New Beginnings

By Gwen Morett, About.com

Daniel and Chelsea continue their date at Chez Rouge, where he tells her for the third time that he’s on call tonight. They agree how awkward things are between them right now, even though they know each other. He makes a toast in Hawaiian which means “new beginnings.” She then mentions how it’s too bad Sarah Ciara wasn’t feeling well, as Bo and Hope were enjoying their night out together. She admits she’s kind of glad they’re gone and assures Daniel that Bo likes him as a person, but he’s still hung up on the age thing. Daniel warns her that Bo isn’t the only person who’s going to be hung up on it. Chelsea knows this and doesn’t care. “That is so hot,” remarks Daniel as he takes her hands and marvels how beautiful she is.

Nearby, Nicole takes a drink and requests another. Trent tries to discourage her from getting drunk and making a spectacle of herself. Nicole wonders why he cares, recalling how he used to like it when she got plastered. Trent agrees that they did have their fun. Nicole tells him to cut the crap, referring to their past relationship as a sham. “I was nothing more than your little sex toy,” she recalls. Trent says they were good together. He proposes they start over, but Nicole adamantly opposes this.

Daniel tells Chelsea what a lucky girl she is to have a cool, caring family. Chelsea agrees that they are pretty cool, except for Kate, who can be a little overprotective. She proposes they discuss the two of them. Daniel clarifies that they’re just exploring the possibilities right now between them.

Nicole asks Trent what his game is. Trent suggests they just go out together and have some fun. She says she’s having a hard time letting her guard down, since one minute he plays nice and the next minute he’s calling her a stinking drunk. “You’re just afraid that I might get bombed and blurt out some incriminating scenario from your dark, murky past,” taunts Nicole. Trent claims he has nothing to hide. Nicole wonders if Max knows about him, which Trent confirms. “That must’ve been a joyous reunion. What did he do, spit on you?” jeers Nicole. Trent claims he cares about his son and cares about her, stating that meeting her was one of the best things that ever happened to him. Nicole doesn’t share the same sentiment towards him, admitting that meeting him nearly ruined her life. “Your life was ruined before you met me. I’m the one who put it back together again,” he refutes. She accuses him of using her until he could find another ingenue to crawl over to get to the top. “The truth is, your life was a disaster. If it weren’t for me and everything that I did for you, you would probably be dead,” he seethes.

Nicole asks why everything’s always about him. He recounts how he took her under her wing, nurtured her, and helped her get back on her feet again. Nicole retorts that she’s the one who pulled herself back together, kicked the drugs, went back to school, and did everything she could to get her degree and make something of her life. “You used me, just like my father did,” she accuses. She rehashes how her father drugged her and made her do porn, and Trent turned her into his “it girl” whenever he needed a warm body to have sex with or hang on his arm at his stuffy faculty parties. She tearfully asks him why he dumped her like garbage when his career took off. “You left me feeling worthless and empty as my father did. My self-esteem was so trashed, it hurt so bad. And I didn’t care if I lived or died,” she cries. Nicole thought at one time he was in love with her and they would be together forever. “We’re all responsible for our own destiny,” he responds. “You’re nothing but a sniveling, whining little ingrate who loves feeling sorry for herself,” he sneers. An angry Nicole blames Trent for not ever being able to trust anyone again. She warns him that his nice guy routine isn’t going to fly, since she knows who he is and what he’s capable of. Trent threatens to reveal her dirty little secret if she doesn’t keep her mouth shut.

Daniel and Chelsea discuss what’s good to eat. Chelsea suggests the chicken piccata. Daniel soon receives a page from Dr. Taylor from the ER and needs to head back to the hospital. Chelsea agrees to a rain check. He tells her she’s coming with him to the hospital so their date doesn’t have to end.

Daniel and Chelsea later arrive at the hospital, where he attends to a patient while she eagerly waits for him. A man soon brings dinner to Chelsea. Daniel soon joins Chelsea, where he presents her dinner courtesy of Chez Rouge and puts a lei around her neck, saying “aloha.” He says he needs to hang around the hospital until Mrs. Goldstein is out of surgery, so he thought they’d have dinner there. He surprises her with her favorite dish, chicken piccata. She nearly lifts the lid off, but he kisses her on the neck and thanks her for being her. He lays a passionate kiss on her.

At the pub, Morgan accuses Chloe of lying about her father being on the pier and smelling like gasoline. Philip tells her to calm down while Steve, Kayla, Max, and Steph witness the confrontation. “She’s telling lies about my father and I know why,” declares an angry Morgan, who suspects that Chloe's covering for someone. Roman asks Philip if he has any ideas. “Do you really believe that I’m capable of starting this fire?” Philip asks Morgan, who is convinced that John Black is behind it. Roman says they have no evidence of John starting the fire, but they do have another witness right in front of them. Morgan continues to insist that Chloe’s lying. Chloe affirms that she’s just reporting what she saw. She’s willing to sign an affidavit. Roman summons Chloe to talk in private. He implores her to start at the beginning and tell him everything she knows.
