Philip asks Chloe if she and Brady are going to pick up where they left off, shouting and threatening to kill each other or if their relationship’s going to be all hugs and kisses. Chloe just hopes she has a reunion with Brady at this point. Philip questions why all the drama in her marriage. “You have the gall to ask me that after the drama of your marriage, and divorce, and affair with Belle?” retorts Chloe. She tells him not to assume that she’ll come running to him for comfort even if things don’t work out between her and Brady. “For you it would just be sex. You’re still in love with Belle,” she surmises. Philip reiterates that he’s over Belle and he’s moving on. He expresses hope that they find Brady, not just because he’s family but so that Chloe moves on. The two engage in suggestive banter before Philip warns Chloe that he’ll find out about any phone calls she makes in other languages. “Go to hell!” she exclaims before storming out. Philip intends to have a front-row seat when Chloe’s life implodes.

“Did you forget to kiss me good-bye?” quips Philip when Chloe returns. She claims she forgot her coat. “Stop flirting with me and stop spying on me!” she demands. “No, and no,” responds Philip. She proceeds to stay as far away from him as possible. He teases her about having cameras in the mansion, which infuriates Chloe. Philip surprisingly apologizes for giving her a hard time lately. He promises to back off if she promises to be honest with him and let him in on the phone calls next time. “Don’t forget, I’m the only friend you have left in this world,” he says before leaving. “You wouldn’t be my friend if you really knew what happened before Brady disappeared,” sighs Chloe.

Steph arrives at the pub and offers her services to Caroline, since Max has been juggling a lot lately. She shares her good news about the internship at Anna DiMera’s agency. Caroline is of course delighted for her granddaughter and wonders if Max was excited when she told him. Steph demurs that she hasn’t told him yet, but saw him at the pier. Caroline questions why she didn’t tell Max the good news. Steph recalls how down Max was and didn’t want it to seem like things were going so well for her when they weren’t for him. Caroline advises Steph to go tell Max, predicting that he would want to hear about her success. Steph thought he’d be at the pub by now. Caroline reveals that Max makes a stop every day before he arrives back at the pub.

Belle has her eyes closed as Shawn leads her to the park. He allows her to open her eyes and she wonders where the surprise is. He admits he’s been doing a lot of thinking and now realizes what’s important. He professes his love for Belle and wants to give them a new beginning. They embrace and agree that it was meant to be between them. He proposes that they start afresh. Belle doesn’t follow. “Belle Black, will you marry me all over again. Right here and right now?” he proposes as he gets down on one knee. A beaming Belle says yes to starting over. She takes off her ring and hands it to him before they reaffirm their vows before the open sky and God. “I Shawn Brady, take you Isabella Black,” he recites. After he speaks a few beautiful words, he slips the ring on her finger. Belle tearfully professes her undying love to Shawn, then gives him his ring. They embrace and share a loving kiss.

Shawn and Belle later cuddle on the park bench happily pondering their married lives. He expresses worry over his dad and fills her in on Dr. Jonas. He predicts that his parents will be stronger than ever once his dad makes it through his illness. Belle hopes the same thing for her parents. Shawn reminisces over how he sailed around the world with his parents to various places most people couldn’t imagine. Belle gets an idea to sail around the world, which delights Shawn. He says they’ll make it a reality as soon as his dad’s better. They seal their deal with a kiss.

Max puts flowers on Grandpa Shawn’s grave. He sits down and talks to his pop, admitting that he ‘s living a nightmare because Pop’s gone. He tells his pop that he doesn’t think he’s dealing with his death very well because he can’t seem to cry or mourn and he doesn’t understand why. Max rehashes what a messed-up kid he was when Shawn took him in, but Shawn saw the good in him and everybody else. “I’ve never known, and I never will know anyone who had a heart as big as you,” he confesses. Max realizes one good thing about his abusive biological father: “I never would’ve known you. I never would’ve known what it would be like to be a real man,” he says. Max recalls how Pop was there for him even when he got into trouble and believes that Pop would be proud of how he’s handling his troubles now. Max admits that he’s not sorry for what he did, because he did it for someone whom he loves. Steph arrives as Max continues talking to his pop about being treated like his own son, even though he doesn’t have the Brady blood running through his veins. Steph apologizes for the intrusion and assures Max that no matter what, Shawn was his dad and Max was his son. She assures him that Max is a Brady, blood or not, and that Pop was proud of him. She consoles Max over his loss and feels as though Pop’s looking down on him. Max takes her hand and thanks her for her words of comfort. She admits she has a lot to smile about when she thinks about the future, like school and a new internship with Anna. “But most importantly I have you,” she nods.

Max later hands Steph an Irish coin which Pop gave to him. He recalls how he used to tell Pop that he was too old for the “behind the ear” trick, but one day Pop pulled it from behind his ear and told him to take it and put it in his pocket until he needed it. Max confesses that it’s been in his pocket ever since and that’s where it will always be until he has someone to pass it on to. Max bids his pop’s grave good-bye, then leaves. Steph kneels down to Pop’s grave and marvels what a wonderful son he raised, then confesses that she’s falling in love and should tell Max soon.
