reluctantly agrees to toast as long as she can drink.

After Bo and Hope sit down, they notice Nicole sitting with Dean Robbins, which they find strange. Nicole glances at Bo and Hope across the room, which Trent notices. She informs him that Bo is Victor’s son and he and Hope are detectives with the Salem P.D. Trent reveals that Bo came to investigate the robbery at his hotel, recalling that Bo’s daughter was dating one of his best and brightest students (Nick). Trent surmises that Nick looks up to him. “Perfect. From what better position to shoot him down?” responds a bitter Nicole. “Of course that’s after you’ve picked his brain, and stolen all his best ideas and completely shattered his confidence,” predicts Nicole.

Nicole later asks if they’re done, but he calls her “Nikki” and tells her to relax. She asks why he can’t just leave her alone. Trent claims he missed her and would like to make amends, but she says no. Trent tries to assure Nicole that her secret’s safe with him, but Nicole is dubious. “You still don’t trust me?” he asks. Nicole is bewildered he could ask such a thing after everything he did to her. A university student named Sam interrupts and compliments Trent on his book. Trent introduces his “lovely companion” Nicole. Trent gets an ego boost as he remarks how he’s becoming quite the local celebrity. Nicole admits her surprise that he introduced her to someone, since there was a time when he was embarrassed to be with her.

Nearby, Bo tells Hope that she looks more beautiful than the day he married her the first time. She thanks him and refers to it as sweet. She is eager to know what they’re celebrating, but he continues to keep mum. Daniel is mesmerized when Chelsea walks in Chez Rouge wearing a black dress. “You look beautiful,” marvels Daniel. She apologizes for being late. They proceed to head to their table, but she sees Bo and Hope across the room and believes it could be a problem. “I guess I don’t really need to be too worried,” shrugs Chelsea. Daniel wonders if she’s really ready for this.

Bo recalls his near death experience and Hope's kidnapping recently, realizing that they could’ve lost each other forever. It made him realize how precious their time is together, and he doesn’t want to take anything for granted. “Especially not you, the love of my life,” he adds.

Trent later asks Nicole to dance, asking her if she remembers how they used to dance together. “I’d rather not,” responds Nicole. Trent warns her to be a little nicer to him. She reluctantly agrees to dance and is clearly uncomfortable. Trent brings up his son. Nicole and Trent sit back down together, where she questions who his son is. “His name is Max Brady,” he reveals.

Chelsea assures Daniel that she’s sure about dating him, as she’s not the one who had an issue. Daniel states his willingness to be open-minded. Chelsea admits to not telling Bo about their date, but told Hope since she doesn’t freak out as much about things. Daniel respects Bo’s concerns over the age difference, but confirms that they are two adults doing nothing wrong. Chelsea couldn’t agree more. Daniel asks if they should just go over and say hi. “Absolutely,” agrees Chelsea.

Chelsea and Daniel come over to the table and say hello. Bo realizes that Daniel’s date is with his daughter and wonders why he didn’t say anything before. Daniel claims he was going to but didn’t get the chance. A tense Hope claims it was because their table was ready and she was starving. Chelsea declares that they don’t have anything to hide and just came to say hello. “And we’re really glad that you did, aren’t we?” states Hope as she kicks Bo under the table. Bo admits his surprise, remarking that Daniel’s kind of old for Chelsea. “It’s not like he’s an old man, Dad,” says Chelsea. Bo notes that Daniel seems rather youthful for his age. After Daniel and Chelsea walk off, Hope accuses Bo of being rude. Bo believes Daniel should be with someone his own age and type. “Well, what is that?” questions Hope. “I don’t know. Globe trotting bohemian commitment phobic surfer. Not my daughter!” answers an overprotective Bo.

Daniel and Chelsea return to their table, where Chelsea assures Daniel that her dad will come around. “Has anyone ever told you that you have the most incredible smile?” he compliments. She returns the compliment.
