Shawn, Belle, and Claire Say Good-Bye

By , About.com Guide

Hope enters a sleeping Bo’s room and sees Kayla, who was called in because Daniel had a video consultation and Lexie was called in for emergency surgery. Hope asks Kayla if she should be resting, but Kayla says she’s fine and she’s the only doctor who knows Bo’s history. Hope expresses relief that Bo made it. Kayla then asks about Ciara. Hope smiles how she just stopped by to see her and how she’s becoming a bit of a handful. Hope brings up how Shawn and Belle are leaving Salem, since John bought them a boat. The ladies share an embrace before Bo’s monitors start beeping. Kayla finds that he’s in some kind of distress, his fever has spiked, and his heart rate is elevated. Hope wonders if Bo’s rejecting the transplant. Kayla states that acute rejection typically happens only after the transplant. A doctor enters the room, where Kayla brings him up to speed on the current situation. The doctor deduces that Bo isn’t getting enough of his inhibitor, but Kayla insists that Bo’s getting the correct dosage which Dr. Jonas prescribed. The doctor affirms that he’s in charge now and requests for Kayla to elevate his dosage to a different amount. Kayla protests against this, insisting that she’s trying to save Bo’s life. “You either listen to me, or you get the hell out of this patient’s room,” she demands. The doctor questions how many transplants Kayla has been involved with. A furious Kayla shows him a document which states that his anti-rejection drug increases the possibility of transplant rejection. The doctor apologizes and walks out. Hope realizes that Bo could’ve died. Kayla vows to make sure the doctor faces disciplinary procedures. Hope is thankful that Kayla was there. Kayla assures Hope that she’s not going anywhere.

Ava looks at a picture of Hope and believes that she’s Kayla. The crazed woman looks in the mirror and believes she’s so much prettier than “Kayla.” Angelo, one of Ava’s goons, knocks on the door. They are apparently on friendly terms as they share an embrace. “Why can’t they get you better?” he questions. Ava claims she’s fine. She admits that Angelo is her favorite cousin and refers to herself as a little emotional and complicated, so her daddy thinks she needs a shrink and some meds. Angelo says he loves her and vows to always take care of her. She tries to persuade him to help her out, insisting that they make a great team. “I just want what I want,” she states. Angelo assumes she means “that Patch guy” and insists that he’s no good for her. He refers to Steve as scum for leaving her the way he did. Ava gets defensive and tells him not to say it. She claims that the good old days were fun because of Patch. “He dumped you!” exclaims Angelo, who quickly apologizes. “Angelo, don’t talk like that,” warns Ava. She insists that being with Patch will make everything better and implores him to help her get him back. She coaxes him to make her a grilled cheese sandwich, then tries to convince him to allow her to take a walk. He relents and gives her fifteen minutes. She thanks him and rushes out the door.

Angelo later brings Ava a plate of food and realizes that she has used up her allotted time. George enters and reveals that Ava’s gone. Angelo wonders how that’s possible, since the fences are electrified and the gate is electronically locked. George informs him that Ava has disabled all the electronic locks to the gate. Angelo realizes he’s been duped and predicts that Ava couldn’t have gone far. George further reveals that Ava took Angelo’s car. Angelo deduces that Ava must’ve lifted his keys right when he walked in the door. He picks up the photo of Ava and Steve and predicts that she went to find Patch.

Steve approaches Kayla’s guard outside Bo’s room and reminds him to lay low so Kayla won’t figure out what’s going on. When Hope emerges from the room, Steve asks how his buddy is doing. Hope fills him in on the recent situation with the doctor who had no idea what he was doing. Steve encourages an unsettled Hope to take a deep breath, assuring her that Bo is alright now. The friends embrace just as Ava lurks around the corner and witnesses the close moment. She quickly disappears as Hope suspects that something’s bothering Steve and refuses to let up until Steve spills what’s on his mind. Steve turns away before revealing that someone’s got it in for Kayla because of him. Hope is astonished by this revelation and demands to know what he’s talking about. Steve says it’s a long story and isn’t sure where to begin. “Try at the beginning,” urges Hope.

Steve recalls how he escaped from Stefano a few years ago when “this sweet young lady took me in.” He states that the gal’s family operates a business outside the law. He tells Hope about the threatening note which Ava sent him in the hospital not too long ago and tells her about confronting Ava, sensing there was something “off” about the woman. “You mean crazy,” clarifies Hope. Steve further reveals that he saw Ava in Ireland on the tarmac right before they took off, and she’s the reason the plane crashed. Hope is astonished by this and assumes that he told the police. Steve says not really, but assures her that he’s got Abe working with him and insists that he needs to handle it his own way, otherwise all hell will break loose. Hope then realizes that she met Ava outside the pub. She admits that there was something about Ava which scared her and urges Steve to go to the police. Steve insists that they need more information on Ava first. Hope affirms that the most important thing to do is to keep Kayla, Stephanie, and the baby safe, which Steve vows to do.

“Tell me how you’re protecting Kayla,” implores Hope. Steve shows her the guard nearby and insists that he can’t tell Kayla, since too much stress could cause her to lose the baby. Hope admits that she’s glad Steve told him and assures him that she doesn’t blame him for anything that’s happened in the past. Steve reveals that Stephanie knows the story as well and vows to get the Ava situation under control. He proceeds to contact Abe and see if he’s come up with anything else on Ava.
