A 'No Worries' Kind of Guy

By , About.com Guide

Nicole barges into the DiMera mansion insisting to E.J. that they need to talk. Rolf apologizes for not announcing her arrival fast enough. E.J. calmly thanks Rolf and asks what he can do for Nicole. She needs him to speed up her divorce, since her bank account needed it finalized yesterday. E.J. reminds her that she can’t just dissolve a marriage overnight. Sami and Lucas then arrive home escorted by the police. “Samantha, what happened?” questions E.J. “Ask Lucas,” replies a peeved Sami as Allie is screaming. E.J. takes Allie from Sami as Lucas says he doesn’t want E.J. anywhere near his daughter. E.J. is able to calm Allie down, which impresses Sami. “Looks like Allie prefers E.J.,” notes Nicole to Lucas. E.J. hands Allie back to Sami as Nicole jeers how Lucas must feel like a total loser. He asks for someone to tell him what happened. Lucas flashes back to the incidents which landed him into trouble. Sami finally confesses that Lucas was arrested again. Nicole fixes herself a drink during the drama. Sami recounts how she had to go down to the station to get Allie from Child Protective Services. E.J. is furious to hear that Allie wandered outside the perimeter. Sami steps in to defend Lucas, but he tells her not to bother. E.J. demands to know what Lucas is doing there, pointing out that this is the second time he’s violated his house arrest conditions. Sami reveals that her dad pulled some strings because he wanted to give Lucas another chance. Nicole gives Lucas a week before he screws up again. E.J. tells her to butt out. “You know, E.J., I do not want her in our house,” asserts Sami. The officer orders Lucas to stay within the perimeter of the house. Otherwise, he’ll be back in prison.

Nicole wonders if E.J.’s finished yet. E.J. states that he needs to put the twins down for a nap. Lucas offers to do it, but E.J. tells him not to. Sami suggests to Lucas that they should talk. Lucas reiterates that he doesn’t want E.J. anywhere near his daughter. E.J. affirms that he’s done a bloody good job of raising Allie for the past few months. Nicole backs him up. Sami demands for Nicole to get out of the house. E.J. proposes to Nicole that they finish their business later. Nicole suggests they do it over dinner and drinks, which E.J. acquiesces to. “Great! It’s a date! Oh, I mean a meeting,” she gloats. Sami is clearly annoyed by Nicole’s presence. E.J. proceeds to put the twins down for a nap and asks Sami not to leave Lucas alone with the children.

Lucas asks Sami if she’s going to abide by E.J.’s wishes. Sami demurs that it would be best for now if Lucas wasn’t alone with the twins, since he’s already been arrested twice. Lucas insists that he had no choice in breaking his permeter. E.J. comes back downstairs after putting the twins to sleep. He proceeds to head out for his meeting with Nicole and tells Sami to call if she needs to leave the house.

“Well, there goes the gym,” says Sami after E.J. leaves. Lucas suggests she just go, since he can handle things with the twins being asleep. Sami quips how E.J. would love that. Lucas insists that this has nothing to do with E.J. They argue about E.J. and the children and Lucas yells how the whole situation is insane.

“You want a piece of me old man? Bring it on!” challenges a furious Max to John on the docks. Steph arrives on the scene and tells Max no. Max tells Steph to stay out of it. A belligerent John implores Steph to get “this punk” out of his face. Steph demands to know what Max’s problem is. Max accuses John of trying to smuggle drugs into Salem. John assumes that Max is working for Kiriakis and questions how much Phil’s paying him. Steph reiterates her demand to know what her boyfriend’s problem is. “John is scum! People could’ve died if your shipment made it to the streets!” exclaims Max. Steph leads Max away.

Ava spots a distressed John from afar, who briefly flashes back to being in Rolf’s lab. Ava asks him if he’s alright. John tells her to go away. Ava insists that she can’t, since she knows what he’s going through. John recognizes her as Martino Vitali’s daughter. “You hold people hostage,” states John. Ava notes that John reads the newspapers and refers to him as “John Black – Resident drug dealer.” She asks him if he wants a little company, but he declines. Ava deduces that he’s not well after witnessing what happened, then suggests she could help. “And I should let you because?” asks John. “Because I think you’re cute,” jokes Ava. John suggests she try again. Ava suggests she could help him because he knows her life hasn’t been easy. She offers to tell him what he wants to know about her. “Tell me about that crazy doctor of yours, the one who kept you on drugs,” implores John. Ava recounts how Martino paid her psychiatrist to drug her so she would be unbalanced. John empathizes, since a doctor had a hand in making him a different person too. He admits he’s not the man he once was and isn’t sure he wants to be, referring to himself as more unpredictable now. He shares how people don’t like it that he’s different now because he doesn’t connect with them the same way. He proceeds to leave and thanks her for trying to help him. She tells John to wait, insisting that he needs to talk to someone. John admits that he doesn’t normally open up, but he feels less uncomfortable talking to her. An amused Ava wonders if she should take it as a compliment. “Oh most definitely,” smiles John. Abe interrupts their chummy moment and wonders if Ava used her father’s contacts to help John score cocaine. Ava refers to this as ridiculous. John states that Ava had nothing to do with it, referring to Abe as the commissioner. Abe warns John that he’ll be keeping an eye on him and that his bail could be revoked at any time.

After Abe leaves, Ava notes how she and John have another thing in common, in that the cops just love them. “Have dinner with me,” he implores. She doesn’t think it’s a good idea, noting how he’s married to Dr. Marlena Evans. She claims she doesn’t date married men, but tells him to take care of himself.
