Belle brings food to the for her and Shawn and implores him to eat and relax. She brings up how proud Bo will be when Shawn graduates from the police academy. And how happy hell be when you, me, and Claire go sailing around the world, adds Shawn before he kisses her.
Kate approaches John and re-introduces herself. He is taken aback and apologizes, then asks if theyre on good terms. She refers to them as friends and confronts him about his hardball tactics down on the docks. She warns him that Victor and Philip can be quite ruthless and going against a Kiriakis can be quite dangerous. John thanks her for the tip, but refers to himself as a formidable opponent. Dont say I didnt warn you, she reiterates before she walks off.
Hope and Roman proceed to go to the chapel and light a candle. Marlena assures them that shell let them know if anything happens. John doesnt understand why everyones just moping around there, since the surgery is supposed to last for hours. He admits that he doesnt like it there, so Marlena offers to go with him and get some fresh air.
Dr. Taylor later notes that everything looks good and instructs one of the team members to call the other OR and tell them that the pancreas is viable for transplant. In Bos OR, a staff member relays the message. Daniel proceeds to begin the procedure on Bo.
John and Marlena take a walk on the pier, where she asks how Rolf is adjusting to life as his butler. Actually hes going crazy since I locked up his laboratory, he admits. She wonders if hes asked Rolf about his programming. John shares how Rolf thinks he will never recover the past. Marlena believes that Rolfs wrong about it and asks him if he has any memory of the brainwashing. John says its mostly of the pain, which is why hes not a big fan of the hospital. Losing people you love, assumes Marlena. I didnt say I cared about Bo Brady, counters John. The same way you dont care about your mother, or Shawn, shrugs Marlena. John claims their deaths didnt mean anything to him, and if Bo dies he probably wont care either. Marlena wonders why he showed up at the hospital, especially since he claims he doesnt care. John suggests it was more of a curiosity. Marlena speculates that maybe subconsciously he was worried about his friend. Did you always analyze my motives? he questions. She smiles how she always knew exactly what he was thinking. Ah, psychiatrist and a psychic, he notes.
Marlena reminisces how the pier always had a special meaning for them and recalls how they were separated for years before reuniting there (1991). John surmises that she misses her life with the old John, which she admits. He then receives a call from Paul Hollingsworth, who wants to set up a meeting regarding their arrangement concerning Kiriakis shipments. John says hell be in touch. Marlena then questions who that was on the phone. John lies that it was Stefanos lawyer with more papers to sign. She asks him to come back to the hospital with her and admits how glad she is that they went for a walk together.
After Belle and Shawn finish eating, Shawn leaves to find more soda. Philip approaches Belle and admits how happy he is that the three of them are friends again. Belle hopes that he finds the happiness he deserves.
Nearby, Kate plays cards with the others and gets a royal flush. Steve is impressed, noting that an elegant woman like Kate plays so down and dirty. Kate refers to it as childs play and refers to herself, Billie, and Chelsea as survivors. Nick notes that Chelsea knows how to survive and she always comes out stronger. Steph admits how Chelseas courage amazes her, especially during the whole Ford Decker ordeal. She was like a rabbit pit bull, Man, grins Max. Steve believes that Rabbit Pit Bull is going to kick butt in the operating room.
Back in Chelseas room, Lexie assures Dr. Taylor that hes doing great. He takes the pancreas section and instructs one of the staff members to take it over to Dr. Jonas. The assisting staff member takes it to Daniel, who says its perfect timing.
Roman later tells Hope that he gave Sami an update on the phone and she wanted to come down, but he told her to stay with the twins. Hope says its good thinking, since Sami has her hands full. Roman admits how hes a bit bothered to see Caroline and Victor together, since it should be Pop with her. Hope believes Pop would actually be happy that Caroline has someone supporting her. Roman agrees and notes how lucky Bo is to be married to such a smart woman. Roman takes Steves place at the card games while Steve approaches Hope, who admits that shes trying to be strong, but shes a mess on the inside. Steve encourages her to keep thinking positive and offers to steer her in the right direction. Hope hugs him and remarks what a good friend hes been to Bo and her and doesnt know how theyll ever be able to repay him. Tens and twenties would do fine. I take personal checks, too, he jokes.
A staff member enters the lobby and announces that the pancreas section has been successfully removed and the doctors are closing Chelsea up now. This elicits cheers and applause and lots of hugs are exchanged. Hope and Steve pray together for Bo. Max assures Nick that he and Chelsea have a lot to celebrate. Nick feels bad that he hasnt been spending as much time with Chelsea since hes been working so hard on his grant and wants to be a better boyfriend. Hope and Shawn later embrace as they express relief that Chelsea came through.
Lexie later tells Chelsea what a hero she is, predicting that she probably saved her fathers life. She asks Dr. Taylor if he can finish up on his own, since shed like to check up on Bo. Dr. Taylor obliges. Lexie enters Bos OR, where Daniel remarks what an awesome job she and Dr. Taylor did, but Bos surgery is far from over.
