At the DiMera mansion, Rolf has his headphones on and makes a humorous attempt to lose the accent, as John requested. He recites she sells seashells by the seashore." John keeps a straight face as he removes his headphones and asks him what hes doing. Rolf tells him hes working on his diction and whines how its too difficult. You bring people back from the dead. You can bury that lousy accent, John points out. As Rolf continues to practice, John calls Paul Hollingsworth to make sure that Pauls charity appreciates his latest donation. Paul tells him hes more than generous and asks what else he can do to thank him. John says nothing, but brings up that there might be a weight and manifest discrepancy on the last Kiriakis cargo ships that are about to be unloaded. He implies how unfortunate it would be if the cargo was indefinitely detained or even denied entry altogether. Paul gets the message loud and clear.
After Paul hangs up with John, he approaches Max on the docks and asks him to go to the Kiriakis dock and load containers back onto the ships, where theyll be placed under guard until further notice. He offers to get Max's community service hours cut in half if he does some extra work for customs. After Paul walks off, Max calls Philip and alerts him of the situation and reveals that Phils company just had two shipments placed under quarantine. Philip heads down there.
Max later informs Paul that the containers are loaded back onto the Kiriakis ships. He feigns surprise when Philip arrives. Paul rants about weight discrepancies on the manifest and incomplete inventories in the contents of the containers. He claims they need more details, especially with the heightened risk of bombs or chemicals being hidden in the containers. Philip refers to this as ridiculous and snatches the documents from Paul, so he can verify whether or not the manifests match the ones he has in his office. Paul informs him that the containers need to be quarantined until they can be inspected. Philip questions how much it will cost to make this problem going away. Paul assumes hes trying to bribe him. Morgan then arrives and brings her father a croissant and coffee. Max realizes that Paul is Morgans father and introduces Morgan to Philip. So, Mr. Hollingsworth. Do you really want your daughter to know what youre doing? questions Philip. Paul affirms hes doing his job and sarcastically apologizes for the inconvenience. Philip warns him that it isnt over. Paul tells him to walk away, otherwise hell hit Phil with fines and hell start an investigation. Paul looks straight at Max and undoubtedly suspects him of tipping Philip off. Max states that he doesnt work for Victor Kiriakis, but his community service involves loading food and supplies to be sent to Africa. Paul tells him to get back to work.
Shawn, Belle, and Claire come to the DiMera mansion to say good-bye to John. John tells Belle they couldve just sent a post card or used a cell phone. Shawn is incredulous that all John can tell his daughter is send me a postcard when you get there. Youre right, Im sorry. Bring me a souvenir, quips John. Belle clarifies that they are leaving town. John eagerly asks how soon they are leaving. Shawn replies as soon as they can find a boat to lease. John offers to buy them one. Like hell you will, scoffs Shawn. John claims hes making an offer and proceeds to get some champagne to celebrate just in case. I want some juice, says Claire. John eagerly takes Claire to get some while Shawn and Belle discuss the boat issue. Belle admits that she cant completely trust her father, but states that its about love and sees glimpses her old dad. She implores Shawn to accept Johns gift so she can feel as though deep down inside her dad loves her. Shawn agrees to abide by her wishes.
John carries Claire with her juice box back back into the living room, which impresses Belle. So, boat or no boat? asks John. Boat, smiles Belle. John asks Rolf to crack open some champagne, but Shawn doesnt feel that its appropriate with Bo not fully being out of the woods yet. John asks what theyre going to name the boat. What else? Fancy Face 4, replies Shawn. Belle hugs her dad and thanks him. Glad to do it, Dink, responds John. Its Tink, corrects Belle. We see a glimpse of emotion as John encourages them to go pick out that boat. I love you Daddy, cries Belle as she hugs him. Claire says bye to John, who tells her to make sure her folks have plenty of juice for her. They embrace as John looks as though hes going to cry. Im gonna miss you. Youre the only one in this whole town that really got me, he confesses. He then notes that theres something in his eye, like a tear. Belle says good-bye to her dad one last time. Dont forget the postcard, he says as he gets more tears.
Victor enters Marlenas office and admits that hes uncomfortable with the idea of therapy. Marlena brings up his feelings about Bos illness and how its been reminding him about Isabellas death. Victor feels as though he cant talk to anyone about this and notes how Caroline is very easy to talk to, but he cant burden her with his problems when she has so many of her own. He expresses relief that Bo and Chelseas surgeries went well, although Bos not out of the woods yet. He laments not being there for Isabella when she died and how little time he had with her. Victor opens up about how the new John doesnt even remember Isabella and now Bradys in a troubled marriage and is missing. Marlena wonders if he feels as though hes let Brady and Isabella down. Victor believes thats the case and admits that hes done things in Salem which people havent exactly approved of. He professes to have always loved his children and praises Philips efforts in Titan and the shipping lines, but wishes Phil could get into politics. The session is interrupted by a call from Philip, who reveals that Max informed him that customs is refusing to allow their shipments to be unloaded. Victor offers to deal with Paul, while Philip offers to deal with John.
