Sami arrives home at the DiMera mansion and fumes about EJ when Rolf says something in German about the babies sleeping. Rolf notes how agitated she seems. Because Im stuck with this man who is so stupid and arrogant and pompous and blind, and ahh! she fumes. Rolf assumes shes referring to Master Elvis. Yes. That is exactly the arrogant ass that Im referring to, she confirms. She refers to her husband as a two-faced, lying, sneaky, slut-chasing jerk. Rolf wonders if Sami feels the pitter-patter in her heart even though she says she doesnt like him. Sami declares that she has no feelings for EJ. Rolf gives a comedic speech about fear. Sami quips how he has a way of cheering people up and proceeds to cultivate her feelings of fear and terror and ignore every other emotion. Rolf implores her to think of all the beautiful sympathies in the name of love. Sami admits she just wants to talk to Lucas and see him, then brings up the letter he recently wrote her. Rolf is hesitant to say anything, then confesses that he overheard EJ talking to a warden at Statesville. It seems that you might be seeing Lucas much sooner than you thought, he surmises. Sami is surprised to hear that EJ would want to help Lucas get out of prison. She thanks Rolf for the information. Rolf beams how being helpful is his greatest gift or calling. Sami tells him that if he comes across any new information shed appreciate knowing. Rolf hints that it all depends on whats in it for him. Sami admits she owes him one. After Rolf leaves the room, she phones EJ and warns him that hed better pick up.
Nicole and EJ make out in the steam room before EJ pulls away and says they cant. She kisses him again, but he admits that he cant get over the feeling hes cheating on Sami. Nicole assumes that he wants to stay close to Sami for the sake of their son. EJ affirms that he really loves her. Nicole states that Sami is in love with Lucas and the minute he wanders back into her life, EJ will be a ghost. EJ confirms that Statesville Prison has a serious overcrowding problem, and theyre allowing some of the prisoners to be released early under a home arrest program. He reveals that he called the warden and requested to have Lucas put on the list. Nicole questions how getting Lucas out of prison will help win Samis love. EJ believes that if he wants to win Samis affection fair and square, he cant do it if Lucas is in prison. Remind me again, did he shoot you in the brain? quips Nicole. EJ states that hes the victim, and the sooner he can remind Sami of that, the better.
Nicole is later all alone at the Salem Health Club and goes a round with the punching bag before deciding that its time to cozy up to an old friend. A depressed Nicole takes a drink of liquor which she brought with her.
EJ later arrives home to Sami, who remarks how he missed putting the twins to bed since he was having fun with Nicole in the steam room. He insists that nothing happened between him and Nicole, but Sami is dubious. He claims he has absolutely nothing to gain by lying to her. Well you had nothing to gain by sleeping with Nicole, except for maybe a communicable disease but that didnt stop you, she retorts. EJ proceeds to take a shower. Sami demands to know why hes trying to get Lucas released from prison. She seriously doubts that its out of the goodness of his heart, but he states otherwise. And Im an American Gladiator, she quips. He says he knows that she loves Lucas and expresses how he wants her to be happy. Thats a very lovely sentiment, EJ. I wish youd been thinking that the night Johnny was conceived, she rehashes.
EJ questions if thats why shes so angry, because of the way Johnny was conceived. She professes how she loves Johnny more than anything in the world, but asserts that she cant ever forget where he came from. EJ admits hes not proud of what he did that night and is deeply ashamed. He attests that he never intended to hurt her. He claims he made love to her that night (as he puts it) because of the way he felt about her, and at the time he thought she felt the same way. You are so egotistical! I told you that I loved Lucas! I told you I was in love with my husband! she seethes. EJ admits that if he could take it all back he could, referring to it as the biggest mistake of his life. Well its too little, too late, she affirms, as she makes reference to the emotional scars. EJ apologizes profusely and doesnt have any defense, as he didnt think shed be disgusted with him. He refers to his actions as inexcusable. He professes that he can never apologize to her enough or make up for it in any real way, but insists hes tried to change for her. The remorseful DiMera expresses how one day he hopes that she might be able to wipe the slate clean. Because I am so sorry, he reiterates.
Sami tells him that if he wants to be a good father to Johnny, he has to be a good role model. Which means not cavorting in steam rooms with people like Nicole, she adds. EJ reiterates that nothing happened with Nicole. And you expect me to believe that because...., she responds. Cause I told her that I loved you, he interjects. Sami isnt ready to fully believe this is true, but admits its nice to know that Nicole thinks that. Fine, she says, as she decides to have a clean slate. She notes that hes done a lot of good things, like trying to help Lucas come back. They are interrupted by a drunken Nicole, who makes a crack about EJ and Sami being the poster children for domestic paradise. Rolf apologizes for Nicole just barging in. Its like trying to stop a train wreck, isnt it Rolf? remarks Sami. Nicole asks Rolf for a Martini, straight up with a twist. Sami orders a flirtatious Nicole to get away from EJ, who questions if theres a reason for her visit. She proceeds to call the police, but EJ tells her not to bother. Nicole tries to kiss EJ. What the hell are you doing? questions Sami. Nicole claims shes just letting nature take its course as she tries to cozy up to EJ. A furious Sami marches Nicole right out the door, which impresses EJ.
