Meanwhile, the real Kayla asks a daunted Steve who he was talking to. Steve claims it’s a long story. “Well, since you won’t let me leave this place, I’ve got the time,” she says. Steve admits he’s been wanting to tell her about the situation, but she’s been in a fragile state. “When we were in Ireland.....” he begins. Kayla then experiences cramping.
Ava asks Hope if she thinks Patch is a nice guy, noting how he also has a dark side. “Is he in love with you? Really in love?” questions Ava, who rants how she feels like hurting Steve. “He needs to feel that hurt and that pain that I went through,” she sneers. Hope notes that Ava still feels the pain. “Do you wanna hurt me too?” questions Hope. Ava claims she has nothing against her, pointing out that “Kayla” didn’t know that she married the man whom Ava was supposed to be with. She apologizes for having to put “Kayla” through the hurt and heartache, but claims it can’t be helped. Hope tries to play on her sympathies and apologizes for what Steve did to her. Ava warns her that Patch will just have to hurt a little bit before they get back together.
Ava notes how hungry Hope is as she chows down her food. Hope attempts to sweet talk Ava and refers to her as sweet, thoughtful, smart, and obviously very beautiful. Ava notes that she’s patronizing her, but Hope denies it. Ava pays her the same compliments. Hope thanks her and thanks her for the sandwich. “Thank you for not tying me up or torturing me,” adds Hope. Ava chuckles and notes her good sense of humor, then apologizes for having to take Patch from her. Hope questions what Ava and Steve will do once they get back together, but Ava tells her not to worry about that. “How did you two meet?” inquires Hope. Ava smiles like a giddy schoolgirl and mentions that they both got into a cab together, drove across town, talked the entire time, then grabbed a coffee together. “He was so mysterious, so strong,” she marvels. Hope implores her to tell her more. Ava reveals that they started seeing each other, then she brought Patch home to meet her father and got Patch a job in the family business. Hope asks how long she and Patch were together. Ava replies that it was almost two years and they were going to get married. Hope wants to hear more about her dream wedding. Ava raves how she wanted a platform with lights and a gazebo, so she and Patch could stand there like angels and gaze at each other. She reveals that her father didn’t want her to marry Patch, so they ran away and found a preacher in the middle of the desert, where Steve went all the way down the street to ask two old people to be their witnesses, but they didn’t get married. Ava wants to talk about something more pleasant. “What could be more pleasant than talking about the true love of your life?” suggests Hope. “You know sometimes I hate him!” seethes Ava. Hope asks what happened after Patch left. Ava says she went home and cried and hit things. “And then I got sick,” she winces. Ava is eager to know what it’s like to be married to Patch. Hope doesn’t want Ava to use anything against her, or Steve. “I gave you sandwich. Now I wanna hear everything there is to know about your life with him!” yells Ava. Hope agrees, if she lets her make one phone call. Ava warns “Kayla” that she’s not going to have her happy ending and she and Patch will be together forever.
Back at the Salem Inn Suite, Steve helps Kayla sit down and proceeds to call the doctor. He informs the doctor of the situation and wants to bring her in, but apparently the doctor can make a house call. He helps a cramping Kayla into the bedroom. Dr. Elman soon arrives and goes into the bedroom to examine her. Steve then calls someone trying to find out where Hope’s phone call came from.
Chloe later returns to the mansion as Philip hangs up the phone. She rants how she nailed it perfectly, but they didn’t want her due to her notorious but untrue reputation in Austria about Brady’s disappearance. Philip assures her that Victor has his men scouring all of Austria and probably all of Europe, and if they can’t find Brady then no-one can. Chloe fixes herself a drink as she whines how everyone thinks she had something to do with Brady’s disappearance. Philip takes Chloe in his arms and they almost kiss, but are interrupted by Phil’s phone. It’s Bo, who needs a place for Chelsea to stay along with someone to take care of her. Philip offers to hire a nurse and allow Chelsea to stay there, assuring Bo that she’ll be in good hands. Bo thanks him and relays the message to Chelsea. Chelsea sits down and the bed and tells her dad how much she loves him. “Enough to give me a chunk of your pancreas?” jokes Bo. He struggles to get up, but is in too much pain to move. “I love you, and thanks again,” he says. Steph assures Bo that they’ll take care of her. Bo then receives a call from Steve, who needs to talk to him about Hope. Steve reveals that he talked to Hope, but can’t disclose any more details and asks Bo to trust him. Bo presses for more information, but Steve assures him that he’ll come down and talk to him as soon as possible. Max wheels Chelsea around the corner at the hospital, where the threesome run into Daniel.
Back at the Salem Inn, Kayla and her doctor emerge from the bedroom, where the doctor informs him that Kayla over exerted herself, which brought on the cramping. Steve offers to make sure that Kayla stays put, even if he has to get an extra set of eyes to watch her. Kayla promises to be good. After Kayla falls asleep on the sofa, Steve calls Stephanie and urges her to come home now.
After Bo loses his phone connection with Steve, Abe enters his room and asks what he’s doing. Bo insists that he needs to get back on the phone. Abe urges him to lie back and rest, but Bo can’t right now. He tries to assure Bo that they will find Hope. Meanwhile, Steve tries to call Bo back.
