At the hospital, Daniel encounters Lexie, who has just returned from a meeting at Theo’s school. Lexie surmises that he can’t get enough of the hospital and states that the offer still stands. Daniel admits that he’s thinking about it and proceeds to head out. Lexie asks to speak with him in private before he leaves. Daniel sits down and is all ears. Lexie admits that she feels as though he’s the only person she can talk to about Theo, who is having trouble at school. She shares how his teacher believes they should take him to a child specialist. She is frustrated that the child development center at the hospital won’t give her anything definitive. Daniel hugs Lexie, which Chelsea witnesses as she arrives. He spots Chelsea and calls for her. Chelsea apologizes for interrupting. Lexie heads back to her rounds.
Chelsea asks if Lexie will be okay, noting how lucky Lexie is to have friend like him. Daniel remarks how cool Chelsea’s attitude is. They discuss his fake girlfriend, which Chelsea claims to not understand. Daniel refers to the situation as complicated and recalls how the other day Chelsea accused him of being drawn to women whom he doesn’t have to commit to. He’s decided that it’s time to make a major change in his life. He refers to himself as a “no worries kind of guy,” but admits that every once in a while he meets someone who inspires him like Chelsea. “You, Chelsea Brady, are amazing, and also a little insightful,” he states. He admits that ever since his wife died, he’s gone out of his way to avoid serious relationships with women, but he wants to change that. He finally admits that he’s attracted to her, but he needs to deal with his issues on his own. Chelsea claims she understands and agrees not to throw herself at him anymore.
Elsewhere, Lexie flashes back to meeting Abe at the pub and discussing Theo’s problems at school. Abe arrives at the hospital needing to tell her something important. He agrees that she’s right, in that they should have Theo examined by a specialist. Lexie hugs him before announcing that it’s her turn to tell him something.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Victor asserts that he’s back and he will deal with John Black himself. Chloe emerges with her packed bag and announces that she’s leaving. Philip insists that she doesn’t have to go, but Victor clearly disagrees. She states that she’s happy to leave and says she’ll see him later. “The hell you will!” shouts Victor. Philip tells his dad to stay out of it. Victor forbids Philip from seeing Chloe after what she did to Brady. Philip affirms that he and Chloe are friends, and tells Victor that he can’t tell him who he can or cannot see. “I refuse to believe that any son of mine would choose a piece of trash like Chloe over his own family,” scowls Victor. Philip apologizes to Chloe and assures her that he’ll call her. Chloe tells him not to worry about it, suggesting that she’ll stay at the Salem Inn until she finds something permanent.
After Chloe leaves, Phil asks his dad if it was necessary to throw Chloe out. Victor asks if Philip’s sleeping with her. Philip tells him to stay out of his personal life. Victor wonders if Phil believes that Chloe will stay with him after she finds out that he planted a half a million dollars of drugs on John’s ship. He asks Philip what he was thinking. “I thought I’d handle John. And I did,” confesses Philip. Victor surmises that all Philip did was muddy the waters and leave the family open to a whole new level of attacks. He asks where Philip got the drugs. “From an old friend of yours in Mexico,” reveals Philip. Victor notes how Philip’s sounding more and more like him every day and rehashes how he grew up poor and was forced to make difficult choices. Philip asserts that John had to be dealt with and tells Victor not to interfere.
Philip later summons Chloe to the Java Café. She inquires what happened with his dad, but he doesn’t want to discuss it. She wonders if it means that their little arrangement is done. Philip states that it’s still on. Chloe excuses herself to talk to Sami, who has just arrived. Sami refuses to speak to her. Chloe implores her to sit down and just talk about everything. Sami rehashes how Chloe made Brady a drug addict, then didn’t even tell the family what happened. Chloe refutes that Brady is a grown man and no-one turned him into a drug addict. Sami has nothing to say to her and walks out. Philip brings Chloe some coffee. Chloe thanks him and remarks how she doesn’t know what Lucas sees in Sami. Philip informs her that Lucas is out of prison under house arrest and living at the DiMera mansion. Chloe can’t find the right words to express her surprise. She suddenly has to go and leaves.
Steph and Max head back to the Brady Pub, where she implores him to share what’s going on with his short fuse. Max blows it off as no big deal and proceeds to get ready for the green celebration there. Steph flashes back to Nick confronting Max on the docks after Max got into a fistfight with his longshoreman boss.
Steph later sits at the bar and tells Max that she doesn’t know what to do for him, since he won’t open up to her. Max admits he acted like a total jerk today and chalks it up to “bad day, bad mood.” Steph professes to love him, and vice versa. She doubts that Max even knows what love is, since he keeps shutting her out. She flashes back to confronting Max on the docks about redoing Nick’s proposal. She then phones Nick and shares how worried she is about Max.
Nicole later encounters E.J. outside the pub. E.J. believes they need to have a little chat. Nicole assumes that it’s about the secret which E.J. slipped out the other night. He reminds her that he was drunk. Nicole recounts how he told her that when the time was right, he was going to lie to Sami and tell her that the two of them were still married. She predicts that Sami would love to know that bit of information. E.J. denies knowing what she’s talking about and wonders what she intends to do about it. Nicole whips out her phone to call Lucas. Lucas answers the phone at the DiMera mansion and isn’t in the mood for her games.
