The Waiting Game

By , About.com Guide

At Tony’s ad agency, Tony’s fast-talking employee named Ethan brings him papers, as does Morgan. Tony is delighted to see Anna enter, who notes his staff and stacks of work to be done. “I want him,” she requests as she points to Ethan. Ethan stammers and stutters as he claims he’s into aggressive older women. Morgan can’t help but be amused. Anna clarifies that she needs someone at her firm and asks what his name is. He introduces himself as Ethan. “Well you seem very energetic and very capable and I want you,” she affirms. “Words I’ve longed to hear from you Anna,” remarks Tony, who asks if she can match the salary. Ethan displays his paycheck to Anna, who questions if Tony pays him by the month. Ethan states that it’s his weekly paycheck. Tony reminds Anna that one gets what he or she pays for. Anna says she needs someone to bounce ideas off of, then approaches Morgan and asks what her name is. Tony accuses Anna of walking into his ad agency trying to take one of his employees as though she’s a pastrami sandwich. Anna whines how she needs someone to help her. Tony affirms that Morgan is his intern and questions if she has one of her own. Anna reveals that her employee is at the hospital because Bo Brady is very sick. Tony is sorry to hear that Bo is ill. Anna briefs him on Bo’s partial pancreas transplant and informs him that Chelsea’s is the donor. Thus, Anna can’t tell her intern Stephanie that she can’t be at the hospital with her cousin and uncle.

Anna then whines about having a ghost boss and an intern who is missing in action and really wants an account. Tony assumes that Anna’s referring to Kate Roberts’s new product line, which Anna confirms. Anna displays her idea to Tony, which is “Go for Broke Without Going Broke.” Tony notes how nostalgic it is, while Ethan notes that her idea is on paper. He implies that his agency is working on ideas for Kate’s company as well, but they are still underdeveloped. Ethan displays an idea on the computer for Anna, who wonders how he composed it. Tony mentions that it was the art department. Anna and Tony bicker before Tony rehashes how she wanted to be independent, but at the first sign of difficulty she comes running back to him. “How dare you throw that in my face, especially in front of Elon and Margo!” she pouts. Tony implores her to admit that she needs him, but she tells him not to flatter himself. He refers to her as hardheaded, but she proceeds to show him who’s hardheaded and whacks him with one of his paintings. A calm and cool Tony then asks Ethan and Morgan to excuse them. A nervous Anna notes that Tony has a rather unfriendly smile and backs away from him. Tony refers to her as a spoiled brat and grabs her by the arm. “Well you’re a beast!” she exclaims. Tony kisses her and implores her to admit that he needs her, but she refuses to admit nothing as he pushes her onto the sofa. “Admit it. You want me,” he implores. “I want you,” she says before they get amorous.

After they make love, Anna relishes how she definitely feels more relaxed. “Oh, love in the afternoon!” marvels Tony. When Ethan knocks on the door, Anna and Tony hurry and get dressed before opening the door. Tony and Anna pretend to argue so that Ethan doesn’t suspect anything. She storms out.

In Chelsea’s recovery room, Kate leafs through a magazine and comes across an article entitled “How to Make Your Man Say ‘Wow,’” while Chelsea sleeps. When Daniel enters, Kate wonders if Chelsea should’ve regained consciousness by now. A groggy Chelsea wakes up, who admits that her throat is sore. Daniel informs the ladies that Bo’s surgery went well and is out like a light in his recovery room. Chelsea encourages her grandma to go home and rest. Kate tells her to call if she needs anything. It looks as though Chelsea’s going to get up, but Daniel tells her to lie back. Chelsea claims she was just trying to fix the pillow and is impressed when he fixes it for her. He tells a modest Chelsea that she did surprisingly well. Daniel bets they hit the jackpot with the transplant and refers to her as a very special lady who did an amazing thing. A weary but happy Chelsea thanks him and asks for reassurance that her dad’s going to be okay. Daniel wishes he had better news, but for now all they can do is wait and see if Bo’s body accepts the transplant.

Steve wakes up in the lobby as Shawn, Belle, Philip, Max, and Steph are still sleeping. He approaches Roman, who wishes that someone would tell them something about Bo. Later, Roman admits to Steve that he is now officially going crazy. Steve advises him to do something to keep busy and displays his origami fixture, which amuses Roman. “I’m not just a pretty face. I’m a dude with many talents,” jests Steve. Roman then notices a magazine similar to which Kate used to read and comes across the article entitled, “How to Make Your Man Say Wow,” the same one Kate was reading in Chelsea’s room. An exhausted Steph approaches Steve and questions if there’s any news yet. Steve displays his birdie origami while Roman takes a call. Steve proceeds to check on Kayla, who’s been up working all night. Steph hugs her dad and notes how he takes such good care of her mom.

Caroline and Hope keep vigil in Bo’s room. Lexie and Kayla enter, where Lexie assures them that Bo’s vital signs are stable. “It’s just a waiting game now,” says Kayla. Lexie encourages Caroline and Hope to go home and get some rest, but the ladies want to be there when Bo wakes up. Caroline implores Kayla to go home, insisting that it’s not good for her or the baby to be on her feet so long. Lexie agrees. Steve enters Bo's room and asks how his best buddy is doing. Lexie states that he’s resting comfortably right now, but still hasn’t regained consciousness.
